Just rec'd a phone call on my landline  at 1:45pm from 400-000-0000.  Upon answering the call it seemed that no one was there, but after a brief hesitation there was a man with very broken English asking about my security system.  I told him that I already had a security system and that I was not interested.  He then said that he could send someone out to see if it needed to be upgraded.  I told him in no uncertain terms that my security was taken care of and that I would NOT discuss my system with him.  I live in North Carolina.  BEWARE is how I feel.

"do not call, do not call".  
We pay for a phone that provides harassing calls.....AND 99% of the time do not answer for the aforementioned reason.  .

A jail in Central America that houses people with an East Indian accent? I say it is a boiler room in South Asia, most probably India. If the callers have a spanish accent, I'd say they are from Mexico, Puerto Rico, or Central America. If they are crap service scammers, they have multiple accents and they work together. Desperate freaks they are.

This is probably a prison or a jail in Central America

Got calls from them before and ignored but got 2 in a row today and I hung up on the econds ring - if they call again I will call the police (provincial/RCMP) and report it as a fraud. These are huckseters - report them.

Phone calls from 400-000-0000 has a person speaking very broken English with a strong East Indian dialect tells you that there is malware in your computer and he can fix it.  They just want all your info.  I usually keep them on the line for a while then tell them that we have a lock on the location of their building and that they have two hours to evacuate before it is bombed and there will be no further warning, then I hang up.
Of course they can't report me to any police as the police want to talk to them regarding illegal and criminal activities.

I just got a call from 1-400-000-0000 ,i spoke several times then they spoke one word and then said goodbye WTF !!!!!!!!!!!

Just got this call in St. John's, creepy because I was sure they said my name on the message they left but otherwise couldn't make out anything. Glad I googled it and found this site because I was going crazy wondering who it was! I suspect also it is a pre-paid card that anyone can use so not necessarily coming from the same people or area.

I am in Carbonear Newfoundland and I got this call 3 times this morning, at 7:45, 8:10 and 8:30...needless to say I was annoyed the third time and answered the call, but no one would reply back. If you have your phone service with Eastlink you can block the number by dialing *60. They wont be able to call again with that number.....I do this with telemarketing calls all the time lol

Every morning this number calls...if I answer a computer message says.."goodbye"

I have received a call from this number a number of times - I DO NOT ANSWER numbers I do not recognize or numbers without names.

I just got a call from this number and what they were were some scammers trying to tell me that my computer was having problems.  yeah ok.  They were definitely from another country, ie, India.  Anyway it is a scam dont let them fool you

Got this call this morning in British Columbia. When I answered a woman was on the line. There was chatter in the background. I told her I don't take calls from unknown names and hung up.
Have also had 2 calls from someone with a foreign accent from Windows who said we have a problem with our computer.. Told him to stop calling. we don't take calls from Windows over the phone. He phoned twice. Can hear chatter in the background.

Got a call from this number at 06:18am. Not very happy. I did not answer it and I do not answer any calls that do not have a name or a proper number.

Just got this call here in Labrador.  The caller said she was from "Windows" and asked me if I was the owner of 'the computer'.  I didn't think to ask "which one" since I have access to 7.  I just responded that that 'yes, I own a computer'.  Then she said that everytime I went on 'social media' my computer picked up 'junk' and that it was now 'infected with a virus' and could I please turn it on.  I didn't say that I was surfing the net as she was speaking, I just said 'goodbye' and hung up.

Got this call @ 8:50 this morning... No one there

I'm in BC, Got a call from this number, didnt answer.
What wondering what the heck was this number, after what I just read, I blocked the caller.

This number just called my parents (seniors)house and asked for a whole bunch of personal infomation and offered to intall a free computer fix program.  I had walked in as they were on speaker phone with the man who could barley speak any english.  Because of the lack of ability to speak english they were unable to achieve what they wanted as they phone call was cut off.  (we hung up)

I am reporting this to the RCMP

I just received 2 calls from this number and was doing a search to see what it was.  Kind of weird.  First time I answered, it was hung up.  Secong time, I heard a weird noise and men in the background talking for only about 2 seconds, then it hung up.  I do not think the language was English, but the talking was very faint and unclear.

This type of number is computer generated from free text messages, and could be comming from any where.  I have searched for weeks but have not found the ip address but am getting close,  the number I am looking for is 140000001

the same number started calling on my cel, i live in el salvador... rumor has it the calls are made from jails and stuff

I got a call from this number last week and this morning. I have deducted that it originated from somewhere in El Salvador. I have a very old relative there and she left a message for me on my voicemail. My guess is that it is either prepaid phone or some other means of dialing the US from Central America. I don't think it is advertisement or spoofing or otherwise harmful.

I answered and the woman kept saying buenos noches....i said "don't call this number anymore"

I received that kind of phone call last night and i didnt not pick up on purpose. I dont even want to know who is calling. It is kind of creepy. I wonder how come there is no explanation and no info on this anywhere....even when you google it it will show only forums like this who just express their  feelings with these calls. Usually when there is no info on things like this i believe to think that its govt.

How did you make it stop!? I have the same issue I already changed my phone number... Any ideas?

I have recieved several calls from this number and usually they hang up. Sometimes I hear mens voices in the background also. I tried calling the number back with no success. Very annoying.

This number has been dialing to my cell phone for the past 4 days.  Each time I intended to miss the call, the number redial again until it completes its fourth dial.  Out of all these missed calls, one message was left and it was a very unclear one - cannot hear a single word from the messager.  In addition to the message, there were alot of vague noises in the background.
