I used the opt out callback thing as well. After opting out 3 times from 3 different numbers (they all have the recording with "Ann" if you call back), I realized that my number is not dropped at all, or if it is, it is just dropped from the list of the number that called me. And apparently passed on to another number. This could go on forever. And I can't block it because they call from a new number each time. I don't think there is any way to stop this except just not answering a call from an unknown number, but there ought to be a way to report this (besides this forum). Anyone?

This telephone number belongs to Pacific Telecom Communications Group, which is operated by Steve Hamilton. They insist that they do not initiate illegal telemarketing calls, however they are involved in managing the calling lists for their "3rd party contractors" who make the telemarketing calls.

This number has called all three of our cell numbers and now our home number. I let the answer machine answer the call to our home and they said, "I have been hired by the state of NC on a legal matter in regard to Mr. ------------."
I want these calls to stop so I picked up the phone and advised he had the wrong number and then he started to ask me several times if this was the -----------residence and then when I said no he asked if it was a different name another name.
IF it was an actual "legal matter" why was he asking about all the other names????? I am so tired of these calls, we are actually getting calls from two or three other numbers from Oregon and Washington.

I have received more than 150 (I have them documented) calls from these criminals. I have filed more that 50 complaints with the FTC however due to the fact that they hide behind spoofed numbers I doubt that they will ever stop any of them. They ask for up front fees and charge your credit card without performing any services.
I find that I am getting great enjoyment by pressing 1 and talking to one of their "reps". I have a phony name, credit card number, and security code that I use. The only legitimate number that I give them is the customer service number from a credit card that I no longer use since the card raised my rates.
I try to ask the criminals as many questions as possibe to keep them on the phone as long as I can. The scammers seem to get upset once they finally figure out that THEY are getting scammed. I guess they think their time is more valuable than mine.
The guys behind this scam have a slew of corporations, many of them defunct. I searched using the name ?American Debt Negotiators? and found the name of the Registered Representative was a guy named RAN BARNEA, aca RAN DAVID BARNEA, aca DAVID R BARNEA. One of many calls just leaving a recorded message. I'm on the Do Not Call List which is a law passed by Congress but obviously ignored by this company. Also, my name is unlisted and unpublished for which I pay an extra fee, but apparently businesses get around this. This call was left on my cell phone and I wonder how they got my phone number. I'd really like to see these calls ended. Also reported unwanted calls from an Ohio Business AC 380-529-6981. Any assistance you can provide to stop these calls to my phone will be welcome. Mary Glen

"Nuisance phone calls not originating in Tillamook County
Police here have been fielding complaints from all over the United States about harassing calls from a telemarketer with a 503 area code phone number.
Tillamook Police Chief Terry Wright said complaints have been coming for about three months.
Even though the calls have been traced to a 503 number, Wright said, they are not originating in Tillamook County or anywhere else in Oregon.
The number - (503) 457-1034 - is registered to Pacific Telecom Communications Group Inc., a telemarketing company in Los Angeles, according to the website for the Oregon Public Utility Commission.
According to another website, Scaminformer.com, Pacific Telecom Communications Group provides telephone services for "two layers of hidden companies that refuse to abide by federal regulations regarding telemarketing."
A number of complaints posted online about calls from that number say recipients are asked questions of a medical nature. A Google search of the phone number turned up an online pharmacy that does not give its location or phone number and can only be contacted by sending an email through the website.
Scaminformer.com said similar complaints have been lodged with authorities in Montana about calls emanating from a phone number with a 406 area code.
According to Wright, no complaints have been received by his department from Tillamook County residents. He added that local law enforcement agencies have no jurisdiction in the matter.
The police chief urged those who have received harassing phone calls from telemarketers to contact the Federal Trade Commission at (877) 382-4357 or online at www.ftc.gov and file a complaint."
Good luck! Only if enough people file informal complaints at http://www.fcc.gov/complaints, is there a chance of putting these scumbags out of business.
Thanks.
P.S. If you get these guys calling from the exchanges listed above, please cut and paste this information to the comments on those numbers. With them having thousands of numbers, this is going to take a community effort to get the FTC off their duff!

