Yep, same exact thing. I actually responded because as it happens, I just got a new phone and thought it was someone I might know. After finding this thread, I specifically told them that I was reporting them to FCC, and that any further attempts to contact me would be considered harassment and will be reported to the police. I now have a record of the message and if there are any more problems, they get reported to the police. Tell your kids to use that exact verbiage if you choose to have them reply.

Received the same text.
Called the number and got a message stating this is coming from a textplus.com number. I emailed the company complaint address and CCed the FCC. Sounds like textplus.com needs some way to prevent these abuses.

Got a text message from this number. The first message was "hi kevin haven't heard from you in a while." I replied "who is this." Then they replied "you have to add me on yahoo messenger to know who this is" so yeah its a scam.

Same thing as below. Got a text from 409-331-6455 saying are you there Michael? Haven't heard from you in a while. Phone number is registered in Texas but is probably a no-name throw-away cell phone. It was fishy as I knew of no one in Texas that I would want to contact.

I received the same suspicious text addressing me by name. Quick google search and arrive here. Thanks for posting about it here. Good to know I can ignore the number and whomever it is.

I also got a text from this number, they knew my name so I asked who it was and got a response trying to get me to add a yahoo account as well. Scam!

There is a suspicious text from this number trying to get in touch with my daughter of 11 years old. Telling her to open an account on yahoo and other weird thing. This is not nice. But I will hunt you and find you so you stop bothering little girls....
