Constantly calls and give option at end to be taken off the call list - yeah, right! What can be done?
betpar1 2013-11-21 20:29:56 Telemarketer
Get a call a day. Always, press the "opt out" or "remove number from list", but don't think it's working on the other end. Ha!

ROBOCALL senior "medical alert bracelet" SCAM
Caller: CallerID "BROOKLYN NY"

They give you the supposed option to delete your number by pressing 9.
It doesn't work.
This is an automated system programmed to dial certain numbers at a pre set time each day.

The "medic alert for seniors" scammers use all false numbers and names to try to take advantage of the elderly! What a disgusting group of lowlifes!

Anyone who is a member, or joins the AARP, can make the decision to opt out of their sharing member's information, if they care to READ before signing up, or at any later point. As far as their purpose is concerned, there are many helpful and informative articles, pertaining to those over the age of 50, that if some people had an open mind, would be helpful to them also.
delilah 2013-11-15 01:28:53 Unknown
I agree, Billie. If you need this type of service, don't wait until someone calls you and offers you a "too good to be true" deal. Look for someone in your area that provides this service. My local Senior Center has brochures for a few providers they have checked out to be authentic.
Never give your credit card number to ANYONE who initiates the call to you. Even your bank and other credit card providers say they will never call you and ask you for credit card numbers. ONLY SCAMMERS WILL INITIATE CALLS TO ASK FOR CREDIT CARD NUMBERS! Whether they are offering you a product or offering to lower interest rates... IT'S A SCAM!

The government, the FTC, does make an effort. Problem is, the Republicans control the budget strings to the FTC and to "cut back Big Government" (read "more money for Big Business) they have hamstrung the FTC.
As for the FCC, it was castrated during the Bush administration.

Thx. I added all these nrs to my blocked list which now has something like 300 blocked caller numbers on it. Google "robo calls North Dakota" and see the game being played. These guys get paid even if you don't answer your phone.

Caller ID as cell phone 347 200 3682. No message was left. I happened to be completing another call at the time they rang, so I answered it, at which time my wife asked who it was, and I said "another scam", and they hung up. Must try this more often. Hope they all (telemarketers) rot in hell. AARP will never get my membership again since they gave all of their weight behind the Obamcare fiasco. Who's got egg on their face now? TIP: Never give out any personal information over the phone, not even your real name or address. Always give false information, it messes them up big time!!!!!!
Lulu 2013-11-14 22:47:51 Unknown
Don't you mean you hope someone will not fall for it??? I certainly hope so!

Since the FTC's list is a joke I just forward these calls to them at (202) 326-2222 and let their system answer them. My phone service provider has an option to immediately forward up to 12 numbers so I never hear a ring and they hear "Thank you for calling the Federal Trade Commission located in Washington dc". If more people could do it and jam their lines maybe they would get off their fat a$$'s that we pay for and do something.
roboedout 2013-11-14 20:55:55 Unknown
But you always hear the phone ring. DUH You are such a hero

How do you get your post to the top of the page? And why does the top post contain an advertisement? Does the AARP support this kind of nonsense? Do they think they are doing themselves a service by associating themselves with these complaints
roboedout 2013-11-14 20:48:14 Unknown
We need these people to support the protection racquet people and their friends the phone company.

Whooooo 2013-11-14 19:29:14 Unknown
unwanted call' am on "No Nott Call" list.
savannah43 2013-11-14 19:15:42 Unknown
"They" don't do the dialing. Their computers do it (robo-calling). That's why it takes a few seconds to get a live person on the line and is also why recorded announcements are all you get most of the time.
savannah43 2013-11-14 19:11:22 Unknown
If you answer, they consider your number to be "live," and they sell it to other telemarketers.
savannah43 2013-11-14 19:08:32 Unknown
Besides shilling for insurance companies, I am not aware of any other purpose that AARP has. Do you know of any?
savannah43 2013-11-14 19:07:04 Unknown
There is no "company." The callers are thieves who want your personal information so they can rip you off. Disconnect your VM or answering machine. Get Caller ID and never answer any incoming number that you don't know.
