Hi...I recieved a call from this phone number today January 16, 2008...they asked for me by first name..I didn't know the number so I said they had the wrong number...I am in St. Catharines

i have no idea who this is pleasse stop callin me you have the wrong number ...continue to call me as much as you do i will takwe it to that police

This number calls several times a week but never leaves a message.

This number calls me everyday! When I pick up, nobody talks. But if I hang up directly, this number will call again at the same day! It's so annoying. I need to complaint to Bell.

did anyone pay for this?? did anyone give out a credit card number???  I think the College of Physicians and Surgeons needs to be contacted, and yes I am in the Newmarket area, and we all know which Doctors we are talking about! Dr C and Dr B.

I saw some other comments elsewhere that said about reminder fees. This is odd, as, my pharmacist that I have had for years now, one of the large retailers, instituted a 'remind' service, and no one contacted us about it starting, but when it did, no one asked for money either. My doc's office has clearly posted, what extra fees will be charged, no mention of any company on its behalf.However, I have heard of others, who one, received papers in the mail, letters, more than one, saying it was from the doc and all and looked like it was, and looked like it was something like 'extra' insurance, like we used to call Blue Cross or so. Then calls came in, it was this year, 2009..three...the first two, unanswered, but we names of women, not NOT a biz, and the 800 for the mentioned company Healthscreen, which seems to be a software computer company to assist in handling med records..not/NOT an extras billing company. The third call was from as described so often in these posts. While the phone display said the Healthscreen SK whatever that means..the person did not./NOT identify themselves as from a company but as, after addressing the patient, as, hi, X,no Mr. or Mrs...but too familiar,..and saying on asking, that she was calling on behalf of the person's doc..well you can imagine some folk, they think, omigod! I just had a test..what IS this???ya know? it is...
I cannot get over that this has been allowed to go on so long...
and years ago..I went to the Privacy forum..on..what? privacy of health info when they first were getting together about computerizing patient's records...!!???. This is not right. I hope it gets remedied..if the provincial gov has the power to do something..they should..before someone has an MI getting the call..from their 'doc's' office.

update...husband went to the Doctor yesterday....he did not receive any letter informing him that our Doctor was using the services of Prev care....so, we have never actually been official informed of this....but I guess ultimately it makes no difference does it?

well my update... I've been to the dr twice now and have not received anymore calls since the initial ones documented here. I have also seen a possible change in office attitude and staff?? for the positive, which is really stretching it with this group!
I am ticked that this happened, but it is compounded by the fact that this dr is a quack. Made the situation more stinky for me... I am an old school nurse and can clearly see that these new doctors are all about making money and absolutely nothing else. They certainly hold us hostage due to the doctor shortage in Ontario.

ive been getin calls from this number on my pay as you go cell phone who are these ppl and why do they keep callin me i dont live in toronto and there basically harassing me every day callign me non stop i dont knwo who these ppl are and if they dotn stop im callin the police

WHAT rules???........They have all of our info and our Doctors gave them the information, so, there are NO rules of confidentiality...apparently these Doctors decide who gets our information (all of our information by the way)....no matter how we, as patients feel about it.

I got the call too. I checked with the Ontario College of Physicians and Surgeons. They say that use of this company and one or two others are standard practice now for billing purposes. They are bound by the same rules of confidentiality as the doctor and his or her staff. The doctors use these companies already for billing, etc. If you're still concerned you can call the college at: 1-800-268-7096.

After weeks of receiving calls from this number sporadically, today this call came in four times. (I'm in Ottawa)
Annoyed, I googled the number & have read all you've written. (I'm  looking forward to the day when I can sit at home, and wait for scam artists & telemarketers to call.)
My doctor is with AIM Health Group. Maybe anyone can relate to that or any other type of company that runs the doctor's office.

