I received the call at my workplace which said there was grant money in our area...I didn't listen to the rest. I have no clue how accurate this is, so it should be taken at face value. The name that showed up on our caller ID was Steve Olson. I looked up the number on switchboard.com and it shows an unlisted number, but shows it as a number based out of Omaha Nebraska. I looked up the name Steve Olson in Omaha Nebraska, only to turn up several with that name and several where the number hasn't been published.

Called with some pre-recorded nonsense about grant money the government has to give away, which is absolute bull, because our gov't is trillions in debt right now. I hung up on the robo-call.

Rural Texas--I keep asking them to stop calling but they continue. How can we stop this?

Robocaller for small business grant money
Caller ID: SERVICE ANNOUNC
Brian 2011-06-06 20:47:26 Unknown
Call claims they have grant money available for my business. 1 to speak to someone, 9 to opt-out. I never even "opted in". Telespammers!
Ron 2010-05-29 15:08:57 Unknown
Numerous calls on my cell phone which uses up my minutes. I do not appreciate this intrusion. I am on the DNC list but that seems to be a "feel good" program that does nothing to slow down these tele-marketing calls.

REPEATED calls to my business line with recoreded messages......HOW DARE THEM tie up my business lines for a scam. Unfortunatelyh, the gov do not call list does not apply to business lines.
Mike 2010-03-19 17:27:01 Unknown
Follow-up to above. Calling the number back gets a recorded message about being removed from their list, nothing else. Checked my logs and found out that I requested removal the last two times they called, in January and February. Also, I filed a complaint in February that got me a letter saying basically that the FCC could not do anything because there was no company name provided.
Mike 2010-03-19 17:09:25 Telemarketer
Recorded message about government grants. Listened to entire message, no mention of company name, only press 1 to be connected.
Hal 2010-03-17 16:34:01 Telemarketer
Played a recorded message about money for businesses, clearly a scam. Even if it wasn't I still reported it to the FTC because they cannot call you up and play recordings.
Since I started reporting junk calls like this, the number I get has gone from 1-2 a day to about 1 every 2-3 months, so it really, really helps to report these calls to the FTC. You can report them online, or just call 1-888-382-1222. It only takes a couple of minutes and is worth the time it takes. You will need the number they used to call you, the date, and your number. That's all you need to get them in trouble. :-)
And start telling charities, politicians, and surveys to use the DNC. The reason we are on there is because we do not want to get unwanted calls. It's a waste of their time and ours to call us!

Called the business today. Again, never opted in and on do-not-call registry

I suggest filing a complaint with the FCC!
They will investigate.

This is a scam. There are government grants available. You can get a listing free from the government, that explains what the grants are, and how to qualify for them.
These people will charge a fee, and at best they will send you a list of what is available and how to qualicfy for them.

They called my cell phone. I answered, but got no response. Since I was expecting a call from a similar area code, I called back. Woman's recorded voice thanked me for returning their call, and asked me to press 1 if I did not want to receive further calls with their advertisemants (To my knowledge, I had not received an advertisement from them).

Nothing new, they said all of the above. These people need to be hung upside down by their genitals for a week straight, yes both male and female!
Darlene 2010-02-25 00:43:30 Unknown
Unfortunately, the Do Not Call Registry doesn't support business'. I also have the same problem. I work for a small business (2 employees) and I got on the do not call website and it states business basically don't count. I don't understand how the telemarketers can waste our time. It takes a few minutes of my time each time one of these people call and they call a lot. Most of the time they are all rude and hang up when they don't get the response they want or you get the automated system that takes too much time for me to respond to.
There should be a business do not call registry.

This is a recorded call that showed Steve Olsen in the caller ID window. Part of the recording was left on my voicemail. I am a business and on the DO NOT CALL list.
Message: Get your next project or idea off the ground. For a free confidential consult to see if you business is eligible, press 1. To Opt out Press 9.
I am reporting this number. May not do any good but enough of us doing it has to work at some point.

Was prompted to press 1 if I wanted my small business to get some sort of "financial assistance". It intrigued me, so I pressed to see what would happen.
I was connected to a young lady and told her that while I was on hold, I typed this number into the 800notes database and said there had been complaints regarding the legitimacy of their "company".
She told me that it was just probably one person's opinion and that they were a legitimate company. She further invited me to check them out at the better business bureau website.
It took her several minutes and two times placing me on hold to come up with the company name (which she changed twice)
Ultimately, she decided on "Quid Corp" and then gave me an address of:
9089 S. Pecos Rd. #3600
Henderson, NV 89074
Phone Number: (702) 522-9999
Then went on to "invite" me to visit the facility in a strip mall in suburban Las Vegas.
I told her the bbb site listed the information she provided but that it was non-affiliated. Asked her what they could do for me, she was unsure then settled on financial service for my company. I asked what type of services but she put me on hold again!
When she returned, I was told to take "her" name and number at 702-522-9999 and that anyone there would be able to assist me. Said she had take many other customer calls. I reminded her that she called me but she "assured" me all questions would be answered by calling the number she gave me.
With that, she thanked me FOR CALLING and we hung up.

Voice message said financial opportunity available - money available - not the first time this number has called with this recording - could possibly be a scam . . .

They just called me and said, "Hello this is Home Security Group, how are you today?" Then I hung up.

I just received a call from this number. They said they were looking to advertise in my area. Asked if I was willing to let them install a free security system in my home in exchange for putting a small sign in my yard. I said no. He said Thank you and hung up.

Press 1. Get a live person. Talk to them. Listen to them. Ask questions. Act interested. Never say the word "Yes", though. Take up as much of their time as you possibly can. One wasted call may not make a difference, hundreds and thousands will.
