I don't know what all you people are crying about. I just happened to answer this phone call and now I'm $350.00 richer (over 1 year). All this complaining over a phone call? Maybe you guys should step back and take a good look at your lives. You people really sound like everyone owes you something. Just keep the golden rule alive. I understand the scarcity of jobs and why you would work at a call center, but I dislike ANY cold calling methods. I have been unemployed for over 2 yrs and work from home part time trying to make at least a little money doing freelance web writing. These daily, numerous calls from telemarketers is BS. I use my phone for business so i can't just turn the ringer off.

I don't want Jehovah's banging on my door unannounced and I certainly don't want strangers calling my phone trying to sell me something I don't want.

I keep getting random texts from this number with another number attached 617-871-9415. Does anyone know how to stop it?  I don't want to text back because I'm afraid its a phishing scam.

I get calls from this number, no one talks.

2 million lost call center jobs isn't enough if you're still calling strangers, hon.

To all of the telemarketers out there, why repeatedly call a number 5 or 6 times a day every day and never leave a message? Only a complete idiot would choose a sales technique like that!  Furthermore, after bothering the owners of the phone you harass constantly, do you actually think that if they would finally answer, you will expect them to listen to you, or even more ridiculous buy from you? To the disabled person, you need to quit watching so much TV, especially those useless shows you have mentioned. If you buy into that garbage they spew out you are more mentally challenged than you are physically challenged, there are other jobs that can be preformed with physical limitations just not as easy to land as jobs that should be illegal. There are jobs that are similar, they are customers relations jobs, working for reputable companies. One last thing that telemarketers need to figure out is that if a consumer wants something they will do the inquiring to get it, you cannot assume that anyone needs anything unless they are calling you!

Speaks broken English  and asks you to go to your computer and follow his instructions.   I played along pretending to do what he asked and then told him I was re recording his call and contacting the authorities.  He hung up and called  back yelling profanities & and cursing me.   DON'T  GIVE THEM ANYTHING!!!!!!

I sympathize with you. I used to be a telephone fund-raiser for charity groups, and we got our share of abuse too. Even though we were calling for charity donations to help groups like the ASPCA or UNICEF.

Maybe if they did not want us to go on here and vent then maybe the internet should of never been created in the first place. You know I am right and you will have to pay more taxes on us when more jobs in call centers are eliminated. Pull up the DMA's 2002 study on here that talks about all the problems that will happen when telemarketing is eliminated and how it will damage society. It talks about how businesses will close when people cannot buy much at all. It is already bad now. It is real interesting. You can find it on the FTC's web site or Yahoo it. Isn't 2 million call center jobs lost enough?  Today kids in the 301, the 703, the 603 and the 837 area codes when I asked to speak to their mom or dad or the name on the screen continued to bang the phone down without saying a thing and again showed their bad phone ettiquette. We never treated anyone who called our house like that when and where I grew up in the south. What if I was calling to verify your parents appointment or say that your order is in? Would those kids still bang the phone down.  Probably so. I called someone in the 603 area code and they talked real fast and I asked if it was a business and they just went UGGGGGH real loud and banged the phone down. This happens at least once a day. How hard is it to ask a yes or no question?  Phone ettiquette has sunk to a new low and never will get any better.  Also today a man in the 954 area code in Florida when I asked to speak to "Gary" cussed me out by saing GD list and FU to me over 15 times. Once is enough sir. You are the type that goes and brags to all your firends how rude you were to us and I have been in stores and public places where this has gone on and their people they told this did not give a damn. I do not give a damn "Gary"  if I ever ever ever ever never ever ever never ever ever talk to you again. I am glad I do not have to deal with your crap "Gary". Vent on someone else and not us when all we are trying to do is work and pay our bills. Not all telemarketing firms are bad and not all rip people off nor have I ever been in jail or in an instutition. I do not have beady eyes and look like a criminal either. There are quite a few up here that are disabled as well and have college degrees that have to work and want to work. I have a 4 year degree and tried as well as I could to better myself and it did not work out and know I am not the only one that things did not work out when I have tried for years to better myself. We all have and there and not all people who have jobs are criminals just because they work in a call center.

Ignorance and selfishness is calling strangers for a living, then thinking that ranting about it somehow makes it ok. Shame on you!