Hi annoyed...please let us know what your Doctor has to say about this. I also have no problem with "block fees'...BUT the Doctors in question have in fact traded our info in exchange for this companies offer to rake in as much money for him as possible...even if that includes snooping into our OHIP records...this is what I have a problem with...being "tailed" as it were, by a company that is strictly about profit...this whole issue has nothing to do with patient care...nor free time...nor even about the tiny bit of money that can be had by block fees....it's about the HUGE amount of money that is offered to Doctors through bonuses...have a look at the article link that is in previous posts on here...
I feel like I have been sold...and that now I am being followed by vultures who are waiting to cash in...

follow up... after reading all your posts i am much better informed, thanks! turns out we did receive a letter we thought was from our doctor regarding "extended coverage". there is no indication that a third party is involved. i guess thats how we got o their call list. we never filled out the form.

i am not opposed to the option of "block fees" nor my doctor contracting out services. i am opposed to my personal information being traded without my knowledge. i know my doctor is a hard working and deserves to be compensated but i also know he is ethical and would not want a company calling his patients without permission. i will talk to him this week

my wife has gotten at least two calls from this number recently... they always hang up when she answers. we live in oakville and both go to the same doctor. i have not had any calls from this number myself. this is my first check into tis and i will be looking into it further.

Thanks for the info Dobie...I have as yet, not received anything in the mail from either my Doctor nor from this company regarding signing up for this....I, of course will NOT be signing up...I do as a matter of fact have an idea...I am thinking that if I receive even one more call from either "Prev Care" or anyone else related to this matter, I am going to inform them that if they call my number ever again, I will charge them with harassment...I may also return any mail I get from them (if I get any), with a nasty note and a request that they never contact me again, even if it is on behalf of my Doctor.

We received the papers in the mail yesterday (Fri. 15/08). After going over the papers, I'm definately not going to sign up with this thing.

First, they attempt to speak on behalf of my mom's doctor (ie. dear "", signed "doctor's name" or rather printed).

Second...you can pay $5.25/mo. via credit card or $63.00 for the year via cheque. Ummm, not much options there for a monthly payment if you don't own a credit card!

Just thought I'd share this recent info. with you folks...we are not signing on!

I didn't like that they had my name, number and doctor's name... so I just said "let me call you back when I have a minute." The woman actually gave me her name and extension number (the number she gave was 1-866-534-3627). Then I found this website...

After reading your comments, I decided to block the number, which I do regularly with phone spam, but the Bell service said it couldn't block this particular number for some reason!?

So I decided to call my doc's office. The poor secretary kept repeating "we don't know much about it yet; we'll be finding out more tomorrow because the company's coming to give us a presentation." And no matter what I said, she kept answering "We don't know much about it yet." I guess that's what she was told to say. She did mention that they've been getting a ton of calls. I'm not terribly pleased, I must admit!

I was out shopping in town on Friday Feb,2/08, when a phone call from this company called. My disabled mother (73) took the call, and described it to me the best she could afterwards.

They called her by her first name (no mrs., miss...etc.), stumbled over her dr's name trying to pronounce it, asked many personal medical questions and offered this so called $5/mo. service to remind her of appt's.

I'm not pleased at all, as I'm her caretaker too. I know her doctor well (he used to be my dr.) and I usually am contacted with regards to her appointments. Which it's funny, since the "company" said to my mother that I would be also covered under this so called plan...even though he is not my dr. any longer.

My mother is now scared, fearing that she gave them too much information about herself while I was out (she has had a stroke, so her memory is not too great for details). She also mentioned about them sending her papers to go over.

I got suspicious when she told me all this, and like many of you, googled the number. I'm very happy to have found this forum and that we are not alone in this harassment.

Someone asked on here where we are all located?? We live way outside the Toronto area...try very near Ottawa, ON.!!

Hmm... never realized there'd be such an amt of info on this number... jus got called by this number and got dead air as well... and of course, I've just been to my doctor too...  Next time I'm gonna tell them my cholesterol is up and that I want to order the greasiest pizza available...

I have not gotten any calls recently either, however, I have also not been to my DR either...I wonder if the people who have been receiving an influx of calls have been to see their DR recently..??...possibly...and besides, whether you sign or not...these people still have our info...I was not even told about this whole thing...I only figured it out after I started to get calls from them....so now...what do we do?....complain?..change Drs?...what?....does anyone have any idea?

I actually received from my doctor a paper today about paying a yearly fee for extended coverage for various items and I noticed in the letter the below sentence was included.

Please note that in order to free up as much of my time as possible to see patients, I have enlisted the assistance of "Healthscreen" Solutions to oversee the administration of this program.

I'm not quite sure what they have secretaries for?
