Def TO police. I called in and the lady said her records show I dialed 911. Was a pocket-dial on my part. I called 416-808-2222 to inquire.

My phone does not show any 911 call logs but they are not recorded. I have researched it and this is indeed a police line. This number originated from Toronto. If you dailled it, its probably a butt call

I got a call from this number twice today. Same rush message "This is toronto Police, we received a call from you, is everything okay".......
Later I checked the call log and 911 was not on my outgoing calls either time. I called the number several times, call does not go through...

Then, if the number really belongs to the police service, then something might be wrong with the Blackberry service. I don't have a record shows that I called 911. Something not right, obviously. Check you bill, and see if you got charged for this
doesnt matter 2013-05-15 04:29:09 Unknown
if you people would take better care of ur phone and not pocket dial 911, u would not get a call back to ensure that u are safe ... learn how to use and care for ur phone and STOP tying up the 911 lines for real life emergencies !!!!!

I just got a call to my house phone line from this number, so don't give me any bull about it being butt dials! My wife and I were still in bed, unless our golden retriever figured out how to call 911, something's up here.

Definitely the Toronto Police Services.
I had personally called 911 for personal reason and they followed back 2 hours later with this phone number.
Doug 2012-11-20 22:47:48 Unknown
it happened to me on the home phone line calling back the aforementioned number, and not blackberry it was a number which you call which patches you into the police 911 line- you don't speak to them but they seem to think you called them- which i didn't. Why that benefits anyone i've no idea but i think the likes of Rogers should figure out how someone does that to an emergency line repeatedly.
Not all these people sat on their phone- or had the issue you did, so it's a serious issue which your above posting completely misses. And your message suggests erroneously that it's down to them so you should probably remove it.

This is an outbound line from the Toronto Police 911 Communications Centre. They will call you from this phone # when your phone dials 911 and no one is on the line. Could be an accident from having your phone in your pocket, or from giving your child the phone to play with. Some phones will not show you placed a 911 call in your log if it is activated by your touch screen and not by dialing the numbers yourself. All they are doing is calling you back to make sure there is no real emergency, just let them know you dialed in error.

They called me too saying that I called 911... I checked my history & my phone never called though ...WTF?
Joyce 2012-06-29 18:03:34 Unknown
I got a call from this number as well, saying it's the Toronto Police Dept. and asked me if there is an emergency.
I told them I didn't call 911, and they ask if I had my phone in my pocket. It seems that I forgot to lock my phone and that's the cause of the call, so I apologized to them for any confusion.
I checked my call log afterwards, and realized there is a call for 112. Since it's a (almost) worldwide emergency number, I guess that what got redirected to 911.
Another weird call from this number 2012-05-24 20:48:38 Unknown
I receive a call from this number and the man told me someone has called to 911. I have a daughter so initially I thought she dial. But reviewing my phone she or I never did it.
I have a Blackberry too, so:
1 It is a sort or error from Blackberry,
2 It is a scam
3 I`m going crazy
Realtrut 2012-04-05 03:01:19 Unknown
It actually is they just called me and was questioning me on the phone about an incident

I filed an incident report and this is the number that called notifying me that they had dispatched officers to my house.
It is the service number for the police.

To all those saying it's because the BlackBerry calls automatically, it doesn't seem to be so...
straight from the BlackBerry handbook:
"You can only make emergency calls by typing official emergency access numbers (for example, 911 in North America or 112 in countries that are part of the European Union)."
I tend to get these calls early in the morning when I've been sleeping and my phone isn't being used and has been lying on the table alone all night.
Also, why do I see the exact same post saying "Hope this helps folks" (B.Rad) at the end on multiple websites and posts too? I don't trust those posts.

Got the same call in the middle of the night, now I live 4 hrs away from Toronto, in the 519 area. I checked my call log and I didn't call 911. I'm a little confused (another way of saying 'tech stupid') but if I had made that call wouldn't it go to my local police? I would hate to think that if I was really in trouble a police dispatch 4 hrs away would take the call.

got a call from this number, no message, tried to call back, no answer (just hang up), WTF?

Sounds like the bi*** I talked to at this number, quit your f****ng job!
TO Anon 2011-07-29 13:09:13 Unknown
100% - it is a police line but you can't call it, they call you from it. Didn't know I'd called 9-1-1 until they called me back. This came up on my BB and when I checked my outgoing calls, I must have accidentally dialled. The lady said they get about 1000 accidental 911 in a day!!
Unknown 2011-07-15 23:51:31 Unknown
Got a call today saying I dialed Toronto Police and asking if I was ok.
Derrick 2011-07-06 16:23:27 Unknown
I think the issue with the phone, particularly my blackberry is that it has an emergency call feature that can be activated without unlocking the phone. I noticed after receiving a call from this number that my phone was in "emergency call mode". Even locking the thing isn't enough.
Alana 2011-06-21 11:45:35 Unknown
I called 911 intentionally this morning because I was choking. I lost control of the phone, and this number called me back to see if I needed assistance.
It Is not a scam or surveillance. They are just 911 switchboard people savin' lives. Thank them next time they call.