I have never been jail and have not had the desire to kill anyone nor have I ever been in an institution at all. Telemarketers in our call center have done all types of jobs. I got a degree in Accounting from NSU in Oklahoma in 1986 and moved to Boston Mass and worked for a bank for 4 years solid and got laid off and moved to Portland at the end of 1991. In 1992 and 2006 was in two severe car wrecks and survived but am disabled physically because of it. To be a sociopath I think you have to have been hospitalized but am not sure. In our 350 seat call center we have at least 10 disabled people in walkers and scooters like me. Then we also have many up here who have college degrees like me and 4 year ones and cannot find any other kind of work and have to work in this type of work and you have to have computer skills to work in one that I went to a computer school for for 1 year and it turned out to be a scam. I practice computer programs every day and so do all the call center workers up here. All telemarketers get told we do not try and I do try and went to college hoping for the best and due to the car accidents it did not happen. We get blamed for all peoples crap just because people are frustrated and are isolated and have no other outlets to go to for their anger. Just like yesterday. I was not rude nor did I raise my voice to a women in Kent Washington that I called at 8:18 in the morning. She tore into me and cussed me out for no reason and said that I should of been able to see through the phone that she was asleep. I get this line all the time. It is nothing but ignorance and selfishness. Also a man in Virginia whos name was Norman I asked to speak to Norman and he calls me a MF and hangs up. I bet sir you went and blabbed this to all your friends and in every public place. Again no one is going to give a damn how rude you were to me. Just like the two kids one in the 708 area code and another one in the 815 area code I asked to speak to their mom or dad and then after that they banged the phone down. I tried to be kind to the lady in Wasington and say I was sorry and she was a witch. Again if you research on the internet you can get the statistics of all the call center jobs that have been eliminated due to NAAFTA and Do Not Call and it is alot. That is more and more welfare and less taxes that will be paid hurting all the states and county municipalities. Within about a few years only 40% will be paying taxes because of all the entry level jobs being eliminated. People have to be able to work to support their families and if we don't society pays for it which means sir you will have to pay for alot of people.

Over the past couple of decades, reforms in mental health treatment have reduced the hospitalization rate for folks with a variety of psychiatric disorders. Many wind in up jails. Unfortunately, a certain proportion of the remainder of this population who aren't incarcerated seek employment in jobs requiring little or no real skills, including various forms of telemarketing. Thus, this population is well-represented in call centers today. This individual, who clearly exhibits severe sociopathic tendencies, ironically makes a very effective argument that reforms in the treatment of the emotionally disordered have not resulted in a net benefit to society at large.

They do indeed walk among us. Unfortunately they also inflict themselves upon us on our phones ... and now, the internet too. Don't provoke them, don't engage them. Hang up, or don't even answer if you don't recognize the number. If all of us followed these simple steps, we wouldn't solve the larger problem, but at least we would keep it off of our phones.

Just so you know taxes are going to double for everyone after the new president gets in and when more call center jobs are eliminated then you will be paying our taxes when we do not work and have no income and you will be paying our housing. our food and all our expenses when we do not work. I hear all the time on the news how taxes will go up to pay the deficit. And This is supposed to be a good thing?  Telemarketing companies allow you to hang up on abusive people like youself. We do not have to take your s***. I love it when people are really rude and abusive. and never say put me on your do not call list. Then just hang up. Thank God for the internet which gives us a chance to vent and talk about you abusive people. You cannot do anything to us. I was just at a fair this past weekend and went up to a cop and told him about telemarketing and working in a call center and all the people who say they are going to report us to the police. The cop just ignored me and walked off.

You were told to stop calling strangers. You don't listen. Get used to the abuse it's only going to get worse until YOU stop being a waste of skin.

I am trying to do a job that I do not want to do in the first place. Because I am female or being from the country you are from you tore into me for No Reason at all making you feel so power hungry and to put me down and make me feel like dirt. I know immediately you went to many public places and told many people and bragged about it. Frankly rude lady no one is going to give a damn to hear your strory. Your words were that you were going to call the police on us for harassment. Two weeks ago as well as the last two years here in my state I went to what is called a National Night Out and talked to the policemen who police and work hard for my city. They laughed at me at both functions and walked away from me when bringing up telemarketing and talked down to me. That is what will happen when you call them you evil lady. They are going to do zip for you. Go to a National Night Out and find out what happens. Telemarketers have to work or have fun paying our taxes when another one million jobs are eliminated in outbound call centers. Already only 48% are paying taxes now in the US if you look it up online. But you are probably too stupid to do that lady in Virginia. You will probably still be yelling and screaming at someone.

keep getting calls. caller leaves no message.  Having my line traced to prosecute for harrasment!

