5 times in 10 minutes...what the hell!! Stop calling my phone!!

I live in Rhode Island so I answered this call (8:15 pm on Monday/April 8), heard no sound so I hung up within two seconds.



VERY IMPORTANT - Realize that companies - based in the US or not - have to acquire an Employer Identification Number (a tax i.d. number) from the IRS in order to call people based in the US. That's step #1. Otherwise it is impossible to include these businesses under the do not call list.



Also ... they have to subscribe to at least one US area code / phone number. That way Americans can search for that area code online without dialing it back. This is because of the 809 area code scam from a couple of years ago. DO NOT CALL AN UNKNOWN PHONE NUMBER BACK ... if they are based in the Caribbean or Mexico, they may end up charging a huge amount of money to your phone bill.

REPEAT - These companies may not even be in the US but they must get a tax i.d. number and subscribe to a US area code so to you and me, we think it is a phone call from within the US. These are FTC regulations. Favorite area codes come out of Las Vegas and Oregon especially.




NEVER call a toll free number. By law, if the company is paying for the call, they have the right to know who is calling them. When you dial a toll free number, their database logs your phone number and name and this potentially opens the floodgates to your being put on all types of lists.

I've gotten several calls from this number (401)424-4039 trying to sell me medicine and viagra. I tell them I'm not interested and they hung up before I can say take me off your call list

the guy above me is right it's a company called viamax it's a male enhancement drug. i've asked them to take me off their call list over 5 times now and i told them i'm not buying anything. they call me about every other day

Federal and State NO CALL LIST VIOLATER.  Filed complaint 6/14.  Have never done business with this company or any other on line Pharmacy.

This is a Rhode Island number, from Bristol.  
I keep getting calls from them, every few weeks...it's really beginning to bother me.  
I haven't picked up yet, but I'm planning on it the next time they call.

Cell phone and house have been called multiple times.  Tried to call back and nothing.

Got a call @ 7:49 EST trying to sell me male enhancement products. Sounded like they were from India; accent so thick I could barely understand what she was saying.
. Took forever to answer after I picked up.
I have one simple question: With all this modern technology, 4G phones and all manner of web access, etc, WHY can't AT&T include something in cell[phones where we can opt out of any calls other than our phone list OR set up an automated call screening, where junk harassment calls can be screened or at least frustrated?
This is BS.

I called this number several times and got several company's to answer one from Denmark and 2 from India i had to harass them like more then 8 times for them to take me seriously and i kept harassing them multiple times cause i could with a unknown number to see if i could get more info eventually they activated something that made all unknown numbers go on hold. i also told all my Facebook friends to harass them also.

Got a missed call from this number. Called it back several times and there is no connection after the phone rings a few times. I know no one in Rhode island

Do not answer area codes I do not know,  Am on no caller list, but I guess they don't read English either!!!

This number calls me 2 days a week... i'm getting tired of it... They wanted to talk to a guy named paul about "male enhancement" pills... i'm female and i don't know a paul...what's wrong with this picture?!

I just put my cell phone number on the Do Not Call List and I also got a call from this number today. I can't afford to be wasting my minutes on stupid calls from people I don't know.

SOLUTION FOUND!!

Just call the number (401-424-4039), and ask them nicely to please take you off of their call list.  Then if the person is nice they will tell you that you are off the call list.  Then after giving them a few seconds, ask if you are now off of their list - this is important, because otherwise they might not really take you off.  I did this about a week ago, and haven't gotten a call since!  :-)

I hope this works for you!  If it doesn't, just try it again, and maybe you will get someone nicer on the other side of the line.

Called me again today.  I did not answer and have already sent them a text once not to solicit.  I also am on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY!  Reporting them today!

I'm on the do not call registry but they continue to call me on my cell using up my minutes. I'm not a happy camper.

Received a Call from this number today.  Did not answer, as I do not answer most numbers I do not recognize.  They did not leave a message.  Sent them a text telling them DO NOT SOLICIT.  Thanks for the great information here.

A newcomer in Cranston or West Warwick might have the same reaction to hearing random conversations. Add a non-rhotic accent to a weird mix of "Bah-stin English" and "Lawn Guylandese" and you begin to wonder just where state funding of education goes.

There is a telemarketing firm with a Rhody office heavily involved in illegal sales calls, but not for boner pills.
