I was told that this caller was with :
Mark Rothman and Associates Inc
675 3rd Ave
New York, NY 10017

However, I do not believe it to be true.  I was told that I was being taken to court for action against me for a pay day loan taken on or arount October 9th, 2012.  And that this action was being taken out on me in the state of Virginia.

1.  I have never recieved a payday loan from any company.  They said it was direct deposited in my account.  And I can prove it was not.
2.  I have not resided in Virginia since October 2011.

This is not the first time I have recieved these fraudlent calls.  The last time I got a call like this I told them to take me to court.  And I will hire an attorney and sue them for Libel, Slander and Harrasment.  Those calls stopped.

But it appears they started again.  I told this guy to kiss my (you know what) and go ahead and take my (you know what) to court  because I did not recieve any funds and I will have a field day sueing his company!

Who can I notify of this bogus B/S!

DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE!
They are indian scammers, reading off of a script.  They get peoples information and try and use scare tactics.  Secret service told me last year, even if you owe money on a loan, you can't be imprisoned for it.  They do not stop calling, so ignore them, don't talk to them.
They have called me for at least two years, and they can change their number anytime they want.
You are not in trouble.  Tell the indian dude to **c* off.

Different names everytime they call.  They are part of an indian scammers group.  They busted them up middle of last year and arrested many people.  You are not in trouble, but your personal information has been compromised.  I fell for this year before last, and had to speak with the secret service about my complaint.  Never saw my money, but know that you are not in trouble.

Advance America called my employer stating that I owe them $5487.87 for a pay day loan. I never received this loan nor did I apply for it. They have my social, birthdate, drivers licence, address and other information. They told me that if I didn't pay them I would be charged for 3 count of criminal allegations of check fraud and I would be arrested,

I came home from work today and there was a message left on my answering machine.  When I tried to listen to the name it sounded like it came from Mark Rothmam and Associates. (They have used this name in previous statements that I just read here). They left a message that if I didn't call them or have an attorney call them right away they were going to send someone to my work the next day. And that I was facing criminal charges.  They said they were calling from NYC.

They knew I lived in Albany County (what they didn't know is that I WORK for ALBANY COUNTY) so I was really afraid.  I actually called this person back (as I am currently going through a bankrupsy).....  I had my dad call them.............they didn't want him to pay in any other way then to go to WALMART, no joke, to buy 2 of the GREEN DOT credit cards and pay them a total of 850.00.  We are not!

Sometime in 2012 my husband took out a pay day loan. But it was paid off.  I was/am really afraid. I thought all the phone calls (from REAL DEBTORS) had stopped. Now I was almost about to get scammed from people who are NOT LEGIT.

DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE.  I didn't, my father and I actually looked this number up on line.  I am going to contact my LEGIT bankrusy attorney... and find out what I can do about this.

This is SO WRONG. These people are NASTY, RUDE, and are really playing on the fear of people in an age where financially, a lot of people are having trouble making ends meet.

I am going to call the Federal Trade Commission.

I just received a call from this same number. They are some sort of law firm for Advance cash America Advance? They claim that I have made a payday loan with them and haven't responded or paid. My husband is military so we do not need or do payday loans. They claimed it went an account I have never heard of at my bank. They have my place of work from last year. I don't work there anymore however. They also have my old address and social apparently. I'm being threatened with 3 criminal allegations of check fraud and owe 5000$ or something like that. Im going to my bank today to report a scam because we have never used this service.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

these scammers were calling me with a different number and names last year in the summer. i knew it was a scam right away and i js played along to f*** with them. when i called their bluff about them coming to "arrest me at work and take me to jail unless i pay 300 something dollars" i said ok... im waiting? and nothing ever happend and they stopped calling. but today i got a call to my cell and they left a message. its always the same thing "very urgent, time sensitive, call from (law office) or (so and so and associates), do not disregard" blah blah blah. i deleted it and then they called my work. luckily im front desk receptionist so i answer the phone and he said his name was Ron Baxter heavy Indian accent. i pretended to be helpful and told him that "that person is no longer employed with us" and he politely said sorry and hung up. i can just block the number from my cell so i dont mind them calling it i just dont want them calling my work so hopefully they dont call back. ill just keep telling them 'they dont work here" hopefully they just go away again

Yes I have received a phone call today from this person acting as a he works for a law firm, saying that I am going to be sued and that the police will take from my place of work in the morning. GOOD LUCK because I live in a whole another state.
3 days ago they called from a different number claiming his name was David Cooper. I was being sued for a cash advance loan, which I never took out.
So I reported the number to www.IC3.gov FBI and purchase identity theft protection

I got several messages from Mick Johnson threatening me and asking for my attorney to return his call. I called this number back.  They answered as a law firm. I told them stop harrassing me as I will report them  to the  FTC. They started throwing f bombs everywhere and I commented how unprofessional of a law firm to cuss out callers. I told.them lose my number, what to suck and I will press charges if they call back.

I received a call and a very threatening message. When I called back, a guy with heavy accent, told me how they were taking me to court at 11am the next day for a payday loan. After he got done, he says, "are you nervous/concerned"? When I showed him that I wasn't, he then stated he would send the police to my address (from 5 years ago), and they would arrest me in the AM because I was a "criminal". He then called me the "N" word and told me not to call his number anymore. This is ridiculous, and it happens every once in a while. But it MUST stop.

Coworker of mine received threatening messages on her cell from this number.  When she called back from work to try to see what the issue is, the man on the other end (heavy accent) started getting a major attitude and she hung up.  He called back for 2-3 minutes straight (she did not answer).  This will be reported to the FTC.
