Got a text to call this number!!

Got a text saying to call the number.  No further explanation.  Disregarded based on posts here.

If you look up what a Luhn formula is you can generate a (fake) 16 digit number that will fool the scammer nto thinking they have a real number. There is a very small chance the number you make will actually be real if you follow the rules for the first few digits.

Just a new phone from Verizon exactly 1 week ago.  Got a text msg from 2023297@vtext.com to call 4074769843.  I didn't call, thanks for the heads up.  I'm returning the phone and thier service.

I haven't used this phone other than to test the 4G lte coverage in my area as well as the phone (HTC Droid DNA).

I did call the number back, but only get a busy signal.

Me too, same text, why no one can stop them is beyond me.

Same text info stating exact same as printed in all the other postings but I went ahead and called the number and gave them sixteen digits which expires in 2022 and gave them a "pin" so hope they have luck with the info I gave them.  I also sent them a text back with detailed messages on where they could go, how to get there, and some life advice in general.  Now I just hope my "card number" isn't anyone's card but I think the expiration might be a little long for a card but if the pin number actually matches a card out there somewhere, I'm going to buy a lotto ticket tonight because it's more likely that I get attacked by a wild polar bear, in Florida, after being struck by lightening, making love to Kate Upton as a reward for hiking Mt. Everest, and close out the night by having dinner with an honest politician and winning the Nobel Peace Prize for solving world hunger.

Oh yeah, by the way, the number's a scam run by some dirt bags too lazy to find work or even stand on the wearing a sign asking for assistance.  Who falls for this crap....sober I should say lol.

If you received a text message from 4074769843, do NOT respond to it! It is a scam! They are trying to get your credit / debit card information.

got text from this same # and I didn't call back either as I first checked the # and thanks to this board I know its a scam. Ugh! So annoying!

Indeed. If you are a verizon customer, please do as posted. it only took me a minute, and it will help Verizon ensure that no one gets scammed by these crooks.

Just now got this as a text, but without any text message. Just Call the number. No way!

Got a text simply saying "call 14074769843." I always search unknown numbers and glad I did. Scam.

Still at the same tricks. Got a message today. :(

I received the exact same text. Called the #, it is clearly a scam.
