I recived this message that my husband was going to be arrested and I talked to the lady and she told me it was a 300dollar loan and he is going to be arrested i had 10 mins to come up with the money and she couldn't tell me when this loan was taken out other then the fact that the put it in my bank account and I told her I knew for fact that I never recived a loan in my bank acct and that I was going to call my attorney and she go ahead my cops will be at ur house tomorrow morining to arrest u so it went from my husband to me being arrested. I told her I wanted the info of who gave me the loan and she said that i don't have time to contact them I was like well ur not getting it I never took the loan, blah blah blah and I called the cops to make sure that this was a scam and that nothing was going on with my info and they assured me that this was a scam and to tell them to come arrest me. I hate that ppl think that we are going to be that stupid to pay them for somthing we know we don't owe this lady had an axcent of a women from India sorry my spelling sucks.

This is a scam. It is kind of like the Nigeria phone scams that happened a few years ago. From my research, these are folks from outside the US using leaked information from payday loan applications. They have called me and several other people from my company stating that people have committed bank fraud.

Please be aware that they are calling from various numbers and more than likely using something like Google Voice to change their numbers frequently. The other numbers they may call from are impossible to list (there are far too many). If they are calling your company, I suggest you do what I've done and contact someone from Corporate Security and/or at the very least your HR person.

Obviously, these folks do not understand the American legal system and are just trying to use scare tactics to get a return call and some money. You cannot be arrested for not paying back debt, but also in order to be charged with "bank fraud" as they are calling it, they must show intent for you to write a bad check. I spoke to this person and he stated that I had accepted money from a "payday loan company run by the government as part of an investigation" and when they tried to "take back the money" there were insufficient funds. I will admit that I have gotten payday loans, but I have records of all the companies being paid back early. Also, even if this were real, it would still be illegal because the gov't setting up shell company to "catch" people in this manner would probably be entrapment.

Anyway, my advice is to ignore the calls, do not call them back b/c you could be charged incredible amounts of money per minute and report them and every number they have used.

Yes I got a message on my job that this person from Nationwide investigation called and said it wa very important for me to call back. Well I called and I could not understand a word he was saying. And he
kept telling me to stop talking and listen. He told me also that I was oing to be arrested. I hav just been told by my doctor that I have CLL and the last thing I needed was this kind of stress.
I finally said I m going to the police and find out what is going on. I hope they see this because that is exactly what I did. I got stressed can you imagine what an elderly person would hve felt like. Shame on these people

I just received a message this morning from an officer of United Investigations.  In the message, he said I needed to attend to this legal matter or I would be arrested. He was very hard to understand.  I called right back and got an idiot on the phone that you cant even understand to begin with.  He stated he was an officer from United Investigations and that i have committed fraud from my bank account.  When I told him I what was this about and that I couldnt even understand a word he was saying, he got upset and raised his voice, telling me that I need to listen to what he has to say and that if I dont take care of this now that I will be arrested at my work or home.  He confirmed all of my info. from my bank acct info, home address, work info ect.  I interrupted him and told him that they couldnt arrest me and he once again got loud and said that he is sending an officer over to arrest me from work or home and then he hung up on me.  This is all over a $300.00 PDL.  This call and message was very vocal and harrassing on their end.  They are full of crap if you ask me.

This is definitely a scam because it's illegal to threaten arrest over civil debt. Debt is handled in civil and not criminal court. The Better Business Bureau has released many alerts on this scam, google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector"  Scams mutate so read all the alerts to get a flavor of what they are. File complaints with the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

Nobody's going to call your house and tell you that if someone in your household doesn't call back immediately that they'll be arrested tomorrow. If someone's going to be arrested, the police come and do it themselves without calling you first and giving you a day's warning to escape.
First hint that you're being scammed. I'd say, call back, say you're your husband, do NOT give any personal information beyond first and last name. See what they've got on you.
