I, too, have been getting these calls...for YEARS. I have had them blocked on my phone, but the calls still come in. You folks who have no connection to UMass. It may be that someone who DID go to UMass in the past had your phone number at one time, and that's why you are getting the calls now. Hard to say.

They called me several times but there was a long break and they called again. I didn't answer my cell phone and I never went to UMass and I won't give them any donations. My sister went there but she hasn't lived here in thirteen years so how they got my number is beyond me but I won't answer it.

It would appear that you never graduated... THE PHONE POLICE! LMAO... dumbass

I didn't attend UMASS, my children did. I receive these calls anytime all day, cell phone and home phone too. With nothing on my caller ID and the fact that I have to pay for these calls on my cell phone if I pick up, I'm forced to put my ringer on silence, not to be rude to people having to listen to it. I'm not, nor will ever pick up on this number or any number without a caller ID.

It's from UMass Amherst's alumni association, basically asking for your money lol
Phil 2013-04-07 22:21:09 Unknown
the phone police?
O 2013-04-02 14:00:27 Unknown
I have been called by this number too. I missed it this time, but in the past they have called asking for money. I try to tell them I'm still paying for my education from UMass, but that doesn't stop them from trying for just a little bit.
Margaret Smith 2013-02-18 19:31:53 Unknown
My children went to UMASS Amherst, not me and they don't live with me anymore. Also Please stop sending emails to me at pegasus421@gmail.com.
Thanks!

It was a recording saying " a minute of your time. Are you registered to vote in the United States? Press 1 for yes, Press 2 for no, and Press 3 if you don't know."
I don't think this is a fundraiser, and I don't think UMass is doing this. If it is from UMass, they should identify themselves as such. I bet it's a scam.

send email to the UMass Chancellor and let him know how you feel and tell him to put a stop to it chancellor@umass.edu

I got there call on Wed and I called UMass and told them if they did not stop the calls I would call the FBI and tell them there were making threats to me they won't ever call me again. You also can call Verison and tell them about the calls and they will put a stop to them too
Bill Em 2013-01-09 00:38:12 Unknown
I didn't answer, and the only message recorded was the sound of the caller hanging up.

I used to work for the UMass Annual Fund, so here's some advice:
You must pick up and wait until the caller says that they are calling from UMass Annual Fund. Then you can decline to donate and ask to be put on the "never ever call again" list. The "do not call" list means you just won't be called again for the rest of that year.
If you do not take the 5 minutes to listen to them say they're calling from UMass, you will get calls daily. Believe me, I called the same people day after day even though they hung up on me every time. It's just how the system works.
Also please be pleasant to the callers! They're just students trying to make some extra money while in school! It's the most flexible on campus job and one of the only places that's always hiring. And believe it or not, some alumni are happy to hear from UMass. No one can tell the difference until they make the call.

3x a day I get a call from these people. I never answer the call.
SilentCal 2012-08-16 00:40:52 Unknown
I tried calling back that number, and the message basically apologizes for calling. It would seem that there's a glitch in the system when on-campus landline calls are routed through 413-545-1451 and they're misdirected.

I would like the University of Massachusetts to stop calling my number. I've never attended that school, have no association with it.

I just got a call from this number on my home phone and two minutes later on my cell phone!! I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. I did go to Umass 1982-1987. I have had no contact since then and have never given anyone at Umass my home phone number or my cell phone number here on the west coast. So I have no idea how anyone there even got my phone numbers????? I don't think it's a kid playing a prank because both of my phones rang one right after the other. My guess is it's a telemarketer or a debt collector

I also have been getting calls from this number and have no connection to U/Mass. I have not been answering them. Very annoying.
Dr 2012-03-13 23:50:25 Unknown
True they have cell phones, but their parents still give them one phone to plug in at the dorm, and umass actually has a good sized summer population. However I think the other poster was wrong about offices having different numbers, I believe the offices, dorms, etc all have the same number pop up on caller id.
Dr 2012-03-13 23:46:55 Unknown
They don't usually hire out telemarketers or telemarketing firms. Those are just undergrads calling from their work study job. I understand telemarketing is annoying (I got these calls too) but people shouldn't donate to unassuming because umass called to ask?
ME 2012-02-28 00:12:00 Unknown
Well I get this stupid call and I never went to UMASS nor did anyone in my family and I live in New Hampshire. I hate MASS! which is why I left.

413-545-1451. My wife and I are elderly couple who get 2-3 calls a day from this number. Other complainants report that it is a UMASS Amherest campus call. Is there a legal recourse we can use to stop this crude harassment of the mind and soul? This is definitely the best way they have ruined their cause for soliciting donations from any one.

I get 2-3 anonymous calls a day and I tracked it to this number (1413) 545 1451). They say nothing when I pick up the call. It is getting too much and annoying. I wish there is a way to get them to stop it. For me, they loose their chance and credibility for what they want by disturbing individual peace of mind and soul.

the same thing just happened to me
Erin 2012-02-15 02:47:19 Unknown
I've never even been to UMass and have gotten a call. No message, just the number in the ID window.
boston holly 2012-02-02 15:54:33 Unknown
they call my cell and I get charged if I answer it or if they leave voice mail. I don't answer any calls , ever, if I odn't recognize the number and I won't set up voice mail on this new phone w/new number until these calls cease. My carrier has offered to give me a new phone number if I want. What I want is to tell these callers: if I didn't ask you to call me, then don't.

Got a call while I was busy watching my child - I let it go to our answering machine but caller didn't leave a message. We don't have caller ID but I dialed *69 and found out the caller's number... I jotted it down and checked out this site. Thanks to everyone for the info. Nobody here has attended UMass!

How much do you guys ask for? is there different tiers or levels of donations? Is it a yearly thing or a 1 time thing? Oh ya and where on campus do you live? just curious, any help or information is much appreciated. Thanks Syzzle
