There's a lot of misinformation in the messages left here. I think I have at least a partial answer to what is going on.

I recently got a new Android phone and for a while I was receiving a trial to a service that would transcribe any voicemail I received and send it as a text. That trial period has just ended (or is about to end -- I'm not sure which, because I never wanted the service in the first place) and I have been receiving a notice at least once a day on my phone that there is a message awaiting me at 1-408-970-0000. This appears to be a valid number, but I can't tell if it's Sprint or another agency (nobody in the Sprint forums seems to know anything about it). I got a very, very confusing message when I called, asking me to press either 1 or 2 and I'm not sure I pressed the right number to get rid of the annoyance because the instructions went by too fast for me to make sense of them.

The URL in the message (http://v2t.smithmicro.com) strongly suggests that it is Smith Micro, which is based in California. They market an application called Voice to Text (which could be abbrevied v2t), and it is probably the company that is sending the message, hoping you will subscribe or resubscribe to their service.

In a Sprint forum I found a suggestion for Android users: Get into Settings, select Apps, look under All and scroll down until you find Voicemail, click on Clear data, then on OK. This is supposed to put Voicemail back to its original condition (all settings and voice messages will be lost, so you may have to do some resetting, but I had very few and didn't see any point in trying to keep them). I did this only an hour ago, so it's hard to know if it got rid of the messages to call 408-970-0000, but I called my Android phone from a landline and was able to leave a voicemail message without provoking a notice to call 408-970-0000. If things change, I'll make a report.

Not sure what caused this to happen two weeks ago. Reading the forums, some say its a spammer or an app that was recently downloaded on your phone that somehow changed your settings. Either way, a quick easy fix is to call sprint and have them "rebuild" your mailbox. this will reset your settings and reset your voicemail pin if you use one. I hope this helps.

you downloaded an app, said yes to voice mail option and now instead of your voice mail going to your phone it goes to a 3 party (app) that you said yes to.  So, not sprint fault, yours.  My issue is I can't figure how to stop it.

I've been receiving text msg saying I have a voicemail from a android phone with this 408 9700000 number I will not call it back who the hell is doing this and why are they getting away with it my phone had been acting crazy

Received text from above number and I reported all of this to sprint my carrier I did not receive voice msg but it's from an android phone and it also say micro, com this how I found this u never know the war on terrorism I don't worry about silly messages but as I research this it is effecting people sprint told me I was first to report this hmmmm makes me wonder !

Do not call...scam

Did that and Sprint replies, "It is likely that your message came from a short code.  Please return to the original message and reply STOP."  Not going to do that, just going to block 9016 with Root Cal Blocker.

Usually when a man acts like that he has his own skeleton s and using that as a justification on how he can get out marriage cause deep down he feels bad and thinks he's helping u by blowing off marriage and leaving . Also over a weird  # like that there is no trust that's my opnosis of situation .

Forward the message to Sprint and then reply to the smith micro.com text STOP. I voted on The Voice earlier. Then I got that text. I don't know I it is related

I received a message stating that I had a sprint voice message and to call 408-902-0000.  this is not a working number or is busy call back later is what the message I received when I called.

Sprint told me to reply STOP

My husband and I are Sprint customers and we both simultaneously got the same version most everyone got here. Glad I didn't respond or call!  Will be contacting Sprint and blocking this number from our account. Not sure if there is any relation...but noticed in last month's bill we were charges for a few international text messages. Very strange!

I just got the same message! I called and said something about a headset? Will it work if I block on an iphone?

I was sent a text from the 901-6 number that referenced the 408 area code and, thinking it came from a friend with an android phone, I called the number in the text (408-970-0000) and it asked me to verify if I had a handheld device that reviewed voicemail.

Who sent this text and why?

Forward the text to 7726. It will be investigated and blocked by your cell provider.
