II have fun with these callers.  I let them go through their spiel, act like I'm interested, etc.  Then when they start asking for personal information, I practice using some language I learned from a drunken sailor years ago!  Does not good - the calls still come, but it's wonderful therapy for venting frustrations.

"The FBI reports that there is a home break-in every 20 minutes. Local police advise you to protect your home. If you will allow us to place a small sign in your yard, we will install an alarm system for free"

But they will sure charge you a monthly fee for monitoring your alarm. I get this robo-call every few months.

I do get your point, however the explosion of unwanted solicitations by robos and increasingly obnoxious callers has made this and other similar sites a kind of "group therapy", where one can vent his frustration over the annoyances, share anecdotes, inform others and just maybe get a little chuckle out of an otherwise pain in the rear end.  Some may think that an omnipotent governmental agency could actually do something to end the calls, but realistically, it is not going to happen.  Some people faithfully report unwanted calls to the authorities, but others believe that it will do no good.  Everyone commenting here has his own reason /agenda, and save for the trolls and spammers, let's please just live and let live.

Caller ID reads, Customer Support

The cons offer a free alarm. Yeah Right!

Don't know if it's the same company, but they call using different names and phone numbers. All offer free alarms.

Never give your name or any information.

I am not asking any caller to stop calling me.
I am reporting the phone numbers they use to call.
I am not reporting their phone numbers to get anyone arrested.
I am reporting the phone numbers used so other people can find them vias internet searches.
That is the purpose of this site and other similar different websites.
I report the phone nu,ber as being a problem so other people can find it.
That is what this site, and other similar sites are about, and what they are for, and it is enough of a purpose to use it for that.
Alright?  How about 'the heigth' of 'think it through just a bit' instead of just posting wise a** remarks?

Saying "Please stop calling me!" in this or any forum is the height on naivete (sp) and little more than a confirmation of an 'entitlement mentality'. We live in America, not in a TV show. The government has neither the financial OR manpower resources to arrest just anyone who pesters us. The DNC list registers legitimate complainers, nothing more. (.. 'witness credibility'..) Only when we DON'T REPORT calls is it really a "joke", and the joke is then on us for not doing OUR part.

An answering machine 'picking up' only legitimizes a number to re-sellers. Unplug it! Aunt Martha will call back if uncle Fred is in ICU again, perhaps from a recognizable number next time. If you're not a doctor you can't do much for him anyway, and you likely won't be written out of his will for not answering right away.

NO ONE will call you to hand out money. As said above, don't jump to every ring as though they will. Caller ID is a useful tool by itself. I've been 'googling' unfamiliar numbers for years, and often end up here. Haven't missed an important call yet, but always manage to call the right folks back when an order comes in or my 'whatever' is fixed and ready to be picked up.

Use your intelligence, not your emotion. Long reads on page one are a big help. If they seem a bit much, remember that even if instant gratification is what everyone wants nowadays no one should hold their breath on getting it. Beating yourself up won't discourage a crook, only make you a more frustrated victim and easier prey. Not reporting a call is like saying 'my vote doesn't count'.

Thanks to all for checking in here! It helps us cope, but winning a battle won't end the war. Reporting to DNC & others gives them ammo to fight with. We can either help out or just complain. If there's no end to it, would it be reassuring to know you got a few punches in???

Got a call as described by others. Caller ID said Customer Suppor.  I have the Ooma phone system. I don't know how many numbers I can block but I have over 100 blocked. I never answer the phone if I don't know the number or the name.  On Ooma you can block any call that is identified. You can also block all calls based on their scammers data base.  I routinely look at the call logs and block any number I don't recognize that is listed as a missed call. I got rid of the ATT land line and got Ooma which connects via your cable. I love it. Never been down yet.  They have a great deal on getting caller ID, 3 way calling for $15 or less every month. With ATT basic service with no caller ID etc was $60 a month.  Again I love my Ooma.  I would pay double the price for it. Although I still get a few junk calls that slip through, I have experience many fewer of these calls.

Here we go again...Caller ID showed NY 347-502-2525.  No message left Just two hours after that...615-387-1027.  Fairview TX.  I am sick of these calls.  I pay for phone service and these caLLS HAVE FILLED UP THE BLOCKING CAPABILITY ON MY PHONE TWICE IN THE LAST 6 MONTHS.  REPORTING THEM tO fcc DOES NOT HELP I also paid to unlist my number.  Did not work..I had to pay extra to phone company for that.  I finally called them and said take me off the unlisted phone list.  It did not work and why should I pay extra for it?! The stupid calls still come through.  FCC should not charge us for phone use if nothing is done regarding these unwanted, consistent calls.

Charities or not you can still block their calls. See my above post. If you don't have that ability through your phone company I've heard of something you can buy that can block up to 1500 numbers. I'd look into that. You don't have to put up with all those annoying calls.

Call your phone company and see if you have the ability to block calls. I found that for free I could block up to 10 calls. When you get one of these repeating calls you can go to star 60 and follow the instructions. One prompt says what to do to block the latest call. You press a couple of buttons and it's blocked until you take it off your block list. East to do and free.

I answered and got to a live person.  I know, people here say don't answer but I try to keep them on the line as long as I possibly can.  If I can waste their time then I win the game.  Today I told her to hold on as someone just rang the doorbell.  It only kept her on the line for about 30 seconds but I'll do better next time.  Try to beat 30 seconds!  Just don't give her any information!!

