I have no debt & a perfect credit history, and these people keep calling me without leaving any message.
Did research on the web, thanks to sites like this one, all their numbers are widely known and published.
They may *think* they can collect something by harassing people so that's my guess of why they keep doing it.
I have no intention of answering their calls ever. I don't have time and inclination for that.
I just keep adding their numbers to my ever growing block list.
I wonder when they will run out of numbers :)

We rather talk to people we can understand and the connection on top of that is frustrating so I refuse to answer to them, plus they are very rude and talk over you, they dont care thats why i dont care either anymore and dont answer at all.

nice trick, not very smart when we dont have to answer your call though...okay.

Whether you are called a debtor or some collector thinks you can flush one out, you have rights and options. Most are simple to exercise if you only learn how. The FTC and the CFPB can start you on your homework. See also if your state laws grant additional or stronger rights.

Though it doesn't apply to debt collectors, I like to use the Telemarketing Sales Rule benchmarks. A sales call is not considered "abandoned" when the dialer "allows the telephone to ring for 15 seconds or four rings before disconnecting an unanswered call". Callers subject to TSR are expected to keep their hit 'n' run duds below 03% of all calls made.

When a debt collector exhibits an excess of call abandonment, I consider that an annoyance, possibly deliberate, and therefore violating FDCPA. Any call reaching you past 21:00 in your time zone is absolutely illegal.

Working here from the assumption that the caller is Intelligent Collections Systems / IC Systems in Saint Paul, and therefore a third party collection agency ....
Federal law sets no numeric limit on collection calls. If you want a number, look at your state law, but I doubt you'll find one. However, a call pattern which is annoying or harassing is illegal. I don't know about you, but I'm annoyed past three calls a day or ten a week ... depends on my mood. I would add that the furious skip tracing is likely illegal if they already heard from you on a valid personal number to begin with.
The irrational lady rep gets annoyed because her commission is riding on your response. Too bad for her.

ughhh. idk how these people got MY cell phone number. my husband has an account with them and they have been calling off the hook! they only let it ring for a second and then they hang up. it is 10pm here and they just called again. isn't there some kind of rule against that?
| Channa 2012-04-20 14:15:59 Debt Collector |
These people call all the time, day or night, 7 days a week. First they blew up my cell phone, which I have NO idea how they got the number because it is not on my account. Then they blew up the home phone and finally the work phone. I thought they could only call so many times in a day. Can they call so many times a day per phone or is it so many times a day...period? Rarely do they leave a message, but when one happens to get recorded, the female on the line is getting angry, wondering why I don't say anything. Do they not realize the difference between when someone live answers the phone versus voicemail?
