sunshiner1216 2013-10-14 14:19:39 Unknown
I received a voicemail from "First Merit Bank" claiming that my debit MasterCard has been locked, and to press 1 to unlock. I called this number back from a desk phone at work, and proceeded to press 1, and then it asks for your debit card number. It's a scam.

This number said they were calling from Wells Fargo and that my card has been stolen... I hung up.
I don't use Wells Fargo. As to the person who asked if it was with at&t.. nope. I use verizon.
Puerco 2011-08-11 15:38:52 Unknown
Actually they are using those banks. I got a call yesterday saying it was on my Bank of America ATM. Disconnect when you get the call.

I got a call from this number, and just hung up, immediately checking my account...googled the phn #, and found, sure enough...it's a scam! People who scam are lowlife thieves!

I'm wondering the same. I'm also an AT&T customer in Texas and they are calling me around this time. 2:20am tonight. So frustrating not knowing where scammers are able to get my phone number.
HeatherT 2011-08-09 05:00:38 Unknown
I just got a call at midnight and when i tried to call back it said the number was disconnected? A full minute didnt even pass when i tried to call back

Received phone call - recorded message stating that they were calling from Wells Fargo Bank and that my debit card has been put on hold... needed to press 1 to speak with a representative concerning the matter. I do not bank with Wells Fargo and do not have a card with them.
Linda 2011-08-08 18:32:13 Unknown
Received this phone call twice. I do not own a Wells Fargo Credit Card. Just hung up.

Got a call from this number today. It was a message from Wells Fargo saying my debit card had been blocked that that I needed to reactivate it. I don't have an account or debit card with Wells Fargo. When I called the number back, it said it was a scam and that I needed to report it to the FBI.
Lane Facer 2011-08-06 17:00:40 Unknown
the message said That my visa/debit card from wells fargo had been lost... I dont have an account there. Scam for sure
Utah Dave 2011-08-05 22:13:18 Unknown
Received call from them saying account had been deactivated, press 24 to be transferred to security department. Even if I had account with whoever they said they were, I wouldn't talk to them this way.
Phyllis 2011-08-05 18:37:24 Unknown
Just got a recorded message that "We regret to inform you that your debit card has been lost." At that point I hung up, since I know all my cards are accounted for.

We got a call from a 407-992-8767 which reverse lookup says is in Florida, maybe the Orlando area. The recorded voice said our Visa card has been blocked and gave a 800 number I couldn't catch. Then it said I could press 1 to reactivate the card. Seemed phony to me and hung up.

SCAM
billy 2011-08-01 16:23:06 Unknown
received at cell phone call stating my debit card had been compromised and blocked and to enter my acct number. Hung up and called my bank. There had been no security problem and no block. Called the Orange Co. FL sheriffs department to report 407 992 8767.
I dont see any reason why the telephone company cannot be held responsible for illegal activity being conducted with their phone lines.

I received a call from this number at 4:09 am CST. Pain. No message left.
Lucas Nelson 2011-08-01 14:49:33 Unknown
Received a call stating that my Bank Of America Debit Card had been blocked by the security team. Well, I actually do bank with Bank Of America and I actually have had my card(s) blocked in the past due to what the bank called "unusual" spending... I almost fell for this; I actually started to type my card number as requested by the automated system to "VERIFY" my identity before it dawned on me that Bank of America has never contacted me in this manner before...
Be careful when dealing with groups like this... If you call the number back someone has recorded a message citing that it is a scam and you should contact the FBI; however the first thing you want to do is file a complaint with the FTC and your states Attorney General.

I have received repeated phone calls from this number...wondering if a cell phone company's customer number list has been hacked. I have AT&T, wondering if other customers have had this problem?? My husband and I have had calls from this and another number, both calling between midnight and 3am.
Confused 2011-07-30 15:27:57 Unknown
Wow--so we are scamming the scammers. What on earth would the FBI have to do with this? At best it is a matter for the FTC.
angry 2011-07-30 07:22:11 Unknown
Its a scam! Automated recording phishing scam. It tells you that your debit/credit card has been locked. Then asks you to press 1. It proceeds to ask you to enter your credit card number and PIN number.
I wish nothing but death, torture, and eternal damnation on these people.
Dan 2011-07-30 03:22:33 Unknown
Just got a call from this number. They said they were Bank of America and that my debit card had been stolen. Then the automated voice said to press 1 if I wanted to speak with a security operator and reactivate my card. I hung up and called the number back to verify and got a voicemail saying its a scam and to call the FBI.

Called at 1:06 AM. Left no message. Glad I didn't hear the phone or answer it. Who knows what I might have told them after being awakened in the middle of the night.