My caller ID records their number and my answering machine is set to two rings announce only.  They receive this message:  "HELLO, YOUR PHONE NUMBER HAS BEEN NOTED. GOODBYE."  They can not leave their message on my answering machine so they are totally wasting their time.  Repeated callers are blocked but few call back more than once or twice.  Then at my convenience, I can call back anyone that I think may be important.  If I am unsure of the caller I call them thru Google Gmail so they never know who is calling.  It works for me!

If you get a call from this telemarketer, please file a complaint with the FCC and FTC: http://www.fcc.gov/complaints and https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx. If they receive enough complaints, they'll investigate. In addition, they send information on how to file a lawsuit. Recently, they shut down five of these scams.

The national pandemic of telephone terrorism perpetrated by desperate criminal collection agencies and scam artists of every despicable sort is because they are trying to terrorize people who are naive enough to answer and submit to unsolicited telephone calls or written "collection" letters that have no legitimate legal debt associated with them or any of the companies, universities, or whomever else they claim to represent. Because most "little guys" were bankrupted by the criminal Wall St / Congress / Big Oil / Big Bankers / Big Business / Military / Robber Barons, so the desperate collection agencies are attempting to collect unpaid debts from innocent people by terrorizing them into submission. News reports claim that some of these nefarious rogue calls are originating from overseas, where the caller claims to be a relative down on his or her luck who needs hundreds or thousands of dollars to get out of trouble, a policeman or government agent threatening their unwitting victims with lawsuits, fines, garnishments, seizures of property and imprisonment, and any other unconscionable tactic they can use to terrify and swindle the unwary out of their life savings.

Word of advice. NEVER answer any calls you don't recognize or are not expecting. Use selective call rejection service if available, or switch to an Internet-based telephone service which provides comprehensive call rejection options. If rogue calls become chronic, turn off all the ringers on all of your phones except one, and set its volume to the minimum setting. Digital hardware call blockers, the popular "DIGITONE Call Blocker 10" for example, could help or do harm depending on how high-tech and aggressive the rogue callers are against your phone number. The more technology you use against them, the more likely they will use technology more aggressively against you to the point where your phone could ring more frequently from rogue calls and in middle of the night hours. So staying lower-tech could actually help to keep your phone a bit more under their unrelenting predatory radar. If you don't answer the call and the caller is legitimate, they will usually leave a voicemail after the first or second try. Rogue callers almost never leave voicemail messages because that could be used as evidence against them if it came to a lawsuit, albeit spoofed calls are backed by governments and corporations, so there is nothing the little guy can do against such illegitimate activities but to block and ignore them. If you receive a rogue letter in the mail warning you of some "collection" action against you, if you don't actually owe it, reply with a short letter stating that you don't owe it. Or if you do owe all or part of it, reply with something like "You claim I owe you a debt. Under §809 FDCPA, I request validation of this debt."

Only give them your name as THEY have written it to you (e.g. ?John Doe? not ?Jonathon Q. Doe? or however you normally sign your own name), address, and the account number they report. But if you do not owe the debt (zombie debt, aged debt, mistaken or stolen identity, forgery, etc.) state that you have never done any business with them or with the (alleged) original creditor of any kind and you expect the collection agency to close the matter, stop harassing you and take any bad credit marks they've caused off of your credit rating, and furthermore, that any further contact from them must be in writing on their official business correspondence letterhead. Send your letter to them a.s.a.p., always within thirty days, first class certified mail return receipt requested. If they refuse it and you get the letter back unopened, leave it unopened and save it in your files as evidence against them should they pursue legal action against you. If they did receive it and continue to pursue action against you, let them. The judge will throw it out of court. If the rogue collection agency sells your account to another rogue collection agency just tell them the claim has been proven invalid and offer to send them a copy of your letter to the previous rogue collection agency.

Warn all your friends about this rash of desperate collection agency terrorism, and how to combat it. Knowledge is power. The more you learn how to combat rogue collection agencies, back-taxes scammers, phishing scammers, "faith and family" scammers, political action committees and other low-life flimflammers, the more you will learn how easy it is to do.

Above all, keep a record of everything, of every rogue call w/ caller ID information displayed including time and date of each call. Maintain a complete file on any snail-mailed intimidation from rogue collection agencies, including copies of all correspondences and postal receipts. Reporting rogue calls on sites like 800notes.com, whocallsme.com, phoneowner.info is a great idea too, because many people find these sites by googling for the rogue number(s) after receiving calls from them.

The FTC is a worthless government leach! I've been on the do not call list for almost 5 years and it's a waste of time. I've gotten over 1,800 unwanted calls so far and turned in complants on every one of them. How about ALA. (AMERICAN LUNG ASSOCIATION)  over 31 times. Not to be outdone, how about MARCH OF DIMES? 96 times! You heard right, 96 times, no message. The FTC says they are charities. I say they are a public nuisance.

On the national do not call list for over a year ----hmmmm maybe I signed up for the DO CALL list instead. Hmmm Good to see that the govt is working at peak performance in helping its citizens. Next is to file a complain with the BBB and see what they will do. This is so much fun!!!!!!!
