If you really want these calls to stop, pay for apps and services that filter these things. A law will only stop the ones in the US. Technology is the solution, not more laws.

Me too. It doesn't matter if you're on a list. Crooks can dial any # they want. How can they be caught?

Just got a call from this number.  I didn't answer because I didn't know the number.  No message was left.  I went directly to looking up the number online and here I am!  My number is also on the do not call list but what good is it if I still get dumb calls like this!?!?

Just received a call from this number on my cell phone. I did not answer because I did not recognize the number & I immediately checked to see what it was.

I just got a call to this number on my prepaid cell phone.  I didn't answer it, since answering it counts as using the phone for the day, which deducts $2 from my available balance.  I have never given this number to anyone except my husband, mother and sister, none of whom have given it to anyone.  They must be using a dialing program.

I think these kinds of calls are just scammers/identity thieves that use an automated system to call any possible numbers.  I highly doubt they got it from a specific person or business.

I got a call to my cell phone from this number at 9:18 AM (Pacific Time) and let it go to voicemail.  The voicemail left was just 3 seconds of silence.  At 2:54 PM, they called again, so I answered it and it was a recording offering to reduce the interest rate on my credit card account (of which I have none) and it said press 1 to speak to a representative.  I pressed 1, waited on hold for a minute or two and then got a guy speaking very quickly asking if I wanted to hear more about their offer.  I cut in and told him that it was the second time they've called me today and I don't want to hear from them again.  He hung up before I even finished the sentence.  I've been on the do not call registry for a long time so I submitted a complaint on donotcall.gov.

If we really want these calls to stop, the answer is really simple.  Contact your congressmen about changing the law.  Currently the FCC and FTC can fine these companies but the problem is, the owners and operators are protected as the company is an LLC.  So the company gets the fines and the fact is, when they get caught, they will just shut the company down and thus the FCC and FTC don?t see a dime and even if they do, it won?t be much anyway.  The owners and operators have already made their money and will just start a new company tomorrow and continue to make money.  Until the law is changed, this cycle will just repeat itself.  What needs to be done is that the law needs to be changed to make what they do from a civil infraction to a criminal.  This way the owners and operators of these companies cannot just close the doors and walk away, they will be on the hook for the fines and they will also serve time in jail.  This would be the biggest threat to them; their financials and their liberty is at risk for running a telemarketing company like they do.  The issue still comes to finding them, but when they are caught, it is not just a slap on the wrist.  The owners, operators and employees all need to be brought to justice for their crimes.  So ask your representatives to change the law and make illegal telemarketing truly illegal and punishable by fines and prison time.

Am already on a do not call list for both home phone and cell phone.  Why do I continue to get these calls on my cell phone?

These days, I tend to google the number if it's someone I don't recognize on my cell phone.  9 times out of 10 it's something fraudulent like the comments here.

Just got a call from this number @ 4:11 pm on 4/2/13.  I am in Ohio.  I rejected the call so I'm not sure who it was or what they wanted.  I assume a telemarketer since they did not leave a voicemail and the fact that I don't know anyone in Montana.

Got a call from this number around 345 while I was at home. It was about lowering my interest rate on a credit card. As it was I don't not own any personal credit cards so I prompted to speak with a customer service member. At first no one said anything so i said "hello?" then eomeone replyed. When I stateside did not have any credit cards I was immediately hung up on. I tried calling back but was told the number was invalid.

probably the low life fukrs porfolio recovery. i changed my number the other day. they are nothing but lowlifes and stalkers. they can bypass call filters. ive had alot of cal block apps and tjey bypass them all the time. i think when they call again ill cal an attorney. i have before.

Same crap as others have stated. Nobody on the line when I answered...then when I called back, I get the "this is not a working number " recording

Im sure there are many companies that scam... and one company just sells their "list" to another and another... so its best not to mess with them or press anything to validate that your number exists. If you do this, as satisfying as it may be ( :-P ), the calls will probably get worse.

I just moved to a new area and use my phone for business purposes... I have to answer it. I don't know half of the numbers that call me anymore. I just hang up if no one responds within a few seconds or if a recording begins. Its obnoxious, but its better than losing clients ;) . The only thing I have changed recently is opening a credit card with Chase Bank... but they "promise" that they don't sell your information. Who knows. Its probably best to just block the numbers or, if you must, answer them and hang up without "pressing" anything. That just confirms the validity of the number. Also, I never respond to texts that I don't recognize. I have been receiving those a lot lately as well.

I received a call from this number. Thing is, I said hello 4 times and nobody answered, and my phone was low on minutes. Truly annoying, when you are low on minutes, and trying to save your minutes for emergency calls. Thanks you waste of my time and minutes, like I got time to play games. I s that a service that comes free with the Android ?  I get 5 free blocks with my service,but I just hace a regular phone no bells & whistles as I don't have any need of them.

I buy an extra 20 block fro Verizon and delete and add as necessary .
