Slightly different.   I got a very official looking STATEMENT from DNS, with my company name, account number and other seemingly personal info.   From all appearances, it looked like I owed them a fee for DNS backup services, until you read the buried print within more text in the body that says " this is a solicitation for the order of goods or services, or both, and not a bill, invoice or statement of account due".   Yet the bottom portion detached with a payment voucher.    Designed to look legitimate.  Can see how a busy business owner or bookkeeper can fall into their NASTY TRAP.

If you really like to have fun with this type of call, look online for surveys, marketing deals, insurance quote offers etc and input this as your number. If 100 people enter it on 10 forms each they get 1000's of unwanted call backs tying up the number. Also, you get the satisfaction of knowing that you are now wasteing some telemarketers time by having them call another telemarketer.

It works best when you give the number to some other outfit that uses an automated dialer, or better yet a blaster campaign caller (think bill collectors). An automated dialer checks to see if the call was answered, and if there was human response (any recorded message is identified as an answering machine). An answered call with no response is usually defaulted to a 4 hour call back pattern, a busy signal gets 15 minutes between calls, and a live human response that was not actionable gets an 8 hour reprieve. So every time you give the offending number to a webpage that inputs it into an automated dialer you can expect it to call it back something like 3 times per day, per entry. (You can see how it doesnt take too many people doing this to wreck a PBX.) It's essencially a denial of service attack, only by telephone rather than internet.

This number keeps calling, leaves no message. I am on a DO NOT CALL LIST!

These are the telephone numbers of harassment callers from 3rd March to 4th April, 2012, made on my residence phone and cell phone.  All numbers were listed on 800notes.com by other people who had received harassment calls from these numbers.

All these numbers were of unknown persons or not recognized by me as companies I knew.  After the first two or three times I stopped answering them and simply rejected the calls unanswered or deleted unheard or unread any messages they left.

The one thing that seems to cause them to stop calling is to simply allow no contact with the harasser who is calling. It seems to me that the harassers purpose of making contact with the called individual is thwarted by simply rejecting him and declining to pay any attention to him at all. This works for telemarketer, solicitors, and so-called surveyors as well. The one thing none of them can abide is to be ignored. If you prevent any contact whatsoever; they lose, you win. When you answer a call or listen to or read a message; the harasser smiles and you become frustrated.  If you answer and immediately hang-up or delete any message; you smile and the harasser becomes frustrated. Right?

STOP CALLING ME!!!

These jerks have called me six times today. Really sick of it.

Here is what I would like to know...who sold this jerk our numbers? It had to have been provided from some purchase.  We need to find the common link for all of us and pressure them into explaining why they sold our number to these people.  They are relentless.  They continually call, although I pressed "1" and they call before 8am, which really pisses me off.  I filed a complaint today in the No Call Registry, although they probably found some stupid loophole that allows them to call.  This same guy used to call me from Oregon.  My buddy and I are both getting calls and we purchased those Healthmaster blenders...that was one thought of who sold our cell numbers to "Tom".

I called the number back and it rings for a long time before an automated message comes up and says "Hello and thank you for calling back. You have recieved a marketing call from an organization...press 1 at any time to be added to this company's do not call list..."

For the last two days I have recived 6 to 8 calls a day.

This is a marketing company calling on behalf of Vivint, a home security company located in Salt Lake City. You can call Vivint directly at 800 216 5232 and tell them to direct their marketing company to stop calling you and comply with the Do Not Call list. See their website vivint.com

I received dozens upon dozens of calls from a number in Tilimook, OR wanting to sell me a home security system. I answered the first couple of times and TOLD them "I'm on the do not call list, don't call me, take me off your database." I continued to get calls.  It was event the same guy - Tom. I reminded him of our last conversation and he hung up on me. Then called me back the next day. I didn't answer and stopped answering calls from numbers I don't recognize.

After weeks of these calls I called the number back -after hours- to find out who the company was so I could report them and got a recording to opt out of receiving calls from them. "Press 1" They did not say the name of the company - which was smart of them because I will report them if I ever find out who they are. That Tilmook number continued to call me then stopped after 4-5 days of me "opting out" (so far).

I do NOT answer calls from numbers I don't recognize anymore. I AM on the DO NOT CALL LIST and have been for years. The DO NOT CALL list exists so we don't have to be harrassed like this from companies/politics/telemarkerters/surveys we have no interest in.  I shouldn't have to track down a company to ask them to leave me alone - that's why I'm on the DO NOT CALL LIST. Apparently the system has failed again and the general public suffers.

They have been calling me for a long time. I've told them to stop calling me three or four times (hopefully the last one was today). I called my cell phone company and complained to them and they suggested I put myself on the do not call list. So I did. They said it woud take about 31 days to take effect. It's been well past 31 days and they keep calling. Also, I have no clue how they found my cell phone number in the first place! I never give it out. I always put down my home number if a phone number is ever required. These people make me extremely mad... Does anybody know what the companies name is?

These people keep calling me I am on the donot call list.  I guess it just does not matter..

Keeps calling and leaving me message

This number called me today, I answered, then they immediately hung up! By the way, I use an iPhone and my carrier is AT&T. Not sure why those details would matter, but someone here seemed to think those two things had a common correlation for the reason towards getting this call. That reasoning sounds frakkin daft to me, but whatever.

They keep calling my cell.  I am on the no call list.

Thomas from Home Protection (or something similar). I didn't listen. He asked how I was today and I told him "Do not call me again" and hung up. Apparently, the National Do-Not-Call registry is useless.

My caller I.D. shows the name for this number as: "New A Co"

I signed up on the 'do not call list', I bet that's where he got my number. I have tried pressing 1 to be taken off their calling list. I have told him to take me off his calling list. Again today I got the call, I said" Take me off your calling list, this is at least the 5th time I've told you to take me off your calling list!" He said sure no problem (the same thing he said last time, too). I asked him to send me a confirmation in the mail, he laughed and hung up.

I say what we should do is play his game. Lets all call his number back and start harassing him!

Keeps calling leaves no message

This number calls me 3 times per day. It is an automated system that says that it is "Tom from home security". It then asks if you are a homeowner. If you reply "no", it just proceeds as if you said "yes", and tries to solicit personal information to give to a representative. If you say that the homeowner isn't available, they just call back again later. If you say "remove" or "stop" at any time during the call, it automatically says "okay, I'll call back at a better time." and hangs up. This number starts calling me again every couple months, even after I have opted out. The automated system makes it impossible to opt out of this "offer" to get a free $850 security system in my home (I live in an apartment) for the price of placing a sign in my yard (don't have one).

This company is beyond criminal!!!!!They call my cell every 2 hours.. I have been on the DO NOT CALL LIST since the beginning.  I report EVERY SINGLE CALL to the Do Not Call Website for whatever good it does!!!!!!

Maybe we all just let ol' Tom come by and put his sign in our yard the meet him with a baseball bat and claim self defense...
