This guy is all over the internet.    Immediatley take the time to file a complaint with both the FCC and the DO NOT CALL registry.    Both have online forms if they do their job and go after him.   Three calls from this idiot----this has to be fraud.

The phone number was listed as 415-534-0208; the caller simply said ERIC THORNTON. The area code is of course the San Francisco Bay Area; can't tell if it spoofed or not.  I have donated to my local police before and they sell/share (without your permission, knowledge or even notification) your name phone etc with other local police departments and national law enforecement agenices like FOP.  I wouldn't give them a dime now, unless they sent a solicitation in the mail.  As well, they hire professional telemarketeer company to make the calls, so I you talk to one, it won't be a police or fire officer, but some poor slob working in a call center hot house somewhere.

Someone from this number calls my home often. I actually believe that my husband gave money to this organization. I will have to speak to him about this. Anyway, I didn't realize this was a scam and they never do leave any messages. Beware!!!

My wife and I are elderly and have an unlisted phone number. We do screen our calls, and don't answer unless we know who it is.  Today is June 21, 2013 and this is the 3rd time we got a call from this number.  So our advice, you cannot get scammed if you don't answer. If you do, ask questions like; what is your address so I can see you in person for what you have to offer, and try to get a name or business name.  Most likely this will stop the calls.  We are also listed on the do not call list.  You need to start making notes if you are on the list and get continuing calls from "anoysters." and "scammers"  This is what I understand about the do not call list; if you receive calls from a number that is soliciting something and you tell them to remove your name/number from their list, and they continue to call, you can sue them for up to a certain amount (I think it's $50 to $150) for each call after you notify them to stop.  Obviously you need specific information about the business to proceed.   Oh, they do not leave a message either. . .

Call from Stinson Beach.  I am very familiar with this town, very expensive and about an hour northwest of San Francisco.  Hard to imagine a telemarketer from here but I guess anything is possible.

To anyone who does not know this-Download Googles Browser @ no cost-Then Download their Google Voice app @ no cost you can still keep any browser you use and I think they have GV for any browser now. They will present you with a batch of available phone #'s to pick from and I think you can even keep your existing #.So pick a # and just follow the prompts to set it up @ no cost. Once you have it give it to your friends and just use it as your new #-you can set it up to forward calls to your cell, blackberry or any device you want as well as use it as your home #, it will let you tag any # as spam and you can tell it to just delete it or send it to the spam folder. your phone will not even ring, no more annoying telemarketers, people who may be harassing you etc. You can also long distance call anywhere in the USA or Canada for FREE, you can also use the "Listen In Feature" if you're online and pick up the call or let it go to Googles Voicemail where it will have been transcribed for you, it will also send the same call to your email as a message which will let you play the message left for you, 3 way calling, basically all the features you are paying your phone carrier for,for nothing ! This is not BS ! Ever since I had to pick a new internet provider AT&T I'm only paying for my U-verse $28 and home phone line is only $10.76 for me due to my low income-and I get all of the above mentioned extras for free via my computer and Google Voice, you can also access GV from your Cell phone to retrieve messages and make calls which I think the calls part is no cost but don't know for sure since I seldom use my cell. I accidently answered because I thought it was someone else.  A very demanding man (name I don't remember) started talking before I could say anything.  I hung up on him.  He was soliciting money for police or firemen.   The FOP web site looks legit but I don't trust any charities  any more.  The Do Not call list does not pertain to charities; they can call your number.  The Do Not Call list doesn't work anyway.  I have been on there for  six years and I still get telemarketing calls.  Reporting these calls does no good; they just put it on a national law enforcement list and no one pays any attention to it.

Got a call about 12:10PDT, didn't leave message.  I don't answer calls with number that I don't know.  Caller ID read STNSN BLNS CA.

Ha ha so funny. That yahoo called me today and somehow we magically got disconnected when i told him my husband is in law inforecment. I told him my husband makes all decisions regarding donations and asked for a call back number so he could call back when he gets home from work. Total scam!

Yep. Received call at 5:48 pm on June 11.  I did not answer but looked up number and here I am.  This happened a few years ago and I answered that call with person asking for donation for police.  The conversation got heated on both sides.  The guy asked if he could send me a request for donation with return envelope, and would I contribute, then he asked if I would put a donation on my credit card.  He got nasty when I said no.  My phone number is listed, but no address.  I am in SF peninsula.

Received the same police pledge drive call, I sure its a scam like all unidentified calls these days.  Was equally rude back and hung up.

Was dumb enough to answer this call thinking it was a call I was waiting for.  Same caller id as other folks: STNSN BLNS CA.  The same police organization spiel too.  I also got the guy with the southern accent,  could be a Northern Appalachian accent.  Told them sorry couldn't afford it.

STNSN BLNS CA claims to be collecting for needy POLICE and their families.  I checked with the police department and they claim they DO NOT make phone calls collecting money for retired police officers.
STNSN BLNS CA should not be allow phone privileges.

Bottom line, I never donate over the phone, no matter who it is. Even if it's a cause I believe in. I just don't like the intrusion of a call.

Also, some worthy organizations will hire fundraising companies that promise some lump sum (say $100,000), then the fundraiser will rake in a ton more than that and keep the balance. I'd rather donate directly to the organization online.

On national and california "do not call list".  I received this call from Stension Beach, ca. on June 4 at 9:49 AM.  They did not answer or leave a message.  Where is our government?  They have all the information they need to act on this.
