9:40am PDT 5/24/2011 . The following is my "official" complaint to the DNCR:

Received automated message with option to press 1 for live operator. Did, and got "John". Introduced company as "Account Services". Offer was to lower all my credit card interest to 6%, and, as soon as I told him that is what I was holding for he hung up (probably my tone of voice). Have received numerous calls from this jerk outfit and have seen no action by the DNC registry office, I also post on web sites dedicated to these jerks. I also send in my complaints to the DOJ and my senators.

I've been receiving calls from these jackwagons in spite of asking them to stop calling. It's not always the same recording or same number but I have a feeling it's the same people behind it all.

This one doesn't give you a button to press to be removed from the call list so I pretended to be interested and gave them fake information. Then I pretended I didn't have my wallet with me and told them to call me this evening, and gave them a bogus phone number.

I wish I had a list of useless credit card numbers to give them (so they could try to use them and get rejected).

well folks,

you were all smarter than me. they have a bunch of different numbers and kept calling, so i finally answered. they got  me, cause i was in the position to get the help to consolidate. they got me for $895.00.  I called hem back because it was an ongoing thing to find the right  program for me and i told them that i no longer wanted to do it, but it was to late, even though they told me that they were going to refund my money. so any numbers with the area code 406, possibly 401, it is a scam, big time. i am in the process of trying to get things done through the legal system. good luck to you. i wish i had known.

406-480-6581 called me.  I hit 1 and spoke with a Benjamin Loy.  He provided me an address of 1313 Governor Row and a phone number to Bank of America.  He would not provide additional information and eventually hung up after I notified him if he failed to provide information I would call 911 because I was concerned about identitiy theft.

Caller ID said "MONTANA".  They called 5/25/11 at 5:30pm.  They wanted to reduce my credit card interest rate and that I needed to owe more than $5,000 with all my credit cards combined.  I pressed "1" for an operator and when asked if I wanted to reduce my interest rate to 6% I said I wanted to be removed from their calling list.  (I'm on the National Do Not Call List so this is clearly a violation.)  When I dialed the number back, I got a recording for a guy named "Richardo".  So someone took over his line, somehow makes the call look likes it's from his line or he's the master mind behind this scam.  I've reported phone calls like this to the FCC and gotten no where.  The only recourse you have is to hang up.  I wish there were something I could do.

After a few rings, I answered it and there was no one on the other end. Thankfully my phone has the ability to assign ring tones. When I get calls like this, I assign it "No Ring" and label it "A***oles".

I hate getting calls from these jerks. This one doesn't let you press 2 to opt out, and repeated live requests to end the calls haven't worked. I've started pretending to be interested and wasting their time. When it comes time to give them my credit card information I always have an excuse and give them a phony phone number to call me at home (some kind of joke phone number like a dialup modem or rejection line. I figure eventually they'll quit calling if I keep wasting their time.

Got another "final courtesy call" yesterday following the non-existent "numerous contacts by mail", and have now filed an official complaint with the FCC against this number for violating my listing on the "Do Not Call Registry."
Here's the link to file a government complaint about these pre-recorded calls.

Got the same call on 5-24-2011 at 4:34pm (EST).  Started as the automated message.  It stated it was in reference to either "your Master Card or Visa credit cards" and that they wanted to make sure that we had received the lower interest rate.  They had sent "numerous letters" in the mail and this was their "final notice".  They make it sound like you?re in "trouble" and that your account(s) are going to be closed.  I listened to the whole thing and pressed "1" to be transferred to a "friendly representative".  Our household is registered on the National Do Not Call List too, so I simply wanted to know who this call was in reference to: my husband or me.  I knew it wasn't me because I used to have a Master Card but closed the account.  I only have a Discover card.  My husband has a Visa credit card, so I wanted to see if they were calling about him (he recently opted out of all mailings such as these)...details at end. The "friendly" representative told me that he couldn't give out any information unless I was the cardholder.  I asked if I could check what it was for by giving the last 4 digits of the account on the phone (I would never have done that...just wanted to see what he would say)...of course he said "no" and that to give me further information he would have to pull up a credit history.  I said "Absolutely not!" because we protect our credit scores since they are in the high 700's and we know any "investigation" or ?activity? looking into our credit history results in "pings" on our credit, lowering the scores ever so slightly.  Even closing an account will lower it a few points, and I?ve heard you should only close one account per year to prevent this from happening. We have credit cards such as Discover/Visa/MC for emergencies only and we use our debit/bank checking cards to pay 95% of our costs such as bills online, food, gas, etc.  We have NO department store credit cards at all such as Macy?s, Old Navy, etc.  They are ridiculous in APR?s and are not even worth opening up to ?save 10% on your total purchase today? because once again, just looking to see if you qualify, your credit scores will be lowered!  I was continuing to talk after saying "No Way!" when I got the "busy signal" realizing that he had hung up on me!  What a jerk! Yes, a very ?friendly? representative, huh?!  Found out this company is located in MT and that's where the previous owners of our house moved to, so it could have been meant for them if they used an address instead of our names to obtain our phone number.  Anyway, if you want to opt out of receiving any promotional offers in the mail (we shred them) based on your credit history, you can call a phone number or complete it online.  You can opt out for 5 years or indefinitely and it will NOT affect your credit history AT ALL.  If you call from your home phone, it will say your name and verify that is who you are calling about. My husband did it and it was a piece of cake.  I recently completed mine as well by calling.  They will send you a card in the mail about 5 days later and you must sign it and mail it back to them to be removed indefinitely, otherwise they will just remove you for the 5 years.  You can always call the number and choose to opt back in at any time.  When calling, they ask if the phone number you?re calling from is from the address which is listed in their data base.  They say it to you and you press ?1? or ?2?, or say ?yes/no? to the questions.  For example, when they asked is this for: (my husband?s name), I said ?No?, and then was prompted to say and spell my first name.  They will verify that to you, and then ask for your date of birth and they WILL ask for your Social Security Number. The contact information for opting out is: 1-888-5-OPT-OUT or www.optoutprescreen.com I would suggest checking out the website first (like I did) to find more information and to answer any questions.  I did so because I wanted to make sure it was safe and legitimate, even though it was televised on our local Channel 4 news station in the Washington, DC area. You can see or read more on the segment that televised on March 30, 2011 at:  http://www.nbcwashington.com/on-air/as-seen-o ... -118919479.html  Or go to Channel 4?s main page and search for ?Ask Liz?? there are some really good stories that may be helpful or people may be interested in!  Here?s that ?main page? for Ask Liz:   http://www.nbcwashington.com/results/?keywords=ask+liz&x=0&y=0
I?m always careful and double (or triple!) check everything!  Good luck and let's hope we are all not bothered by such calls in the future! >:-(
