This guy has moved onto a more elaborate scheme now.  Responded to some used furniture on Craigs List and sent "certified check"  wanted us to pay movers with it as well (wanted us to cash check and immediately western union balance of money to movers).  Smelled of a scam from the start so I got the police and fraud dept from my bank involved.  Sounds like they have enough for an arrest.  He is texting from numbers 352-316-7824 as well as 831-613-1722 and calling from 347-687-0495.  The address he wanted money Western Union to is:

Yes, 100% a scam. The real person behind this scam is Carnell Simmons. Also goes by the name Johnson Wallice and one of the emails used is Johnson.wallice@hotmail.com. .

Do not fall for this scam artist. He advertises jobs being offered on different sites as well as Craigslist.

Now from my further look into this address it is currently listed as for sale on a website. How can these people get away with this?

TO GOOD TO BE TRUE for the rent to be only  $900 INCLUDING utilities.Therefore I went to look at the apartment where he claims he owns, the building does exist but the apartment number DOES NOT!!!

I then went home and googled his name, which of course came up SCAM, his phone number SCAM, and he speaks english but  sounds like he is a  foreigner.

please always RESEARCH FOR NAMES, PHONE NUMBER

Also, if the person is overseas its most likely  a SCAM

I was scammed through your name; Wellington Holbrook, who sd he owned an apartment @ 10010 67th Road #3A, Forest Hills NY 11375. Asked me for 2,800 on 2/11/12.

This number just texted me about a "Free" $1000 gift card and sent a link...SCAM

Received several sms messages claiming I won a $1000 gift card from Best Buy.  Been deleting the messages almost daily.

I don't know how can people fall for this, is so obvious. YOU GUYS CAN'T send money out like that. Usually all scammers live far far away, and or want things first (money or personal info) today I recieved an email from this WELLIGTON guy and as soon as read the story I laughed! Come on Craigslist before  was real and now has become a  show of sccamers.

He is using a different name,different phone, and "story", similar to before though, uses the email address <famedxy@yahoo.com> :

Here is the email he sent me, and that I unfortunately filled out. Glad I found this post before he has anymore information on me/we met/took my money. I am worried about my identity, but have warned Craigslist, both in the US and Canada. Sent all of the information I could about the matter. I urge everyone else to do so as well.

Sadly, this individual - whoever he is - has ripped off my name and my identity and is trying to scam people in NY.  I am a Canadian, live here and work here, and have no business in the USA.  Ironically, Sam Lamb is a colleague of mine here in Alberta, and clearly they are doing the same to him.  I am curious if there is any legal way for me to have him cease and desist (we have our lawyers on that).  Very sad that people would do something like this.
