Did mj actually get the trip?  I am from Canada and got the same call.  I too was gullible, against the wishes of my spouse!!  I lost $398 CDN.  Couldn't book the trip because I was suffering from depression at the time.  What do they say?  Fool me once, your fault.  Fool me a second time, my fault.  Too bad that didn't happen for me.

We actually ended up having no problems booking the trip.  Had a great time, no problems.  We did have to sit through the time share presentation, but got our accomodations for 6 nights, and tickets to Universal Studios.  it worked out to be a good deal, not a scam at all.

I filled out a ballot for a trip back in Nov 09.  Got the call, and found that the trip was $198 per person and we had to  visit a time share and watch a presentation. Gave my credit card info.  We are now trying to book the trip.  Called the number, left a message, and my call was returned.  The guy said he would confirm in the next 48 hours, but just found this site now.
I can't believe that his guy could be doing this scam for over a year without being shut down?  Also surprised that I couldn't find anything other than this thread about it on the internet.
I think my $400 is gone :(

I got the call from 347-294-4657 about an hour ago and I also attended the Golf Expo in Boston this past weekend.  I too was an idiot and gave my cc info even as I questioned the reason for giving it.  I was told the charge was going to be $498.  It seemed legit at first since I had just attended the event and they had some of my information already. They gave me the same story they gave everyone else and that I would receive the information via email within the hour.  Anyway, I felt scammed and called back the number they gave me to make reservations 888-989-5553 and got voicemail saying their hours were from 10-5 p.m., however, their marketing call was after 7 p.m.  Tried to look them up online and found limited information on them and these postings.  I immediately called my cc company and canceled my card.  They said they hadn't received a charge yet from the company.  I was told that if I kept the same cc number the charge could be made and I would have to dispute it and I felt it was easier to cancel the card and just get a new one.  Funny thing is that since then I've received three call backs from the 347-294-4657 number.  One as I was typing this message.  I didn't answer but hoping they realized they couldn't charge the card.   Sorry, one less commission tonight for half way pulling the deal.

got a call from 347-294-4657, they got my info at the Golf Expo in Boston this past weekend. They said that I had entered my information at their booth and that i was the winner of the drawing. i then gave them my CC info (like an idiot) to make the reservations for my prize (vacation to florida and cabo) and they charged $398 on my card. you then are supposed to call them at some point to make the reservations, it is impossible to talk to anyone, and the company, VTS Marketing doesnt even exist. SCAM!!!!

I cant believe i fell for this, and actually thought that i had won something. i called bank of america and they said they can reverse the charge once it posts. i have never had a problem with BOA with any fraudulent charges in the past, and i trust them to take care of things like this. i hope any other victims of this scam report this company to the BBB as i did so this doesn't keep happening.

To all people who went to Ale Fest, you all must have filled out something at some booth for them to get your numbers. You can't trust anyone nowadays. I live way down south and haven't had the pleasure of these calls but to everyone reading this: BEWARE of giving your info, even at some innocent events. Scam artists are lurking around everywhere. If they can get your credit card number, they can get everything you've got. It amazes me that scam artists could easily get all your money, and even steal your identity, open credit cards in your name, but if you or I tried to get a credit card, or try to make a purchase with our own cards, we might have a hard time.
Would someone please invent a device for our phones, that we can just push a button and ZAP these phonies, crooks, unwanted callers just like a bug zapper? We could rid the world of unwanted pests!
I know not ALL telemarketers are crooks, but they are annoying.

I have just started receiving calls from 347-704-3025 too. I haven't stayed on phone long enough to find out who they are. I cut them off when they start talking. They start out asking, in foreign accent I can barely understand, if i want some money. I say no, but they insist that I requested it, then I hang up. Maybe they said "won" some money, which probably leads to the "you only need to pay $1.87" scenario.  I hate the old junk mail, but at least they only had your address. But it is really annoying to receive these unsolisited calls and e-mails, especially on my cell phone, which costs me valuable minutes. I have my cell number on the National No Call List, but it doesn't help because most legit companies share your info with these unsavory ones.
Sorry to rant but I HATE these annoying calls!!

