VanAnnoyed 2014-04-05 19:44:54 Unknown
So started getting calls from these people 4 or 5 times a day. Some as early as 6am! Oh right thats 9am toronto time! I did as employee #2 said. The calls to my home number reduced to 2 or 3 a month. The problem is when i called I did it from my cell so they suddenly started calling my cell constantly. I decided to test this by calling from my office to have the cell removed from thier list. As you probably can guess now my office is recieving constant calls from this number. Beware when having your number removed. If you dont call from the actual harrassed number the new one will simply replace the old!

Press *60 if you are a Telus customer. It's per-call blocking that will send a message to the caller that you are no longer accepting calls from the number.

These clowns called on a Sunday. I immediately called them right back three times, no answer. I guess they don't like people bothering them at home on a Sunday.

Received FIVE hang up calls from this number within a one hour period.
Finally had someone speak on the sixth call, and told me that no one had called me from that number today.
My caller ID begs to differ.

if you say you work for such an "organization", then you must be working with and for morons. if at least you've taken the time to read the posts here, they all practically scream "STOP CALLING" or "DO NOT CALL ANYMORE". how can it get any clearer than that. legal or not, you are bothering people plain and simple, so hiding behind legality will not cut it for you. like one of the earlier posts said, if you mind posting here on this thread your home phone number so we can call you (don't worry, we're not going to sell you anything, we'd just like to get your opinion whether your province is giving you enough based on your total tax contributions). so, if you and your "organization" can't get that to your heads, then indeed, you are morons.
Suzy 2012-12-19 23:18:43 Survey
Having just read through all the posts here and also being a "victim" of these calls I would love to point out that none of the "so called professionals" the two from reasearch dimensions and the last one who works for another polling organization, none responded to the repeated statements saying "ONCE THE CALL IS ANSWERED THE CALLER FROM THIS NUMBER HANGS UP!!!!!!"
How can we ask to be removed if we don't even get the chance to speak to someone? Personally I cannot call the long distance number as I have long distance blocked on my phone...for personal reasons. So tell me how can I make these calls stop?
Also, I signed up for the do not call list in order to be left alone, that includes charities (if i want to support a charity I will do it on my own without phone calls) and phone surveys. Makes me quite angry that I'm being told I am not entitled to have only people I chose to have my number call me...Something obviously needs to be done as far as Canadian law and people's rights go in regards to these phone calls.

I work for an organisation that legitimately does polling - usually via auto-dialer; usually using a random database. The purpose is to get opinions from the public - often to know if an 'idea' is 'getting out there'. Legitimate companies are part of a Marketing Association. If they are conducting government surveys - the laws allow them to call. (After all, your taxes pay for what the survey is about; the feedback is valuable since most people don't bother to contact their elected representative!) Read the Do Not Call Registry rules, people!
That being said, I am on the Registry - most companies (that aren't scammers) do comply when an update is requested - it costs them money to have surveys done. They'll stop if customers don't like it. If they don't comply and people USE the Regstry as intended; the companies are subject to heavy fines - all the big Telcos have been nailed - because people filed complaints, which is the point. It also helps identify scammers and scammer techniques. Its the CROOKs who have spoilt a good and well-intended system. I part-timed in a customer call-centre once - the intent is feedback, not harrassment. And they're entitled to common courtesy like anyone else. Crooks - I report every scam attempt to the Registry and PhoneBusters, to help NAIL the b....rds. Be part of the Solution!
So thanks, Research Dimensions - for updating us. Nice to know know some calls are real; but you should update your Call Display so it doesn't display as Unknown Number on our end - thats a dead giveaway, and we won't answer even if we are home - we're so sick of the Baddies. The fake-30-second surveys by that Florida Timeshare scam operation, made it so I don't answer any call unless I know who it is. I will answer if I can see that is it a LEGITIMATE survey company calling (if its not an inconvenient time).

Do Not Call List does NOT WORK - either for your house phone or cell phone - it is baloney! Whoever thought of that one ought to have his head examined or it anything else like the government it is to pay someone for nothing - most likely some relative.

You should google what "privacy invader" means. No never mind you don't have to google, all you need is a mirror.
G 2012-04-17 21:13:51 Unknown
Hm. You should probably google what "random sample" means.

Thank you i found your answer more helpful then the last...Now if I actually get removed this will be great I let a clear message about 3 weeks ago and of course still getting phone call, but becuase of this post I got a real person. Will keep everyone posted as to if this helps or not though.
Mandy 2011-12-19 23:54:07 Unknown
"Taking part in our surveys is completely voluntary. We try to call at reasonable times (not earlier than 9.00 a.m. or later than 9.30pm). We might call a telephone number up to 3 times if no one picks up, but after that the number is put aside for at least 6 months."
That right there is SUCHHHHHHHHHHH a lie.....This number calls my house every day it have now been 2 weeks, I know this becuase I have been home trying to recover from surgery, and get this phone call, and there is no survey because everytime we pick up you hang up...1 ring up to 5 and still hung up on.
and not sure where you are located but not all of Canada is the same time zone, 8am phone calls are really getting annoying.
Ron 2011-11-24 23:22:37 Survey
Just remember that when you give these scammers your phone number they are selling proven live numbers to every other scammer as well.

kudos to the above poster!
honestly though WTF am I paying to have my number unlisted for? and regarding the staff response of pickup and ask the person for your # to be removed would most definitely work best IF YOU DIDN'T HANG UP WHEN PEOPLE ANSWERED YOUR FKN CALLS!

To clarify what the two employees of Research Dimensions have said: "We can and will call you repeatedly because we aren't selling you anything."
Perhaps each of those two employees might want to give us their own home telephone numbers so that we, too, may call them repeatedly because we aren't selling anything.
Listen, RD... my local paper runs a Police column once a month telling the good citizens not to give out any personal information in emails or phone calls to unknown persons. You don't get to decide what is or is not personal information. We do. So stop calling. If you want a random sample, buy media spots on radio and tv and even google asking for those interested in taking a survey to contact you. Otherwise, you're spam. Never assume we're saying yes because you haven't heard our NO!
