i got the same crap i got a text from my local area code! 2567814094 i downloaded the gimp program but my virus protection caught the viruses and disposed of them! never figured i would get this s*** the first time i put an add on craigs list!

I just received the same message from 706-403-3796!  I am a single mom just trying to make it and posted an ad on craigslist offering household services.  What a world we live in where the innocent are preyed upon!  Thank goodness I had my suspicions and DID NOT download a thing!  I can't afford the cost of repairs!  Sickos!

Just got a text from 573 206 3171 the same thing, started checking it out and this where I ended at. Glad I found this site first.

Rec'd one tonight as well, from a local area code here in New Jersey (732-361-2271). The URL in the text message I got was for img-key.org/?photo=392SRH (notice the dash in the domain, which may be different from the others reported here).

Couldn't view it on my phone for lack of the Gimp plug-in, and fortunately I thought to research a bit before before trying on the computer.

Got the same text message responding to my CL ad for my bike. they used the # 678-208-7151
same link, total scam

They can be from the same area code just had won send me a massage same s***.

I have a pit bike listed on craigslist.  Received a message from a different number but it is the same story as above.  Wanted to buy for her husband.   Sent me a link to gimp.  Wanted me to download.  When I tried to return phone call to sender the number that it came through wouldn't work.  Said it was disconnected.  Answered within the hour.  How could the number be wrong?  Sounds like a scam to me.  Thanks for the info.  So glad I didn't download.

same thing.....call about me wanting to look at a pic of a bike on the http://imgkey.org/?photo=603MBR web address. not extremely late but late enough to be suspicious. opened the sight but knew better to download anything. also, be aware they had used a local area code and that was the only reason i went to the site. number was from 412 208 4580.....if your selling a bike in the pittsburgh area, be aware.

I have the same story as all the rest. I put a wanted ad on craigslist for a certain item and recieved the text, "Will this work for you," with a link to a picture. The link is to imgkey.org. Like an idiot I clicked on the link and when I couldn't view the picture I tried downloading the plugin. What I ended up downloading was a pretty cool photo editing software, along with a bunch of other garbage that I don't want. When I still couldn't view the picture, I tried again on my computer. I have run virus scans and nothing has appeared. I'm not having problems with my computer as of yet. Hopefully this was just someone's clever way of making money off of people who download the software. I called the number and the call won't go through.

Link to imgsend.com, which is a scam website that wants you to download a 'GMP' plugin to view any images.  Protip for craigslist users: Get to know the area codes in your area.  If the # is not local, F 'em.

Yup, Same as Dan said above. Put an ad up on Craigs List and 10 minutes later recieved a text from this number. IGNORE ...  This # should be traced !

I received the same text about my motorcycle for sale but decided to just ask where they were from and no response

My dumbass fell for it.  Did multiple virus scans, and changed all my passwords.

got a message from this number late last night. claiming to be looking for a bike for her husband. includes a link to a site to see pictures of the bike her husband wants. you go to the site and you cant see the pictures because you dont have the proper gimp viewer. there's a link on that site to go to gimphost witch you can download a gimp viewer, that is LOADED WITH TROJAN VIRUSES. Do not follow links. Number traces back to a florida land line. SCAM ignore this number.