Got a call from this number on my office phone just a few minutes ago.  I didn't answer it, so the caller was automatically redirected to my voice mail box.  They didn't leave a message.  I'm not going to call back because it's a long distance number and I don't want my company to pay LD charges for a call to a telemarketer.

I picked up the phone, but didn't say anything. After several seconds a live person came on and said "Hello?" 3 times over some loud background noise. I didn't say anything and they hung up. I have no idea who this is.

Yesterday I called this person in the 989 area code in Michigan where we call quite a bit and asked for the name of Betty C. The person who answered asked me who was I looking for and I said it again. Lady you preceded to cuss me out one side and down the other all because I asked for the name twice. Why don't you come to our call center and see what it is like to work here and deal with horrible people like you that blame us for everything and ALL your issues and problems. Why don''t you come on down here or up here and ask for a few names of people and see what we have to deal with with these crummy lists.  All I did was ask for the name and try and explain to you our crummy lists from a list company that sends us outdated information. You yelled and screamed and yelled and screamed at me for at least 3-4 minutes and then banged the phone down. Lady the god honest truth for doing this and probably you have bragged to everyone in every public place in your town in Michigan in the 989 area code(They do not give a damn) you are nothing but a MFB. Look it up in the internet if you do not know what this is. All we are trying to do is earn a living and not be on the street. This is a hard job. Next thing you know and I have been hearing about this for years is they will have a list of people that you cannot come up to in a store and sell them anything at all to close all those businesses. Already the DNC list has eliminated over 1 million and a half good call center jobs leaving millions unemployed thru no falt of their own. That is supposed to be a good thing. Or do you want another million more unemployed and more to have to go on welfare for long term that YOU will have to pay for for the rest of your life. Think about what you said you witch but of course most people on the DNC always when we say something say I do not care the first three things out of their mouth. Just like the man from the 509 area code who when I asked for his name Robert decided to cuss me out and said when it was 8:43 in the am according to my watch said it was after 10 pm at his house in Washington state. We can hang up on abusiveness and liars. I tried to tell you that we can call from 8am on and we are not doing anything wrong but sir you proceded to be abusive and I could not get rid of the likes of you fast enough. Have fun treating the whole world like crap because you feel that way.

Called and didn't leave a message

Today while still working at my outbound call center job a lady in the 708 area code starts in on me and starts cussing me out when it was my first call of the day. Also as usual I had 5 different kids in mainly the 214 and the 972 and the 408 and the 702 area codes hang up on me once the name was innunciated. One even asked me who I was and I said the first syllable of my name and they banged the phone down.  I have worked this job since the middle of last year and it always seems to be people in the 630 and the 708 and the 301 and the 410 and the 360 and the 702 area codes that are the worst and the rudest. I have to be nice to you but the DNC says you can talk to me like dirt. You can't and we can hang up on you by pressing one button. Telemarketers do not cause ALL your problems in the world and we get blamed for ALL of them. Since working here I have figured out that when you are nasty to me you also go to other public places and are rude to the entry level help and treat them like dirt. I have been to places of business like stores and restaurants and gas stations and people have came in and acted like jerks and treated the average entry level worker like crap. Just like myself we are only trying to do our job and make a living. For the last 11 years the DNC has made every sales job look bad and trashed the sales industry. The calls are still going to be made and are still being made. Without a job people have to depend on welfare and social service that all you jerks will all have to pay for along with the new health care tax all of us will have to pay for. By being jerks and trashing every sales job and the DNC trashing every sales job then you must want us to all go on welfare. Again we will not put up with it and I won't and we can get rid of you in a second. Call the DNC number and put it in the computer and if you read this site they are doing nothing. Call the police and they will also not care. I know because I have asked them on the street about telemarketing and they laughed at me and took off.

Today it was Jake From State Farm, Wed. it was Scott from State Farm, Last Sat. it was Darlene from State Farm. "I am not calling to sell you anything today but, just let me give you a free comparison quote." So to STATE FARM...I will NEVER go to your company for any insurance needs.  Apparently, you can drop people from coverage but we cannot get you to quit calling our damn phones. Leaves me wanting to vomit that you hire morons to make these telemarketing calls. I hope EVERYONE who gets another one of these calls (all from Atlanta, GA.) to tell State Farm to p****off and if you have them now, quit them. Maybe if enough of us do this, they'll stop.
