Some guy says he is a private investigator and wanted my address to serve papers but he would not give any info. I gave up and hung up on him and he called back the second time. The caller I.D . shows his area code 412 to be in Tennessee and I am not even in that state. Most of the calls I get are the kind where they won't say anything when the phone is answered. The guy says he wanted my address to serve papers and I hate to say it but he sounded like a black person. He is not a very good investigator or he would know my address. I told him I would turn him in for harrassment if he rang my phone again. It has been about an hour maybe he will stop.

Yeah, I got a call from this number about some credit card I paid off years ago.  It sounds like another scam to me.  The guy said he would be at place in thirty minutes to serve me papers.  They gave me some case number and a phone number to call.  I called the number and it was the same guy on the phone for a second and then another guy.  I have yet to be served with any papers.  They said they had bought the debt from some other company.

Same story different number. 1-866-472-6022. Guy calls my wife at work (She's a school teacher) says his name is Paul Roberts and that his company GDF Financial purchased an old credit card debt and is trying to collect on it. He say's he will take $1200 for a $3000 debt. Must be paid immediately via a credit card or cash. If not, there will be a guy named John Stone who will show up at her school with a summons to appear in court in 30 minutes. Wife tried to get him to talk to me, but he refused. Supposed to call back at 2:30. After reading the entries above, do not plan on calling back.  The number when searched on the WWW shows as a toll free number for a Knights Inn Hotel in Grand Blanc, MI.

GOT THE SAME CALL, WILL BE HERE IN 1 HOUR TO SERVE PAPERS, "LEGAL DOCUMENTS", GAVE ME THE CASE NUMBER AND THE 866-976-1087 NUMBER TO CALL.  TOLD ME HIS NAME WAS "RICHARD LEWIS" YEAH RIGHT.... I ACTUALLY LAUGHED AT HIM WHEN HE TOLD ME THAT!!! DON'T HAVE ANY DEBIT THAT I'M AWARE OF.  I'LL POST IF HE SHOWS.... DOESNT SOUND LIKE HE WILL.

Got the same call as SuperChicken, from Investigator Paul Roberts says he is going to serve me papers at my place of employment, would be here within 30 minutes. He stated the suit was from a company by the name of GDF financial, well he has not shown up yet, it is the next day.

as of Sept 12, 2009 they are using telephone number 1 866 410 3239.  The morons obviously don't do their research---they tried to collect on a debt that a relative of mine ran up ten years ago.  They like to represent themselves as a "private investigator" who works for your local court system and has the power to serve a summons on you---this stuff should be reported to your local prosecutor since they are implying that they are officers of the court.

I got the same call from these "people".  GDF Financial Servcices.  They said that they had purchased the debt from some other firm.  Sounds like a pretty bad idea to me since they were claiming that I owed someone some money and then they bought that crap from someone else.  Idiots.  Anyway, It has been about 3 hours now and I am STILL waiting on this guy with my court papers (that do not exist).  Maybe he got a flat tire or something.  He said he would be here in about 30 minutes.  While I was waiting I pulled my annual free credit reports and printed them out.  Nothing on there about the claims the guy had made.  I did see that CIF Financial Services at 2160 Fletcher Pkwy, El Cajon, CA, 92020 ran an inquiry recently.  I wonder if these are the same people that try to scam me through the mail too.  Oh well, if you get a call from these a***oles don't sweat it because it looks like a scam to me.  I would not even bother writing down their phone number or the case number because it would be a waste of time unless you plan to sue for harrassment or something.

I got a call like this in Sept. from the same number.  Check your credit reports because they are doing hard inquiries and that will cause your credit score to go down.  I was also told that they are GDF Financial but don't think it exists.  The company that pulled my credit is CIF Financial Services coincidentally on the same day that I received the call.  Read up on Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  These scumbags CANNOT legally sue for a debt that is out of Statute of Limitations, usually 4-6 years after it went into default.

Same deal, some A$$hole calls and says he is 30 minutes away from my house and he is serving me papers for a court case and gives me my address and tells me "by law I have a right to know what this is about" and then he gives me a number to call and a case number.  So I don't call the number and 10 minutes later some dirt bag calls and says he just heard from the first caller that I don't know what the court case is about, so he is going to transfer me to someone who can help.  So now the original guy gets on the phone, the one who is supposed to be serving me papers in 15 minutes, and says he is in Culver City (300 miles away) and that they bought a 9 year old account and they are trying to collect, which I have no clue what it is or if it is even real.  Idiots!!  They say they are with GDF Financial, but I cant find anything on the net for GDF...  they are just stupid bill collectors grasping for anything possible.
