Getting faxes from this number for months to a cell phone I have not had in years, they end up in my email. Now they are coming in as a hidden number:

The faxes in pdfs are spam and the voice mails also seem to be fax machines. Wouldnt be surprised seeing as my old number is on their domain that bell had sold out the numbers.

Just got a robocall about winning air miles from this number - 603-315-5219.  Tried to call it back from a different phone number and it just has a busy signal.  Reverse phone lookup cannot find it listed.

Very simple they share the procidings with the goverment.

I just got a call from this same number. My number is on the Do Not Call List and still they are calling. It would be nice of the phone company (Telus Mobility) would make these frauds stop! And why is the gov't not respecting my number and blocking them? I did not take the call as I did not reecognize the number and of course, they didn't leave a message. It's time that the phone companies start blocking the numbers that repeatedly get reported for fraud.

I got a call from this number yesterday.  I then did a reverse number lookup online, and found that it is an "available landline" in Youngstown, Alberta. Not sure how it can be unassigned and available if it's calling people...  Definately sounds fishy.  Beware.

This number called me twice in past 3 weeks. Did not leave a voice mail. I called back, recording said "The number you have called is not assigned". Strange.

When I receive a call from a new number I put it in my contacts list under Scum Suckers and assign it NO ring tone so at least after the first call they don't bother me anymore (I have filled all of the numbers in each and am up to Scum Sucker 47 now). Some phone companies will allow you to block a limited amount of numbers, however this is only a whack-a-mole solution but the only one I can offer.

Picked up a call from this number. Only thing on the line was an automated message claiming to be from WestJet, and to dial 1 to redeem a prize.

When I hung up and attempted to call back the number 403-779-2121, there was an automated message (playing in loops) saying that the number is long distance...

I pressed 1 to see if I could request to get my number removed from whatever list they were working on and got the same southern accented fella after I heard a triple tone like someone hit a number key three times. He said his company name was some three letters...NVB or something like it and when asked to repeat his opening speach, left out the company name. Offered 2400 'flight credits' for air miles for a vacation package to Florida and could only guarantee the vacation if the offer was accepted within the phone call. I said I wouldn't be able to book a va-cay without scheduling with my husband and I was hung up on.

403-779-2121. This number called us today around 3:15 pm.  Fortunately, we were not home.  There was a partial message saying to press 1, then it disconnected.  Thanks to everyone for the warning.  Since 403 area code is Calgary, I would have thought it was an acquaintance of our who lives in Calgary.

I am getting from this number very frequently. I don't know who they are. I don't want to communicate with them.

I am on a switchboard and I have been getting these calls all day long and it is annoying because I have a long intro to do to each and every caller because I never know who will be at the other end.  These calls are annoying.  I have had 4 calls since 11:30 a.m. today Sep 19 till now.  I punch one to get to speak to a live person and as soon as I tell them I am a switchboard they hangup.  I am going to report them to Bell Canada and BBB.

Let's see what happens.

There is a couple of ways:  

One, some phone companies sell phone lists to marketers;

Two, if you've ever contributed to a charity which included you giving them your name, address, and phone number. (for example, they collect this information to give you a tax receipt, and so they can call you again next year for another donation.)  Problem is, they in turn sell your information to marketers - their point of view is that selling this info is okay, since they get money for their charity.

Three, and one of the most common, these scam companies have computers that just start dialing numbers in sequence, so if the numbers in your area start with, say, 729-xxxx, they start at 729-0001, then 729-0002, and so on.  The computer detects when someone has picked up, or if voice mail has activated.

These scammers have been calling me, at work, all day!  I've received at least 20 calls!  The automated attendant leaves instructions to press 1.  At first, I was just hanging up, but I eventually pressed 1 and spoke to a live person.  The moment I asked them to stop calling, they hung up!  It's been going on all day!  I'm getting very frustrated!  It's very disruptive to my work environment.  Does anybody know how to stop this?

Just got a call to my cell phone, dead air.

"Air miles reward customers".  Trying to sell me some free trip to Florida.  Tried to say add me to your do not call list and they hung up by the time I got to "do not call".

Get called every day from these scum bags. have not answered but they keep calling. The next time I will do what a previous poster did and that is to keep them on the phone as long as possible.

Thesjokers just called my cell phone.   Only person I knowin Alberta is in the 780 area code, and isn't speaking to me, so I didn't answer.  No message was left.
