Got a call Monday night at 9:51 PM....seriously. It started out as a recorded man's voice, then hangs up. I've tried calling the number back, but I get a busy signal. Caller ID says, "Choice One". I'm on national and local "do not call" lists.

Sorry, "Opinion One" on caller ID

This number says press 1 to be taken off the list and it hangs up before you could do it.

They called my cell phone, left no message. I once got a ton (about 7 calls from 5 different similar numbers) over a period of about 3 hours. I kept calling them back. They acted like they were all different businesses, but the voices and backgrounds and sales pitches were all the same. I kept calling and telling them I wanted no more calls. They kept calling me and I kept calling them. FINALLY one "supervisor" said "What is it you want?" I guess I was taking up a lot of their time. I told her not to call me anymore from any of their numbers or I would persist. I threatened her business by threatening to tie up her "business" lines and actually doing so. I was furious and let out all my anger on her very calmly but without giving in. Those calls stopped so far. This one is new. I figure threatening with physical bodily harm is one way to get the attention of authorities...someone WILL eventually get hurt over these types of calls.

This Company has been calling my landline for months now and today they called my cell phone number. This is unacceptable it is bad enough to be interrupted every time you turn around at home and now you have to put up with it on the go too. I have never given out my cell number to any business only friends and family. We did the do not call thing for the landline, but not the cell phone because we thought it would be out there for anyone to get. So I don?t know how they got my number. I have tried calling the number to ask them to stop calling and the phone is always busy. This is so aggravating; you get this call and it?s a recording so you can?t tell them to quit calling and when you try to call back their line is always busy.

I am beginning to recieve several otu of state phone calls. None of which leave a message. I do not answer any of these numbers for fear that I might be charged for the call. I believe that this number is associated with a survey of some sorts.

I did go to the reverse-look-up section of WhitePages.com, and it said "Clective GA" was the originating number. Looks like there've been some suits against them?

I hav caller ID so I didn't bother answering when this "Opinion One" and number appeared. The first time they hung up after 3 rings, and I was out the second time.

I received a call from this number on a Saturday afternoon, and they did not leave a message. The "Do Not Call" list is about as effective as our illegal immigration laws! They won't work if they are not enforced!

I did some tracing and found the number to be related to this place:
Portfolio Recovery Service
(757) 961-3546 is Unpublished
Type: Land Line
Provider: Cox Telcom, Inc
Location: Norfolk, VA
They use skip trace and other underhanded means to collect on debts and other non-existent debts.

Opinion one call to my cell phone, re: national survey
| pico 2009-04-01 15:07:10 Unknown |
I recieve 2-3 calls per day from this number. it hangs up every time I answer the phone. I believe it could be viewed as harassment. How would I go about getting a restraining order that would cause criminal charges against the company that calls from this number?

A one-ringer. Been getting a few of these lately, every one of them from outside of my timezone. Must be a telebot dialing to confirm real phone numbers. Such a useless waste of life.

Idiots saying they are conducting a nationwide survey, if you wish to participate "please press 1"; didn't hang up, but I did. Sounded very strange, almost like somebody goofing around with nothing better to do.

Fellow sufferers, please take note. The "Do Not Call" lists (national and states) only stop those who play by the rules. The vast majority of the calls you are receiving are generated BY the "Do Not Call" list. The DNC List is a guarantee of a working, populated number. If you thoroughly read the DNCs, you will note there is a place for merchants to go to DOWNLOAD the lists so they can be merged/purged with their existing call lists. For the companies who are mentioned on these threads, the risk of discovery and punishment (if it can be called that) for abuse is minimal. Companies like First National Information Network (818.333.2670)use them with impunity and, if you call or email them to demand removal, will ADD YOUR NUMBER AND/OR EMAIL to their lists.
The respective agencies with the power to levy fines and punishments do so only 1) under duress, 2) when the violation is flagrant, frequent and documented, and 3)if there is something to gained such as appearing to be momentarily "consumer friendly" in the midst of our economic meltdown. The callers are businesses. We are simply targets of opportunity.
The "quick fix" is to answer the phone only when you know the caller. Unidentified numbers go unanswered...always. There are lots of other means of communication for family and friends who choose to mask their identity.

Same lame taped msg as 435-294-1290 - press 1 for the Opinion One Survey.
The 435 number claims to be from Logan UT - this one from Georgia - they do get around! Too bad all that money spent on the "Do Not Call" list is so wasted.
