If  "Legal Eagle" and "Parelegal" [sic] want their profit from their purchases of receivables, they need to provide documentation.  The onus is on the collection agency to prove to the consumer that he/she has actual debt.  No one should EVER blindly give credit card and other personal information over-the-phone.  Basically, you guys are scum!

Unfortunately being in the collection business is quite hard. Many people simply refuse to pay their bills blaming someoen else for them. Every single day we hear all kind of excuses, i have insurance, the state should pay, OBAMA should pay! These people are quite skilled about avoiding paying off their bills. Before any bill reaches a law office it has gone to a collkection agency before. Unfortunately 90% of  debtors are under the impression that they are no responsable to pay for somethin they got.

SCAM!  They pose as a collection agency/"trying to resolve a legal matter", (often claiming small amounts owed to a hospital you might have been seen at).  Attempt to get you to pay outstanding debt for a "discount" with your credit card or check over the phone!  Hang up!

I suggest you call them back, get the details and work with them. They can provide more detail and info in relation to the debt so that you can confront the company that "placed" you into collections.

Stop claiming Fraud! The issue here is that your 1199 Union or insurance failed to provide payment on your behalf, it is not a discount! It is a settlement offer. It is used to mitigate the amount of time and money being spent on the account (by us) and to offer substantial savings to yourself so that you will be more likely to pay and put the matter to rest. By law our client has the right to pursue the "full amount" owed and again, we work on the belief that what our clients send us is accurate. If you can provide proof that the acct is paid and /or that you are not responsible, our office would be happy to remove the acct from our system and put the matter to rest. Not facing the phone call will not resolve the matter and I advise you to answer, work with the individual calling so that the matter can be cleared up once and for all. Good luck.

Try contacting them and seeing what exactly its in reference to. Some times insurance companies don't remit payments on your behalf and the next thing you know, your in collections, it may be an oversight and/or you may not have realized that your policy had a deductible and or didn't cover full amount.

Validation is required per the FDCPA. As a law firm you should be aware of this requirement. If you are indeed ready to ligate, you should have no problem validating the debt.

And you should be reported to the authorities for theft of service for non-payment of your past due invoices! No different than robbing a store, you robbed my client of monies owed for services rendered!

Debtors who refuse to pay there bills are the root of the problem, not the collection/law firm that tries to make them live up to the agreements made with our clients. You eat dinner, you pay for it right? Same applies for your medical bills!

Absolutely incorrect. We are based in Tarrytown, NY.  (914) area code!  Some collection agencies utilize special programs that can change their outgoing phone # on your caller I.D. Our number is not, nor has ever been a 408 area code. And we do not file suit, that would be something our client would have to choose to do, and it would be considered a small claims action.  Pay your bills, be responsible, and you wouldn't be in this situation to begin with. And remember this, the billing department, the facility, or the doctor you owe money to, whom you have ignored placed you into collections for NON -PAYMENT Get a grip, this is no shocker? You received letters, invoices and bills, you decided to ignore, now you are in collections.

Our client is not the Hospital!  We work on behalf of radiology, emergency room departments that are separate corporations, individual of the hospital, so it is of no shock that you do not have a balnce with the facility.

Then your issue is with the hospital for not providing accurate info and neglecting to inform us. You clearly stated its the hospital and not our offices fault. How can someone threaten a two-year old? That's ridiculous, and for the record that debt falls into the hands or the parent or guardian of the minor, so the debt essentially is yours.

1st off, many letters, invoices and notifications had been sent to you, by both the client that provided service, the collection agency as well as the Law Office. Had you chosen not to ignore these communications, the account may have been within reasonable time limits to process through your insurance. When you received treatment you sign a financial responsibility form that clearly states whether the insurance pays or not, you are accepting responsibility. It is your responsibility to ensure that your insurance company provides that payment and unfortunately if you do not, you are the sole, responsible party and payment is due.

Before claiming Fraud, you should contact the client that the debt was owed to and make sure the debt was indeed payed, and that the monies were remitted appropriately. If you felt this was a fraud did you reverse the charges?

The reason that shows a zero balance is because once you are sent to collections the account is zeroed out and written off. We can provide invoices from the date of service, that show your balance.

I just received a call from this office and thank goodness I did research on their "law firm" I informed them that the bill had been paid and informed them that if they sent me documentation I would handle it accordingly. Claudia (the woman who called me) informed me they had sent many letters and refused to send another one. I told her to loo up the info on their firm and that I was aware that they were committing fraud, she huffed and puffed and I hung up on her. I told her 3 times I had documentation that the bill was paid and she ept telling me to gie them money. Complete fraud.

I too received a call from this office. It sounded as if it was an overseas call center. They said I owed a medical bill from 2 years ago. I asked for a copy of the bill and the guy agreed to send it while still trying to collect. I wouldn"t pay until I got proof. Low and behold I received a copy of the bill within a few days and paid it. I think David Wrightman is part of a place called National Bureau Collection Corp. I found them to be abrupt to the point but not really nasty. It is a tough job to collect money from people that just dont want to pay.

I've been contacted by this company and OH BOY.  The first time, I was informed that this was a legal office, NOT a debt collection agency.  I asked for a bill, so that I could contact my old insurance company and see what happened.  The agent said that it had been too long and they probably wouldn't be able to get that information.  They did, however, send me their own bill on their own "letterhead" which didn't give me any actual information.  After talking to a lawyer friend of mine, I sent them a letter that asked them to send me verification of the debt, aka a bill from the original owner of the debt.  I sent this letter by certified mail, and asked that they also send me the verification by certified mail.  I got the return receipt, and for a month, got no calls.  Now, it's January, and they've started calling.  I've been keeping a log of when they call, and the moment they get past the "This is David Reitman calling to collect a debt," I simply say that they need to send verification of the debt by certified mail, and until then, they need to stop contacting me, and then hang up.  They've gotten pissy with me, and also offered to "make me a deal," but I've yet to see legal proof that I owe them money.

This David Reitman guy has contacted me as well. There is nothing formal whatsoever about the things he send/writes etc. I refuse to even speak to or respond to them until that send something legit. Saying "this is regarding a legal matter" will not be treated seriously. He's connected to some company called COLLECTYOURBILLS.com. These people make me sick.
