I see two of these numbers on my caller id.
I always pay my bill by the 30th of the month. Always have and always will. I have never before received a call from these people.
If for some reason they are feeling the need to call me about my account when I am less than 30 days from the due date ... they can phuk themselves. I'll be home and will answer the next one if there is one.

What are you talking about?
AMEX charges are due in full each month!
jonaro 2011-06-28 19:15:26 Debt Collector
I believe this is AMEX with their usual harrassment practices! If you are wondering if you should become an AMEX customer do not, that will be one of the worst mistakes you'll ever do!

It's a scam caller claiming to be AmEx, "vishing" for account information. You can read about my experience here, if you'd like: http://tinyurl.com/6cxlgcu
If you have an AmEx account, I recommend calling their official customer service number (probably listed on the back of your card or on their official website) before calling this number.

Perhaps AMX will change their ways after forcing customers like me with 780 credit score and low credit balance to stop making payments. They actually hounded me at Costco until I signed up with AMX and transfered my Costco credit card balance. Then, without warning AMX immediately dropped my limit so much that I was rejected at the gas station. I would have been stranded except, of course I had other methods of paying. I called AMX but the rep couldn't tell me why this happened and apologized but wouldn't solve this issue. I made the monthly payments as always but never used the AMX credit card again. Within a few months they raised my interest rate so high that I can't make the payments. Congratulations AMX, you have yourself to thank.

THIS IS NOT AMEX, IT"S PHISHING - A SCAM
We have been getting calls from this number - supposedly from American Express saying that it was not a marketing call but they needed to speak to us about an urgent matter. We were told to call back at 1-800-592-1160.
So, I called back the Amex main number and asked them to check my account. The account was current, in good standing and no fraud issues were reported. I was told that the call might have been made in error, but the representative could not find the 800-592-1160 in the Amex directory.
So, I sent a secure email from the Amex website to customer service asking, "What is this about? Is this legitimate or a phishing call of some sort. Please advise."
I got the following secure email response on the Amex site:
_____________________________________
We have checked our records and again we could not locate the number in our directory. However, please be assured that the security of your account is our prime concern. Therefore, I have forwarded this number to our Security Team to investigate so they can look into the matter and nobody else experiences the same problem. We truly appreciate that you contacted us with the information that can help us with these efforts. Thank you for being a part of the American Express family since 1986.
Sincerely, Email Servicing Team American Express Interactive Services

They say they are American Express but I don't think so. I own an American Express card, I always paid on time and I even exchange secure e-mails with them and they always say to only call the number on the reverse of your card. this must be a phishing intend. Do not release any personal info and in you are in doubt with any other credit card, just ask for their name or ID# and tell them you will call the number in the reverse of your card and you will ask to talk to them. Cheers.

I received 4 calls today. No messages left, no one on the line when I picked up the 4th time. I have an AmEx card but haven't used it in years.

This is American Express. They have been calling me at work. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and highly encourage everyone else to do so. I have told them repeatedly since July to not call me at work yet they continue to do so - even though I have made my payments all within a few days of the due date. I know I might be a day or two late but I always contact them to let them know when it will be paid. It is not as if I avoided them. Now they repeatedly call at work - 4 times yesterday. They cannot legally do this as they have been instructed to not call me at work, but still they continue, but the government will not pursue a class action suit or any other legal action against them unless there are multiple complaints so I suggest if youhave an issue with them, report it to the authorities!

I called AMer Exp and they have no record of having called me, so this may not be them at all... do not give out any info....

North Bethesda Middle School 2011-06-06 20:46:29 Unknown
They have called me 10 times this morning - the first time there was an automated message (American Express), the other 9 times were a hang-up.

Sounds like the SImpsons episode in which Homer ends up annoying all of Springfield with his "Happy Dude" scam, after finding the auto dialer in the trash.
On a side note; AMEX is calling me too, on my company cell phone none the less. And I don't even have an AMEX card!

They kept calling our business. I told them to take our number off. Last thing I told the guy was to go step on a nail.

A coworker and I both got calls from this number within an hour; both to our cell phones (AT&T) for giggles after reading this I called the number...if you listen carefully at the beginning the recorded female voice doesn't actually say "American Express" it sounds like it picks up late and all you hear is: "can express. Please enter your account number now..."
Sam 2011-06-06 20:46:29 Unknown
this is Amex!!! I called and got three different offices. The guy from this office said he was in West Virginia. I was told by the second call that the first guy was calling from Ft Lauderdale!!! Even though it is a North Carolina number they have call centers all over the country and in Toronto Canada. They call even when you are current because they entered a number wrong or you have a name similar to someone else. Be careful not to give our vital information
Rita 2011-06-06 20:46:29 Unknown
Two calls on my cell today from this number - no message left
Armando 2011-06-06 20:46:29 Unknown
I was in a meeting and did not answer, looked it up and it is AMEX, my account was closed, I have an open balance due by the 8th and yet they call. Pain in the BUTTTTTTTTT.
DON"T GO FOR AMEX EVER.
tnn 2011-06-06 20:46:29 Unknown
This number never leave a message. I do not think it is from AMEX even if they say they are. I don't have an AMEX card and I have never applied for one. This is a scam!
tng 2011-06-06 20:46:29 Unknown
another number pretending to be AMEX. I have been getting phone calls from different numbers pretending to be AMEX. They didn't leave any message, when I picked up they pretended to ask for someone then I told them they got the wrong number. They continued asking me whether I'm interested in signing up for an AMEX card by giving them my informations. I told them I'm not interested so stop calling me using different numbers.
This is a SCAM!
