I got scammed from the same person, the same way and this person was finally caught. there is a phone # you can call about trying to get your money back.

I am a single mother of 3 girls and was without a car and living at friends homes when I ran across this same ad in Craigslist in August 2008. Unfortunately I was stupid and desperate and I fell for this scam. I lost $2550 of my hard earned saved money in hopes of getting some transportation. I reported this to every agency that I could find in hopes of uncovering the source of this scam but there is no hope of locating this scam ring. It's most likely running from overseas and US agencies have no control over it. It's pretty low that we have to deal with people who actually do things like this but lesson learned (the hard way I might add).

I have filed a local police report, a complaint with the FTC and also www.ic3.gov. I was unaware of the level of ugliness and scams in this world until now. I guess I had to learn the hard way. THIS IS A SCAM. This is a version of the advance-fee-for-something scam where something is a grant, loan, lottery winnings, interest rate reduction, gift card, refund, doggie, cruise, vacation, free gas, etc., and the advance-fee is for tax, shipping, registration, insurance, secure handling, processing, etc. They may send you a fake check, may want your credit/debit card or bank account number,  or tell you to wire cash via Western Union, Moneygram, etc. They can put recurrent difficult-to-cancel monthly charges or a 1-time charge on your card or bank account, and sell account info to other criminals and you'll have to replace accounts altogether. Wired-cash is irretrievable - once it's picked up at the other end, it's untraceable and gone. If they want you to call them up for instructions, they may tell you not to discuss the wire with Western Union desk clerks but the real reason is WU clerks are familiar with these scams and will warn you not to wire the money. Report to US Postal Service Inspectors https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

All filters and freon were replaced and recharged so yes the AC blows cold. Oil changed, transmission fluid too, it shifts like new. Great handling, engine runs perfect and clean.

Same thing just happened to me I'm in Portland, Oregon, and this was also a Craigslist ad. 2000 Honda Accord LX Coupe fully loaded,lots of goodies, lots of photos. I never got a call it was all done by email......He also kept posting the ad and then taking it off. This guys name was David Edwards in the army shipping out to Afganistan in November.....bla bla bla. I wish they would ship his butt off to Afganistan......This particular vehicle books for close to $9000.00 and he was asking $2500.00 got the same fake PROPAY invoice from propaypayments.us The agents name is Robert Simmons in Melville, NY. I couldnt figure out for the life of me why he couldnt sell it right there at home in NY. Thats what held me off at first.

I think I might have been scammed? I replied to a 2000 honda accord coupe for 2650. To send money through Money gram and Lamar Sartor 200 Boadhollow Road,  Melville - NY  11747 will pick up the money and we will be notified when the car is shipped. So what can I do now. We thought that we had checked it all out. going to BBB.org and checking out ProPay. A "david Getto" was getting deployed to Iraq, and needed to sell the car. We ran a car fax on this vin # and everything. Everything came back clean and clear... Is there any legal action we can take?

I just fell for the same scam and I'm grateful for seeing this post first.  I had emailed the seller Michael Duncan, he wrote back saying the same things - he's being deployed in October.  What baffles me the most is why would he include a VIN number for the vehicle, along with so many pictures.  I decided not to waste my money purchasing the report, which I still regret.  I found it ironic, after I emailed him of my interest, within moments the vehicle was pulled from Craigslists site.  I thought it was just because I had shown interest.  I felt so foolish, yet also so lucky at the same time for finding this information

Thank goodness I found this.  I was just about to purchase a 2002 Volvo for $2475.00  I have been writing and asking questions as how to speak with someone.  No one was able to provide a number.  The same...... in the army and needed to sell quickly.   Thank you everyone....
