Similar to the above post, this reeked of credit card fraud.  I waited a few moments until a computer voice came on, stating that I have a chance to lower my interest rate on a credit card.  What bank this was from, who knows, as it was never stated.  When I hit one to speak to a representative, a lady with a thick Indian accent came on.  She made her speech about reducing my Visa interest to six percent.  I asked her what card this was for, and she repeated "Visa."  I asked her what bank, and she stumbled, but being that this was the first scam call that I had ever gotten, I asked if it was my First Bank card........... which is a debt, not a credit, and I made sure she knew how confused I was by this fact ('cause debits don't have interest).  She said that it was First Bank, yes.  She then mentioned that she can reduce all of my interest on all of my cards....... of which, I have six, of which, are all with very different banks.  This confused me further.  She stated that I have $3.5k in debt.  I'm a student; I assure you, I have much more than that on all of my cards.  I said that I have about eight-thousand, and she didn't pay that much attention.  She asked me for the last four digits of my card, which I did give her.  I kept asking her to confirm what bank she was with because I was becoming very uncomfortable.  She didn't ask for my name or password, as FirstBank always does.  She asked for the expiration date... and I did give her that in confusion.  She then asked for the middle eight digits on my card, and I've worked retail before: I know that the first four digits is your bank, then the next ones are more difficult to obtain.  She already knew that this was with FirstBank on my fault, so giving away the card number after the first four, and she would have my entire card number, which she would have access to if she was from my bank.  I told her that I was uncomfortable with this.  I am also very familiar with bulldog software, which can force your three-digit code on the back of your card.  She already had the last four and my expiration; the tiny three-digit code would be easy-sauce to figure out for your five-year-old if he had the software.  I told her no, I want to call my bank directly to get this offer.  She protested firmly, and I continued to insist that I am very uncomfortable with this, and she became ruder of tone.  I told her that I would call my bank, and if she has a confirmation number, that would be appreciated.  Again, she protested, so I hung up on her, the third time I have ever hung up on anyone in my life, lol.

So, this is almost certainly an attempt to steal your credit card information.  She was not from a bank, she wanted to reduce my interest on a debit card, and the information that she was asking for she would have had (whereas the questions that she was not asking are required by all calls made from the bank that she confirmed that she was from [my mistake to saying what bank I thought it was]).

Be wary!  :D

Just had a call from this number.  The call was broken up so he said he'd call from another number (480-663-9527).  He called with an Indian accent and stated that he was calling because I have a credit card from certain large banks and stated that they wanted to lower my interest rate.  I didn't understand or hear him well so he kept me on the phone as I tried to discern what he was saying.  Stated that he needed me to verify my account number, expiration date, and the numbers on the back.  Knowing that that is all the info they need to make a new card, I tried to ask for information he could supply so that I could verify it was a legitimate call from a card company.  He insisted he understood my apprehension but kept trying to pressing me to verify my account with the information. I began questioning him more and he stated that the offer was for cards with a greater balance of $3000.  I stated that it was way less than that.  He asked me how much.  I asked if he could tell me what the last payment was that I made to the company.  He said he couldn't.  He asked if all the balances on the cards didn't total over $3000 and I said no, not even close.  He stated that he'd call back in 10 minutes after checking with his supervisor to see if there was any way that "they" could lower my balance with less than the $3000 credit.  I immediately contacted my credit card company (before being able to run a search online where I found this scam being noted already) and cancelled my credit card.  My credit card company stated that they automatically lower interest rates, and will never call in order to do so.  These thieves are crafty.  I've received plenty of email scams, but this was a first!

Looked up RL2Services and came across this website.  Totally agree with air horn idea.  Have given it much thought recently myself.  I had a good way of stopping the incoming Faxes from the vacation resort people.  I would get the 800 number to speak to someone and then try to send a Fax to the voice number with it dialing over and over and over again.  This was before internet calling so I hope it cost them a loft of phone charges.

I have call display and never answer these calls from outside your area code, or any 800 numbers - if they are legit they will leave a message - including your bank and credit cards.    It should be law that the name and the number is shown on the call display screen - NEVER pick up an Unknown listing.   Sure it's annoying to hear the ringing, but don't give them the satisfaction ---- funny they NEVER leave a message!

I too receive these calls several times a week at work.  I called the number back so I could hang up in THEIR ear and was given the option as required by the FCC to opt out of these calls from this number.  At least if I do this they have to call me from another number.  Nothing more than a hiccup to them, I am sure.  But, it made me feel better!  I like the previous idea of using a horn but I do not have one and my boss would probably prefer I not startle the entire office.

I get calls from numbers like this on a regular basis. I always use caller ID, so if it's someone I don't know, but they have legitimate business to speak with me about, they'll leave me a message and I'll call them back. What's baffling is that whomever uses these boiler rooms must encounter people like me with nearly every call their computer makes. I don't know anyone who has caller ID that ever picks up on unknown numbers from out-of-state callers. I even have my 84 year old Mother using caller ID now so she isn't bothered by telemarketers anymore. Seems that this is a rather useless business model.

Called my job, recorded message that said "press 1 to update your free Internet listing". Left no option to be "removed" so I didn't say anything and stayed on the line and it disconnected after 10 seconds.

And I agree with all of the above!! :)
I answered it with our usual and of course it was an automated female voice saying to "Press 1 to update our internet listing." It repeated this again and I held on until it hung up and OF COURSE I DID NOT PRESS 1!!

Got call forwarded to my cell from my business phone.  They obviously had the DNC software, and it hung up after one ring when it sensed a forwarded call.  It's about mid-April, and I've NEVER had as many of these scammer telemarketers phoning about "updating" various "free" internet, google, etc., "listings".

This is a criminal scam to get your personal information and possibly your money. They keep changing their called from number so that you do not find reviews like these.
