Received a text message from WeRmp3.com advertising music downloads at .08 cents.  I had a suspicion is was spam or fraudulent, so sent back a text message warning them it is illegal to send unsolicited messages as I am on Do Not Call Registry.

The phone number was different 503-995-8902.  DON'T respond!!

Received a message from them saying
"Fwd;Fwd:February only weRmp3.com has music for only 8cents a song! Over 5 Million songs to choose from! Go now weRmp3.com! Better than iTunes & works w/ipod"

yesterday received text message from 360-449-9731 phone number:
'send this to 10 of your friends-weRmp3.com (8cents/song) and you will have good luck for 100 yrs with good music (I will be charged for this text message)'

Get ringtones

Got the same message as everyone else here only from 503-995-8902 which, according to whitepages.com, is a cell phone in Portland, Oregon.  I went to their website and now they are offering 30 cents credit to "compensate" you for getting unwanted text messages.  I think Verizon charges 20 cents per msg. I filed a complaint with the FCC and going to call Verizon shortly.

I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO CONTACT THEM O/PHONE - THEY REQUIRE YOU TO ACCESS THE NET TO OPT OUT BUT THEY WANT MORE INFO FROM YOU AS WELL ie: CREDIT CARD #, E-MAIL ADDRESS, ETC. - AN OBVIOUS SCAM - I'VE ALERTED MY CELL COMPANY SO THEY CAN REVERSE TEXT CHARGES TO MY PHONE, THEY'VE SUGGESTED TO TEXT THEM BACK TO 'STOP'.

http://www.topix.net/forum/gadgets/ipod/TJ93J3SBMAN130612#lastPost what appears to be the customer service email address of this weRmp3.com site: support@wermp3.com.  Maybe if we flood their mailbox with angry emails they may think twice about their advertising campaign?

I got an unsolicited text message from these clowns.  Naturally the phone number they provided isn't accessible, so the only way you can opt out is to register for their site or text back.  I don't text.  So I have to pay for their unsolicited text message and the one to send back to them if opt out their way.  Their website has a bogus message about not contacting opted out numbers but some "fall through the cracks."  I blocked their number with my cell phone provider.  I filed a complaint with the national do not call registry.  If we all do this, maybe somebody will take action and shut these folks down.

I received the same stupid message. I called Verizon's customer service and they credited me the $.10 (hey, I know it's just a dime but it's the principle of the matter!) and they blocked that number to my phone, plus reported them to the powers that be that these jokers are spamming. So call customer service and report these creeps!

Verizon charges ($4.99 /  mo is what they told me just now) to block text messages.  So it's in Verizon's interest to encourage text message spammers, and so of course they're not going to "be able to do anything to stop them."  For that reason, Verizon sucks just as much as weRmp3.com does.

BTW: the caller ID number they left on my phone was 360-936-4550.

I just called Verizon and did the same! the only down side to that is Verizon can charge up to $9.99 monthly for the "Premium Text Block" depending on the amout of incoming texts you get.

I just got this message a few minutes ago. I'm one Verizon! Has anyone stopped recieving them after they started getting them? i'm not happy about getting it, but if this is the only one i get then no big deal. Should i call Verizon about this and see what they can do?

Just wanted to add the 360 #'s reported

They generate phone numbers randomly and it is irrelevant that you are on the do-not-call list.

If by "start of more of the same" you are referring to random SMS spam that has been going on for over a decade, well, you are in for a rather cruel awakening, my friend.

I've reported wermp3.com to their registrant (imena.ua) for having fake registration information (according to whois wermp3.com). I received an email response from the registrant today stating that they would "take all necessary action". I also reported them to I3C. Wermp3.com was just created on January 19th and all the SMS spam reports are recent, so I'm sure it will stop soon enough.