Sara on a robo call for political survey in these election times, you get a free cruise as a reward.
Received this call on the 26th in the evening even though we are not on the DNC. These low life scumbags are fully aware robo calls are prohibited as well as the fact they cannot legitimately call numbers on the DNC list, and use the survey as a means to avoid this. The so-called "reward" of a cruise not only is likely a means to obtain your credit card information, but is also a hard sell time share. DO NOT FALL FOR THE RUSE.
Make a complaint on the federal do not call list -- https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2
Here is what the Washington Attorney General has to say about these scumbags --
http://www.atg.wa.gov/BlogPost.aspx?id=29592
Consumer alert: Don?t be carried away by ?the Love Boat scam?
CruiseA member of our staff recently received an unsolicited ?ROBO? call presented as a political poll. But the political poll was a head-fake. Instead, she was ?given the opportunity? for a two-day cruise to the Grand Bahamas. All she had to do was pay a government port tax of just $59 per person. And when she asked for written information about the cruise, she was told that the company had none to send out, she had to sign up immediately and provide her credit card information to the caller.
coupleHowever, this shipwreck of a scam reached the wrong person: Assistant Attorney General Regina Cullen. Regina works in our Labor and Industries Division and in past years led many of our high profile consumer protection cases. Regina immediately thought the pitch sounded suspiciously like a case our office had against National Travel Services and Robin Leach, stretching back to 1999:
Washington Attorney General Christine Gregoire and six other states filed suit today against two Florida travel companies, their owners, and ?lifestyles of the rich and famous? pitchman Robin Leach, alleging they mislead unsuspecting consumers into believing they had won or were entitled to the vacation of their dreams.
The suit alleges the defendants used Leach's ?celebrity endorsement? to convince consumers they had won or were entitled to a luxury Florida vacation and cruise to the Bahamas. Consumers soon found they had won nothing except an opportunity to pay as much as $1,000 for a seven-day Florida vacation and a bonus Bahamas' cruise which was actually a one-day ferry ride and a game of ?Las Vegas style? bingo.
Washington consumers received travel certificates featuring Leach's picture and the message: ?Robin Leach says Pack Your Bags!? As a condition of the trip, the certificates failed to disclose that consumers would be required to attend lengthy timeshare presentations.
?A ?free? cruise, which isn?t really free, will send you sailing on a sea of frustration,? said Washington State Attorney General?s Office Consumer Protection Chief Doug Walsh. ?Add the patent illegality of commercial robo-calling and misrepresentations that it?s a political poll, and you know you won?t be joining Gopher or Capt. Stubing on the Love Boat. But you might be sailing on the Titanic Scam-Liner to financial doom.?
Not a bad turn of phrase?especially for an attorney. But I digress.
Why did the cruise line pitch mask itself as a political poll? After all, it?s not as if everyday consumers sit at home waiting, with bated breath, to be interrupted by such questions.
Walsh reminds that political robo-calls are legal, but the same tactics from businesses are not. That being said, it wasn?t really a political poll. That means it?s still illegal. Remember that I called this scam a shipwreck? Scammers, while sometimes clever, aren?t always the brightest bulbs.
The moral of the story is simple. Don?t respond to commercial robo-calls?period.
You can protect yourself from these kinds of scams by following a few simple rules:
Always ask for written information.
Never give out credit card numbers or other personal or financial information unless you personally know exactly who you are connected with.
Ask yourself, "Is everything legal here?" Beware if the caller is breaking any law, no matter how trivial it may seem (such as calling before 8:00 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m.). He or she may be breaking other laws as well.
If you are uncomfortable or annoyed by a caller, ask to be put on the "do not call" list. Once you request this, the company can?t call you again.

Political calls are a loophole in the FCC rules. These scumbags know it too. How do they get your numbers? They have a computer blanket all the possible numbers in your area - listed or not you will get hit eventually, including cell phones. Don't ever answer the phone for numbers you don't know, and you'll never be bothered.
I have a voip service that allows me to route calls. I just routed all future calls from this number to a home improvement company that won't leave me alone after I bought windows from them. They can piss each other off all they want and my phone won't ring :P
If you want a similar service, google "incoming call routing." I don't want to shill for the service I use, so you can do your own research if you are interested.
