This 404-445-2833 was left on a voicemail as the number to call back, however, on my caller ID the number there was
219-293-8814. Beware all a scam, I blocked the 404# a while ago

You can calm down. What this all about is frauds, cheats, scammers & scumbags. They've gotten your info. from somewhere. Now, they're trying to hope you're a fool. They're nothing, treat them as such.
Tell them that you know your rights under the FDCPA & that all your calls at home and work will now be logged & recorded. I recommend that you do both. Know your rights. Google the FDCPA. Record all of your calls, tell them immediately that you're doing so. The recording of calls is complicated. Simply tell them right away that you're doing so, now you're in compliance with all state & federal regulations. If they object to being recorded, hang up. They have something to hide.
Fraudulent and/or bogus debt collectors are easy to deal with. You just have to know how to deal with them.
Be Safe. Be Aware.

Automated message stating this call is regarding a return check from your bank. Please call 404-445-2833. That's it...nothing else in the message. I have never had a return check from my bank, so I know this is absolutely not true. It's just annoying...both my office and phone cell phone rang at the same exact time with the same number above. Scammers!!! Caller ID showed ReedWhite...When I googled the number their website came up, but there isn't much information available only that they are a consumer debt collection agency who is obviously trying to fool you into calling them.

Consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

So sick of these scams. got a bunch of calls last month from them. asked for a letter. they sent a hand typed letter--not legal at all. Didn't verify any debt. Also, how many companies don't have toll free numbers for a return call? Just tired of these people threatening me, my family and harassing my work for a debt I don't owe

Linda Stark 209-275-1207 ext 108 calms to be a prosecutor of Reed, White & Associates who's website has no business logos and very cheat design, having calls from 404-445-2833 for a loan at a check cashing place that has not happened but for a location near where we live. The lady has a deep bass tone Southern dialect and places you on hold to allow some music to play to pretend the call is from a business line. Its the same business lines that one can purchase with extension numbers for less than $60 dollars a month. I am not sure how they got my information but I am reporting them to attorney generals.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

We received a call also which only used initials. Returned the call and no one answered. I'm alerting SS the person they called passed away 5 years ago.

We continue to get calls from this number with a recorded message that the call is in regards to a returned item from our bank. I refuse to call them back in fear that it will "connect" something to my cell phone number.

This call is concerning an returned item to my bank. Not true it is a scam. Lady has southern accent and message sounds pre-recorded. Calls more than once a day.

Automated system said it was about a returned payment by my bank. Nope, not true!

I got the same thing...a pay day loan. had all my information. but could not provide me any PROOF that this loan was actually taken out.
oh my 2014-01-29 02:58:34 Debt Collector
calling about repayment of a pay day loan, which I've never taken out. Has all of my personal information.
Elspeth 2013-07-25 17:43:31 Unknown
Report the calls to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General. If a caller refuses to mail (not email or fax) documentation to you proving you owe a debt to them, you owe nothing to them. Let them know you've reported them and also tell them that you are recording them for multiple violations of the FDCPA. Tell them you're recording them every single time they call you - scammers don't like that. Other than that, let your workplace know that you're being harassed by scammers and perhaps block their numbers.
frustrated 2013-07-25 17:39:39 Unknown
I received the same call and they a lady with an accent left the same message on my cell phone. I get a call from different people all the time and with accents. i am tired of them calling saying i owe them money. what to do?
reporting 2013-06-06 19:14:52 Unknown
A woman with a southern USA accent left a voice mail that said, "This call is in reference to a claim that's being filed against the order for restraint under the act of title 18 of US code and section 1343. To show cause for this restraint you or your attorney need to contact my offices immediately at 877-283-5481."
The search results said the 877-283-5481 number is already a suspected scammer. Searching the results for the title and section of the US code showed that this is a section of the code relating to wire fraud but is also a typical line used by scammers as well who are looking for your credit card number.
The phrase they left on voice mail quoted above is very similar to what others have had left on their cell phones too.
