This number called me and left a message saying I had won some sort of sweepstakes. Looks like this scammer is using a different message now, but the same number. (The recording said the caller was Kay Holloway  from the promotional department of KJA.)

I had the 'pleasure' of sitting next to a 'Boiler Room' Manager on a business flight once.  I asked him how on earth he could find people willing to do that job - calling strangers all day long and being turned down 99% of the time...

I was shocked when he replied that it was very easy! - He merely looks for people with a lot of facial piercings, tattoos, etc, - people whose overall grungy appearance was designed to say to others, "F*** You! - I don't give a damn what you think of me!"

He said that these types of people are already expecting that the world hates them, so they love being told that they annoy people because it reinforces their self-image as unworthy of love!  He said the worst thing you can do is scream and swear at them because that just makes their day! - That's actually what inspires them to double down and work harder because that's what they consider 'success'.  I laugh when I read on these scam reporting sites how people 'told off' the caller... not realizing how counter-productive their actions were.

Next time you find yourself talking with a live scammer - try telling them that God loves them and that you're an angel messenger whom they were destined to call to be reminded of God's dear love for them... Then remind them that their parents loved them too and miss them... and ask how long it's been since they've talked with them.  Then please report back here on what happened next...

I monitor the caller ID when my phone rings and if I do not recognize a number, I let my answering machine pick up.  If it's a friend, they'll leave a message.

Exactly! - & What good are gun-control laws if the criminals are just going to ignore the law and obtain guns illegally anyway?  It's the exact same argument.

I do believe that reporting each scam-call to the FCC will cause the FCC to eventually take action when they get enough complaints about a particular number or scammer... but many of these scammers are overseas and beyond the reach of the FCC.
https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov

No one can protect fools from themselves, so we all have to be alert to the rip-off artists and deal with them..  That's the beauty of private enterprise - This 800Notes.com website is a perfect example of the private sector coming up with a solution to expose the scammers and help others avoid getting ripped off through education.

The good news about the Do-Not-Call List is that at least the honest companies are not calling you 12 more times a day hoping to sell you something, but there's little you can do to stop the dishonest ones.

I have been receiving calls from these 'card services' telemarketers for over a year now. I have been blocking each number they have called with (over 35 at this point). And I have been filing complaints with the FTC Do Not Call Registry and the FCC complaint site, to no avail. I do suggest you all do the same, and do not talk to them or call them back.

But to really get some attention, I created a petition on the White House We The People site. Please go there and sign it, we have to get the word out any way we can:

I have asked this place to stop calling and I do not have any credit cards.. They either just hang up or tell me "number removed" and hang up.  I am also on the do not call list for both my landline and cell phone.  If I mention I am on the do not call list they hang up even quicker.. only to call back from a different number.  This has been going on for a number of years now..Weezlemum

Since Citistream has made it so difficult to contact them, this company is the next step up. Contact their communications dept and indicate that you are getting ongoing telemarketing calls from Citistream and, as they have concealed all of their contact information, you would like for the Nebraska Public Service Commission to contact them and get this addressed.

Always remember to be polite and courteous in your call. These people are not the scum who are causing the calls and will be willing to help so long as you are polite.

The Nebraska agency which regulates phone companies is:

This call is being router through the carrier CITISTREAM Communications
Their site is as follows: http://www.citistream.com
They do not have a method to report illegal calls directly, all calls need to be run through the FCC.

They do not list their phone number, and the phone number on the BBB site appears to be incorrect.
http://www.bbb.org/nebraska/business-reviews/ ... ha-ne-300049002

My guess is that this company is of ill repute.
They are also using Domainsbyproxy.com to register their website and prevent people from getting information regarding who they are, where they are, and how to contact them.

Going forward, new route. Report phone to Do Not Call List:
Received on your Wireless Phone:
https://esupport.fcc.gov/ccmsforms/form1088.action?form_type=1088G
Received on your Wireless Phone:
https://esupport.fcc.gov/ccmsforms/form1088.action?form_type=1088B

Track the carrier through http://www.fonefinder.net and report to carrier.

If that doesnt work,
1. Social engineering, contact the carrier, get account info on the spammer.
2. ...
3. Profit!

I have tried for many years to stop these peo-ple from calling me.  I have reported them to all the government agencies that there are.  Nothing works.  So I have started a petition on the white house . gov site asking the government to do it's job.  We need 150 sigs for the petition to show up on the gernerally viewed web site.  and then 100,000 for someone in the government to read it and hopefully do something.  with all our tech. nowadays it would seem to be possible to catch a bunch of scum bag crooks.  this is the link to the site.

Just download "Mr. Number" into your phone and set it to send all out of your calling area's phone calls to voice mail. The APP is free and works great. I installed it on my phone a year ago and not once have I gotten another Rachael or Heather call.

That method has worked wonders for me.The calls from these scammers has dwindled down to near zero. They don't want to have their time taken up without being able to cheat someone. Also if you have a sense of humor, making fools of them can be quite amusing!

If you have the time and the inclination, answer the call and give them fake info.  Let them waste their time with you and maybe they will get the hint.

They continue to call... today, 2 days ago, 5 days ago, January 8th... nonstop!  If I do not answer my cell phone, they never leave a message.  The call is only a recording.  If you push a button to talk to someone, when a real person is on the other end and you tell them not to call you anymore or that you are on the "Do Not Call" registry -- they hang up on you!!!  If you select the prompt to not receive the calls... doesn't matter.  They still call!  No one removes your number from the automated calls.  If you call the number back, no one answers.  I just filed a complaint with the DNC.  I keep wondering when or if anything can be done to stop the calls!

They continue to call even though I asked them to take me off the list months ago. This is also my work phone so it is very irritating. They multiple times a week. They offer to lower your credit card interest rate and asked for the balance of my credit card accounts.

Received a phone call from this number once yesterday and twice today.  I attempted to call them back and heard a recording saying "We're sorry, your call cannot be completed as dialed."  Although I have let this number go to voice mail several times, now it seems like harrassment.  The DNC list obviously isn't observed by these foks.  Grrr!

The usual "lower you credit card rate" scam phone call.  The only difference is this number has now called me 3 times.  Usually, I only get one call from a certain number, before they move on to a new number and then call me from that one.

I called our local police to see what "rights" we had. They had me call the FCC, and basically, there's NO WAY to trace who buys these numbers and who calls from them. :( I sure wish there were b/c I'm tired of getting the calls.

I've been getting calls from lots of different phone numbers regarding the same thing. I'm almost positive that they are private people who got access to a phone number listing and they are trying to scam people to get our credit card information. I don't know if a do not call list applies to private citizens. If you connect to these people you can hear babies crying in the background along with loud TVs. The numbers also change every week.

Received a call from 402-982-0422 and pressed one to speak to a representative.  When the person came on, I asked them to stop calling my number and they hung up on me.  My number is on the do not call registry but it doesn't stop these guys.  I've also complained about receiving calls from them but I think it will just continue.  They have also called my phone from a number with an Arizona area code.  I'm going to see if I can start adding these numbers to a block list from my cell provider.
