Got the exact same call. Kept asking for my credit card information and wouldnt tell me anything about them or who they work for. Obvious credit card scam. They need to be put in jail. Period.

It's a scam..people trying to get credit card information by telling you there's a problem with your magazine subscription. They keep calling every morning and waking me up. I requested to get on their do not call list and the machine said it would take 4-6 weeks for processing!

I also got similar calls asking about magazines, but once they asked me for my credit card number I knew it was a scam because the magazines I recieve never required a credit card because it was free. If you get a call from this number, hang up because it is a scam!

Just got a call from them.  Didn't realize it was a scam, they wanted to know about my magazine subscriptions.  Didn't give them a number, but I did tell them who I bank with and my birthday.  Am I screwed yet?

And just for recording's sake, the guy I talked to said his name was Mark, his birthday was October 6, he was a libra, he said something was 19.16 a month and said he was twenty years old.  Of course probably all lies, but just in case anyone else happens to talk to the guy and recognizes this as his description of himself, do not give him your info.

Just got the call 1/26/10 at noon, asking if I am Elizabeth.  I said yes, then she asked if my magazines are coming in fine. I was like.. what?? i didn't order any magazines.. then she hung up.  I called back to see if I could get more info, but it was a voicemessage from mysubscriptionservices.com.  Which is a big scam company.  This was the first time I got called by them... hope I don't get more =[

I did call them back after I had spoke with them two days ago. The lady asked me my number, I told give me the name of your company first. "Publisher Guide". Rather that is true or not I'm not sure off. I stated I do not want anhthing sent to my house and I would like to taken off the calling list!! She told she would make sure to do it. I did give her my number again, so that it could be taken off the call list.

I hate these calls!!!

I got a phone call from this number asking if I was Caleb. I said yes, and then they asked me about my magaiznes and stuff like that. I kept on going saying no I do not want any subscriptions from them, and when I got to the manager, I asked them why did I transfer to you? They said that it was for subscriptions, I responded no I do not want any subscriptions getting even more mad. They eventually got me ticked off so much that I hanged up on them, and told them not to call me agian.

I had basically the same thing happen to me today.  The man's name was Ron, he asked me about the weather, and he knew my name and address.  I am also a college student and, due to a temporary lapse in judgement, I answered most of the questions on his "survery."  However, when I started asking questions about the "charge" for the magazines (I do recieve some music magazines so I thought it might be about that), Ron's "supervisor" got very quiet and would not answer me directly.  She ended up hanging up.  If this happens to you and they keep calling, I would recommend asking them some questions about their "company."  They probably won't call you again.

I got TWO calls from this number today, both of which were when I was in class(College Student) Like with everyone else, they didn't leave a message. I have been getting calls from many random numbers lately for stupid reasons, like "the warranty on my vehicle has expired and they need my credit card number to verify and re-activate it". I don't even drive! This definitely needs to be brought to someone's attention who is in a position to do something about it.

I just got a call from the number, and I think I know where they are coming from.

First off, I'm a university student and I NEVER sign up for anything other then what is required. If i ever do sign up for something (IE bank account) I send the information to my home address.

Here is my theory, the only time I can think of that I have used my university address is for a university course that I'm signed up with.

Is anyone else here signed up with Aplia? If you are, let us know, If it is indeed aplia then we can nail these suckers for giving out personal information. It may just be the school directory (make sure your information is not displayed, mine was a few minutes ago, not anymore)

If you are on the Do Not Call list, you should contact the Federal Trade Commission and complain (www.FTC.gov or 1-877-382-4357).  If you are not on the Do Not Call list, you can sign up by calling 888 382-1222.  This is clearly a scam, so if you're receiving these calls, you should definitely report them.

Shoot I wasn't thinking and gave them my new address. I should get the number blocked from my cell.  The caller was Stacy from Florida and I didn't stick around long enough to let them get my credit information. Thank God!! I've never ordered any magazines so I knew it was a scam. Was there alot of backround noise for you all too. I couldn't hear what she was saying for the noise. And who calls at almost 10pm Florida time and 9pm my time?

This number ahs been calling my phone for several days in a row, always at about 8:00 PM. I have been at work, as I work nights, so have never answered it, but had no idea who it was and why they kept calling...they have never left a message. Glad I looked this up, as it was driving me crazy wondering who it was! It is ridiculous how many people this "company" has tried to scam!

This number called me and I answered.  They asked if I had been receiving my magazines and even told me my previous address.  They asked me a few more pointless questions, like if I lived in an apt. or home...  This was odd to me until I realized that they didn't know my apt. number, just the apt. buildings address.  The guys name was Ron.. Ron the Don if he was a rapper, and he was from florida.  He was also unable to tell me which magazines I was receiving or what the company name was.  When they asked if I used Visa or Mastercard to pay for my "one time payment", I hung up.

Edit: Just got another call this evening. The caller identified herself as "Meesha." She told me she was calling on behalf of a magazine publisher, and was just checking if I was getting my magazines. I told her I was aware of the scam and that I've submitted a complaint to the FCC. She seemed shocked, and insisted that this was the first time she has called. I told her that neither she nor the company should ever call again, and she hung up. These people need to stop, or I've got half a mind to call the police.

ou're all using the wrong approach. I worked for a telemarketing firm, not cold sale calls, but consumer opinions. The first thing we were told if any of our group was put in a "cold call dept" was to go by the script and never waste time on anyone that isn't buying. They want you off the phone quick so take a few minutes, and bait the caller. Let them think you may actually give out the information they are seeking. Ask questions, and a lot of them. Act as though you are not understanding, and please explain again. Just when they think you're almost commited, ask more questions about their offer or service. Use their own game on them, trust me, they won't want to call you back.

Same story here. I had just woken up and wasn't quite awake. He kept small talking me for like 15 minutes. Just asking me information about myself. I gave vague or different answers for my responses. Eventually his "supervisor" came on. He asked me the information again and i said that i just told the other guy. He just paused and said "where do you bank". I hung up after that, he then called back and i didn't answer. I called the number back and it's just a endless maze of robots, you'll never reach a person. The website that they list is also phony but isn't instantly visible. I want them to call back so i can mess with them.

have received calls from this number at various times of day - have not picked up because i looked the number up online and saw what everyone had to say about it (people asking about magazine subscriptions and then requesting credit card information).  i would like this person to stop calling, and this seems like a scam that needs to be stopped!

Same deal as everyone else. Got a call asking if I have been receiving my magazines. She even knew my name! I was thoroughly confused and asked which magazines. She replied THE magazines (how helpful). I expressed to her that I was still confused and she hung up on me. Thanks for all of the helpful info, guys! Let's hope this scam gets stopped soon!
