Has no one found it even slightly suspicious that when you search any of these numbers given out that not 1 single reference to a legit PayPal site comes up? You can't tell me that PayPal is hiding from search engines.

Do all of you have eBay?  You can get #'s from eBay accounts and it's easy to assume the person has paypal.

its paypal i owe them 18 dollars for selling something... they tricked ebay and said they sent me the money some how i didnt send the item and they still charged me to sell that even tho it didnt sell im not answering there calls or even logging on they can go fuk their selfs i dont think the are going to come to my house and ask for that 18 dollars i might just change my number lol

Got a call on my cell phone, they left a recording message telling me to call another number as soon as possible.  Didn't do it.  Who are they?

yep that's the same message i get.  and i don't even have a paypal account.  which is why i just hang up..

the same  things happened to me they call 3 or 4 times a day. I never answer it

I just got this phone call today myself.  Left an automated message about "information regarding my paypal account" and to call this certain number right away.  As a previous person said, this is not how paypal operates.  It is most likely a "phishing" scam trying to get your personal information.  Don't call it back.

I received a call on November 14, 2008 at 1:54pm from 402-938-1984 (Omaha, NE).  I didn't pick up and on my voicemail is an automated message stating:

...please call 866.877.4983.  Again, this is PayPal calling with an urgent message for, [my full name].  We have important information to share related to you PayPal account.  Please call 866.877.4983.  Again, please call 866.877.4983 as soon as possible.  Thank you.

I called the real PayPal via the number on their web site and they said that call was not from them!

I have received two calls so far for this number..and like those others, when I returned the cal the lines were busy...reading the comments lead me to believe that someone has taped into my paypay account infomation.....time to do some deep

i was in a negative balance because of a drip shipper error, and i've been waiting to get the money back - paypal has been of NO help at all in getting the funds back and blames me for the negative balance. they also kept calling me from this number (i only ever answered once, and it was in fact a paypal bot) but they never leave a message. i'm going to try the idea of paying them back one doller at a time til the whole issue is sorted out - funny, they don't care who owes them the money, as long as they get it!

got a call from number 4029381984 and it told me to call paypal @ 866 877 4983 anybody know if it's a scam?

The SAME exact thing happened when I called the law enforcement in Texas (where I shipped my item). I was reading a couple of things on PayPal and there's a spot on there that says something about "sellers protection policy" that if you sent your item to the confirmed address on the confirmed credit card that was used that paypal will cover the costs 100%. I called paypal and they just kind of blew me off because I think they knew I was right. I will not lose this one....I'll keep you posted though.

Mellisa, Sorry to hear that you were entrapped and defrauded for such a large amount. Its really sucks that the entire system works better for the crooks than for honest people. I have contacted Yonkers, NY police department (Forgery & Fraud Unit) since the address where I shipped the item, and where it was signed and received (according to UPS tracking) is in their jurisdiction. Seems like they are blowing me off too. Paypal supposedly has a anti-fraud unit that works with law enforcement....thats a complete hogwash. They stay clear of any investigations cause it costs time and money and they dont want any part of any lawsuits. They even threatened me with collection agencies if I didnt restore my negetive balance. Keep me posted. I am at dipanjan79@gmail.com

Same number called me once last week around 3 in the afternoon. They called again today at 10:02 AM, as soon as I picked up, caller hung up. I tried to call back, five or more times between 10:03 and 10:40 am, but either "lines are busy" or call fails.

Since someone said it registered "Paypal", are there any hypothesis about that? I have had some problems with paypal lately. I sold an item on ebay and accepted payment through paypal (credit card). Unfortunately the buyer provided me with an unconfirmed address and I sent the item (UPS tracking) to him at that address. He comes back and gives me +ve feedback on ebay. After a month, I sign in Paypal to find a negetive balance. This is when I learn that the guy who purchased the item (or whose credit card was used) called his credit card (CC)company and filed that he had never purchased the item. CC contacted paypal and asked for evidence. Paypal apparently sent me two emails to settle this dispute which I never received. Within 10 days they decided in favor of the buyer (purported buyer) and took money out of my account and charged me a $10 fee. I called paypal and tried to solve it but they wouldnt listen to me at all. They are not even interested in finding out about the address which was used in this scam. I am out of $85 dollars and my item. So BEWARE of PAYPAL.

This number started calling me on my cell phone yesterday. I do have a Pay Pal account which, now that I check it, is -$11.00 because of me leaving eBay and them auto billing me for b***s*** fees. So, I went to PayPal's site on my login and paid the $11.00. Do not give your info to these people over the phone! I highly doubt that they are real Pay Pal reps, they seem to just be people who have phished people's Pay Pal info and harass people with accounts in the red. These people are f****ng pathetic! My advice, call the real Pay Pal support number on their website of you have any questions or check your account online for any issues.

Received a phone call today from this number at 2:34 pm. Called back and got the same thing as everyone else. All lines are busy.
On a side note, I've never used Paypal, nor purchase anything online. I'm wondering how they got a hold of my number.

come to think of it, a few months ago I received a notice about a so-called incident that occured on such and such a date..please call this number to find out what to do...so I called from my cell and they verified my cell number...think these may be related?  I never thought about it, just assumed I had a bill to pay that I had forgotten about.  I don't even have the notice anymore.  We should be checking our cell phone bills huh?

for the past 2 weeks I have received phone calls from this number, but I never answer calls on my cell phone unless they are identified.  It is from Omaha, Nebraska and it says it is a residence...apparently cell phone companies need to be alerted to this as does pay pal.

I experienced the same thing! They've called twice and didn't leave a msg. when I called back there was a long silence and then a series of clicks before the line went dead. Next time I called the number was busy.

I RECIEVED THIS NUMBER ON MY CELL PHONE AND WHEN I CALLED BACK I GOT THE SAME MESSAGE LINE BUSY

Received "hang-up" call from this number at 1454 hours (2:54 pm EST), today, August 14, 2008 - I answered and the caller hung up:  "View" call detail lists the call duration as 2 seconds.
