I have an apt. set. After getting numerous calls during the work day, I will not be around to meet them.

They call once a week or so. I've asked them to stop and they hang up on me. Filed complaints with FTC and FCC. Called them and told them I had filed the complaints and that calling me is illegal since Im on DNC.

Watch out these guys run a scam. When they showed up I could tell that something just wasn't right. When I asked the guy to show me ID he refused. When I decided I didn't want to have them do the job anymore they tried to pressure me into it. Dont use these guys.

Careful, these people don't seem to be real professionals, probably illegals. They will not show ids and the cards don't match the name of the calling company.

They did show up 11/2 not out of the SF office but out of Santa Clara. The two young guys apologized stating no one answers the 800 number on the weekends. The gave me a card: Rug Steamer, Professional Carpet & Upholstery, (888) 298-7279. Hand wrote another number on back (415) 632-0728. May help others.

I had signed up for an appointment 11/2. Got a reminder voice message with the same 650 632-0728 call back. Tried twice..no reply yet. No identifier on their answering system either so was questioning if I got the number right until I saw all your inputs. Will be interesting when they show up tomorrow and I'm not here.

How do you know it is a scam?

I hade very similar results. Asked many time for them to quit calling. Computer generated calls are illegal for solicitations. I am on the ?do not call? list. Had to pretend to want an appointment They gave the name as Carpet Care. They gave me the phone number 415 632 0728 which is not working and an address of 467 Columbia Street, San Francisco which does not show as a real business address. Their caller id shows private. As soon as I said that I did not want an appointment, but instead wanted to talk about removing my name, the operator hung up an me.

I would suggest noting the date, time and company who calls. Get a specific employee name if possible. Inform them calmly that they are in violation of federal law and that you will exercise your legal right to sue them for $500 per call if they continue to contact you. Also, inform them that you are filing a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, and make sure to follow-up on that. You can file a complaint online:

They have a recording that calls you and if you push "1" it connects you to an operator. They call themselves "Carpet Care" out of SF. I have tried to get through and have them take me off their automatic call list (they call at least once a week). Every time I've asked for their name and where they are located, the operator (Jennifer) hung up on me. I had to pretend to want their services to get their phone number and her name.
