I've been getting the same phone calls 2 - 3 times a day for over a year now on my land line phone. I'm home most of the time when the call comes thru however all my calls go first to the answering machine and if I want to talk to the caller I pick up. One time I picked up and to them that I'm on the do not call list and politely asked them to not call my number again; the woman (sounded like a young girl) was nasty and said that she cannot do that and hung up on me. The calls continued and after approx a year of these messages it hit me...I started messing with the caller/robot by tapping the button the answering machine which cuts them off. I hope I'm sending the message to whomever it is that their message isn't getting through whether or not it is a live person or robotic call. If it doesn't work, I'm having fun doing what I'm doing.

Also, I've heard from several sources that you should never press a number to disconnect the call. what that does is confirm that the phone number that they (or automatically was) dialed is a valid number whereby they keep on calling. I don't have caller id.

There are at least two options for those bothered by people originating these offensive calls:
1. Go to www.fcc.com and click on the electronic complaint form, filling out each of the entries (takes about two minutes), identifying the date and time of the unwanted call(s), any identifying information from Caller ID ("Unavailable" is a valid entry), your number where the call was received and your name, street and email addresses. The FCC will immediately respond with an email to you, identifying the file number assigned to your complaint. If everyone filed these complaints to the FCC, that deluge will prompt an investigation and likely a fine on the calling party.
2. I followed a recommendation from a comment listed elsewhere on 800Notes, where that person was extremely frustrated over calls from a number different than 360-529-6183 (as the above folks obviously are) and purchased a DIGITONE Call Blocker from www.digitone.com Three features attracted my interest: a) I now can block up to 80 specific telephone numbers, b) This device has "First Ring Supression." meaning that you will not even hear the first ring!!, c) you can block entire area codes, a feature that can be used to block all 800, 866, 877, etc. numbers or those from specific (not toll-free) numbers. There may be other devices available, too. I saw immediate success with the one I purchased.

Even so, I regularly report annoying/illegal/robo calls, etc. to the FCC. Now that I also use the DIGITONE device these annoying calls have been greatly reduced in number.

I actually talked to the person since it showed up as a local number for me in Texas.  It was from the democrat party asking for $100.00 for the cause.  Since politicians get their own money (and billions and billions of dollars to waste), I said that I do not contribute to political parties and left it at that and said goodbye and hung up.
I will block this number in case they did not get the message and since political get a free ride with the do not call list.

I would take verizon  to local small claims court.

Please immediately report each and every one of these illegal robo scam calls that you receive to www.donotcall.gov.  

You can gripe that it doesn't work, but they cannot do anything about it unless and until we report it!

They call my parents' house all the time saying they can lower our interest rate on our cc.They never say which one of the three adults who lives here they are calling for.Which doesn't matter any ways because we only have debit cards.We don't have any cc.I wish they quit calling us.What's really funny they say everytime they call and leave a message it's our last chance 2 take advantage of a lower interest rate

I do know however if it's coming up "CNAM" then it's not legit. CNAM is where a company puts their name for caller id.

I get calls from CNAM also, I'm going to try calling local TV stations and see if they will do something,it seems to work with other things. Maybe try e-mailing the Anderson Cooper Show.

They called, I did not answer.  I like to use my cell minutes for good, not evil.

They called me but I dont answer numbers I dont know. They didnt leave a message or anything. Its just a missed call.

Credit Fraud scam

Called for first time, we just moved into a new home.  Our home number did not change.  Caller ID said CNAM answered and no one there.  Called back and got a recorded message. It prompted me to hit 1 if I no longer wanted to receive calls from them, then recording said thank you and that it would take 24 hours before that to take effect.  The recording said it was a marketing call, I received a phone call only 5 minutes before this and it was marked as private.  I reported this CNAM company, not that it will do anything.  I have free long distance so if they continue to call me, I will call them right back after they hang up.  I will not take harrassment from them, otherwise I will do the same back to them.

Asked to have number removed...man hung up before I could verify my number.

Do Not Call is a joke, they do NOTHING.  You will  spend lots of time filling out useless information on a form and  then they will tell you that you didn't do it right, so they can't do anything.  Best just to hang up on this worthless trash, or get an insult in just for fun before you hang up.

They have also done this to me.  I have gotten these calls on my cell which I have on the Do Not Call List and when I asked to be taken off of their list of numbers they just hang up.  I am reporting them cause I am so tired of them calling all day long.

I keep getting calls from this number and they want to lower my intest rate. I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST> but they do not care.

neither the federal government, nor the state of texas, will do anything about these calls.  They really do not care.   It should be called the National Do Not Care program

I pressed 9 to have my name removed from the list and a guy named Don answered and said 'are you responding to our ad for lower rates'?  and I said..no...I pressed 9 to be taken off the list.  And he said..that isn't ever going to happen (mumble) " and then he hung up

Keeps on Calling!! Hangs up everytime you question them. Called the number back and its not in service. Next time Im going to play along!
