Very useful info. In my case, there was no one on the line, not even a recording. This is illegal according to the CRTC. They call that a 'dead air call'. So I filed a complaint with the CRTC about this call, and then emailed the Globe, tearing a strip off them in the process!

I get many calls from number .. they are all silence and then hang up .

The Globe and Mail trying  to sell newspapers. Do they still print newspapers?
Strong East Indian accent, so I asked if he had a younger sister who wanted to get pregnant.....some of them are quite pretty!  Didn't get an answer, so maybe she will deliver the newspaper tonight?

Update: I phoned them back and asked the csr to put me on their do not call list and asked how soon this would take effect. Rep was very polite and said calls should stop instantly... let's see if the proof is in the pudding.

I am in New Brunswick and this number calls me about 10 times a day.

My family is from the 416 area so I asked them if it was someone's new cell or something, they said no. I have never picked up and, since my folks confirmed that they are not the ones calling, I likely never will.

Keeps calling my home phone. I refuse to answer. No one should be allowed to call my home phone. The DO NOT CALL list is a joke as I get unwanted calls almost every day, many times in the evening!

You can not stop someone from calling your phone. Your phone is a publicly built network, it is the same as knocking on your door or sending you a postcard. It is not against the law to ask. If the phone calls bother you then take some responsibility and the necessary steps. Do not depend on any corporation or agent for anything. It is MANDATORY you start to read the regulations or supreme court cases (with attention to definitions of legal terms) to truly comprehend the scope and scale of contracting. Recording all calls and keeping track of names (first and last) Bond number and insuring company. Why? so I can hold you accountable for every lie you spew through that gaping sewer you call a mouth.

416-646-8791 keeps calling me, I want to stop it.

we just start getting this call everyday, my guess is that it may be because my wife just apply for a PC master card & the company selling info to tele-marketing company

The caller with strong east indian accent asked me to subscribe the Globe and Mail. When I told him I was busy, he wants to call later...

They called us here in London multiple times in June 2013 and sometimes left strange messages on the answering machine (as if they didn't hear the greeting).  Wouldn't be surprised if it was newspapers.

they are IV Promotions, on behalf of a Globe and Mail. Reason you dont get a person when you answer, its a computer checking to see if number is operational so a real person can call you. Apparently, do not call list doesnt apply to newspapers..so I read

They have called me at home a few times and I say to them what I always say to telemarketers, "I can't talk right now because I am having sex with my girlfriend." They always hang up right away!!! LOL!!!