WEALTH, PRIVILEGE, RAPE Financier's grandson in second assault case
BY BARBARA ROSS DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER
Thursday, June 14th 2001, 2:21AM
Eric Lewenstein is a product of privilege - the son of a successful New York physician and the grandson of a wealthy financier and a woman once described as the most-photographed model in the world.
But for the second time in less than five years, the 25-year-old Marymount College student finds himself accused of committing date rape in an East Side restaurant, the Daily News has learned.
Lewenstein is charged with raping and sexually abusing a woman in February at L'Express on Park Ave. South.
Sources said the allegation has prompted investigators to take a second look at a March 1997 date-rape complaint filed against Lewenstein by an aspiring actress from Norway.
Manhattan prosecutors also said they know of two other incidents - in which women accused him of forcible sex - that were not reported to police.
Lewenstein, who is free on $25,000 bail and living with his mother and stepfather in their spacious E. 83rd St. apartment, did not return repeated telephone calls for comment.
But his lawyer, John Carman, said Lewenstein denies raping the woman at L'Express.
"Eric's position is that they did not have intercourse," said Carman. As for the earlier case, the lawyer said authorities are "trying to resurrect a case that wasn't prosecutable to support a case they're having great difficulty with now."
Leon Lewenstein, an obstetrician-gynecologist at Mount Sinai Medical Center, did not want to talk about his son, whose maternal grandfather, David Schulte, is a politically connected financier and member of the city's Board of Correction.
His grandmother Lili Carlton Schulte, who died last year, was a Ford model and the nation's top cover girl in the 1940s.
In the most recent case, Lewenstein's date told police he started kissing her in a rest room of L'Express, then slammed her head into a wall, "ripped her pants off" and raped her.
She reported the assault immediately, but it took two months before Lewenstein was quietly arrested and charged.
In the March 1997 case, the actress told cops that he had attacked and sodomized her in a rest room at Merchants N.Y., a restaurant on First Ave.
But charges were not filed against Lewenstein because the woman could not positively identify him, according to court records.
Later, the actress filed a multimillion-dollar civil suit against Merchants and Lewenstein. It recently was settled out of court for an undisclosed sum.
In an interview this week, the actress insisted she had no trouble picking Lewenstein out of the lineup but added, "I thought there was something slightly different" about him.
"The detectives started harassing me," she said. "They kept saying 'Are you sure?' They said if I was not sure, I could be committing a crime. I could ruin someone for life."
"I said I was 99% sure," but one detective told her later, " 'It's too bad you were not 100% sure because they let him go.' "
The woman, who asked not to be identified, said prosecutors recently called her about the case but that she is reluctant to rehash the past because she is only now beginning to recover.
Investigators believe Lewenstein might have assaulted other women.
At his arraignment in April, Assistant District Attorney Kavita Gopwani said, "This marks the fourth time the defendant has been accused of forcible sex."
The actress said she also believes she was "not the first" woman Lewenstein assaulted because, she said, he knew exactly how to immobilize her.
He "held my hair in a ponytail grip in a way that twisted my neck and paralyzed my spine," she said.
He then "smashed my head against the toilet, the tile floor, the walls," she said. "I would have died if I hadn't covered my forehead with my arms.
"Then he tried to strangle me. I thought I was dead," she said, describing how she almost blacked out. "He tried to kill me in that bathroom. It was not a case of 'I'm ho**y.' He was on a mission. It was scary!"
She told police she escaped from the locked rest room by pretending to black out, opening the door when Lewenstein's back was turned and falling into the arms of a bartender.
In the civil suit against Lewenstein and Merchants, the actress' lawyer, Edward Bailey, suggested that Lewenstein confused his client by substituting his fraternal twin brother, Scott, in the police lineup.
However, authorities said they are confident there was no substitution because Scott Lewenstein was out of the country on the day of the lineup.

Just received call saying I won a vacation from the Ale Fest in Portland, OR.  Got her off the phone by saying that we were driving and my "wife" could not talk.  Will not answer phone when she calls back....  Glad I dodged that bullet.....

So if you give your credit card to them do you get nothing, or is there actually some type of vacation where you have to look at time shares or some other crap...

I went to the Portland Winter Ale Fest as well and was bugged by those people for three days straight until I finally gave them my number. Just received a call from this number last night- after 11pm... No voicemail. We know the guys who puts on the Ale Fest every year and am curious to know why they'd allow these scammers to set up shop at their festival (not sure how that works, but now I'm curious). I also just visited their website and it appears to be "homemade" site - a do-it-yourself wepbage maker and does not look like the website of a reputable company. Beware.

Wasn't Winter Ale Fest awesome? The only bad taste that I left with wasn't a seasonal beer that was too hoppy, but unfortunately the bad taste came tonight when I got that call. I am a gullible man and really wanted to give my parents a great wedding anniversary party. Guess not.

The number I got was 347-294-4657.

Sorry if that happened to you. Try to get out of it ASAP.

I received a call from this number probably shortly before or after XYZ did.  I was busy so just let my phone ring and then checked to see what was up when I had the time.  I'm glad I wasn't available to take the call and that a site like this exists!  (I too went to the Portland Winter Alefest.)

I got the same call, from the same 347 294 4658 number, same VTS Marketing (Vacation Travel Services), same story about how they got my name at the Portland Winter Alefest.  Same pressure.  I actually thought it might be real because I heard about how high pressure timeshare selling can be, and she mentioned a timeshare-type meeting.  Then I found this page.  Thanks Internet.

I fell for it.  I've never fallen for anything like this before, but since I submitted a card at an actual event I would have thought the event would have screened this type of thing better.

Either way, same story.  I was called, I gave my cc info, instantly regretted it and had to wait until the payment went through on my card to dispute it (showed as pending for a couple days).  I tried calling direct to request a cancellation, emailed, etc...but good luck contacting them!

Anyone thinking this isn't a scam, try calling the number on their website and seeing if you can contact anyone.  www.vtsmarketing.com

For anyone else who has been scammed, call your credit card company and dispute the charge!  They reversed mine within 48 hours!

I just got a call from 347 294 4658, girl named Gloria sounded really sincere, and chatty.  Talked me through two 7-day vacations I had won, one in Orlando and one in Cabo.  Then asked for $199 for each person going on the trip, as a processing fee.  She wouldn't let me hang up or call back, or even double check their authenticity.

She said she got my info from a raffle I'd filled out at an ale festival in Portland, OR.  She called at 7 PM PST, on a Monday, from New York, which was even sketchier.  I might have bit, but my girlfriend was smarter than I was and told me to hang up.  I'm glad this site exists.

This is the message they post on craiglist to make women think they make a lot of money, which is a lie! Then he starts stalking these girls with his fake name as they are not aware of who he is.!  Since his real name cannot be revealed he uses these methods to get to know more girls and create the image of a successful MAN which he is NOT.
