Add Pinecone Brown to that list. Bunch of effin crooks, that's what they are. I accepted the last toner from them, told them I wouldn't accept another. They've been calling for payment and I was putting them off. I'd previously given them my dad's personal Visa, which we use for our business. His card is close to expiration, I specifically told the woman named Julie that I'd call back when my father activated the new card. She told me they didn't keep cards on file. WATCH OUT! Next thing you know, I get into work this morning and there's a charge on my dad's visa for $467.73, from Rose Paper Inc. Well hot damn! I'm seriously thinking about calling a lawyer. This was double what I paid before.

This company started sending us an ink cartridge as a trial.  We continued to receive these cartridges and were not sure why, they told us it was part of a promotional offer that we signed up for.  There was absolutley no promotional offer that was agreed to or signed for.  The sales person talked so fast he would not let you get an word in edge wise,  I finally cut him off and send nothing from this company was ever to be sent to our office again! We dont want gift cards for wal-mart, or tim hortons!!! Avoid this company at all cost!! It is terrible, the people that work there are insane!!!

I've also had a similar Call in May 2013.  Long lasting cartridges, etc.  I thought it would be good to try since the one cartridge I normally use is very expensive but it last me for about a year.  I accepted the quotation and it was delivered.  I've paid the order/invoice.

This morning received a call from their Auditor!!  Explaining that the order was not completed and that they still owe me 3 x R50 Woolworths vouchers.  I've received one!  I couldn?t hear her since I was driving and said she should phone me back.  Then when she phoned after about 10 minutes she said the order wasn?t completed since they still need to send me the other 2 of each cartridge.  I said to her that is not how I understood this and why would I order 3 cartridges if she told me they were long life and my cartridges usually last for over a year.  Why would I order 3?  She said a telephonic agreement is just as legal as a written agreement.  I?ve asked her to send me the agreement via email.  She only sent the invoice.  I wrote back and told them that this is a scam and I?m not interested in any cartridges and they should send me the voice recording of the original conversation because I never agreed to accept 3 cartridges of each.  She again said that it was a telephonic contract and that they still need to send me 2 of each to make up the 3 cartridges.
I remember a previous time I?ve searched on Google for the name of the people who phoned.  This time I couldn?t find anything on the internet about VILINDLELA DISTRIBUTORS (PTY) LTD  - Reg 2013/008472/07  and VAT 4130262654   But they are doing business the same way as all the others mentioned.

Therefore be warned:
Vilindlela Distributors (Pty) Ltd
reg number 2013/008472/07
VAT number 4130262654
Tel (011) 6093503
Fax (011) 4525497
P O Box 16738, Dowerglen, 1612

I told this lady that I'm not interested and don't send me the cartridges because I will not accept them or sign for them.  She said I will still be reliable for payment since the "computer" throws out my company registration number and Vat number and that I should still pay for that.  I've told her but I'm not registered....I mean I would know if I am registered or not....she kept on arguing that I am registered and that I have to pay.

Keep an eye out for these people.  They are all the same - operating on different business names.  And note - normally no physical address.

Same story here. I did order the first one, thought, heck sure try it out save the company some money.

Then the "free" toners for being good customers started arriving. Several weeks later invoices would show up.

The final straw where I pieced it all together happened when they randomly sent toner, which I knew we had not ordered nor had they called to say it was a gift for being a good customer. I called them up and a terse lady said it was part of an order that was placed earlier that they forgot to send. Weird, but sure. Then the invoice came. Then another invoice came shortly after (for the same order). I searched for the company name online and found boards like this one. I didn't even bother to call them to sort it out. My entire experience was documented by so many other people, why call just to be abused?

I went straight to the BBB, filed my complaint and shortly thereafter received a call from a nice women saying that they were going to send a courier to pick up the toner. They did.

There BBB rebuttal was this: "First off the Customer was never told anything was free, we run a business not a donation centre, she placed an order with my company and got a discount based on a quantity order of 5 products which 4 of them have been paid for, Pinecone brown picked up the last shipment at the companys expense."

We were never told there was a minimum to order nor do we have signed a contract with them.

Contact the BBB or the Anti Fraud Centre mentioned above if you happen to have done bad business with them. According to the older posts here, they also go by the names Wilson Woods or Chester Cross.

Thanks to Stan for your advise.  I too called the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre and they advised that I write a letter to Pinecone Brown telling them that they had 30 days from the date of letter to pick up their cartridge at their expense or it would be destroyed and the matter closed.  Within 5 days of sending the letter, FedEx arrived and picked up the package (I had it ready and waiting in the same box it arrived in).  I also told them not to bother contacting me again.
I haven't heard from them since!!!!  Nasty people that are just a waste of skin as far as I concerned and not worth any more of my time.

Same crap from these guys. They tried to roll us over with sending 2 cartridges 3 years ago, than got threats on the phone to pay. and wouldnt take back the second. "Just pay the damn bill" was their response by some girl. She was quite irate.
Today, with a new accountant which didnt know the situation 3 years ago, said yes to the 1 cartridge, but once I seen the package knew it was the same 'PINECONE BROWN" from Tronoto trying to scam us with mroe cartridges. In the end and as the president of my company, this irate female named "KAREN'" which is likely not her real name because she couldnt live with herself, decided to be irate with me screaming and yelling on the phone to pay my invoice(which was not valid). So I told them to go screw themselves and wont accept their crap, and was reporting them to Consumer and Corporate Affairs asap.  But than another female named "Joanne" called back and said send back the cartridge and the Tim Horton card for $12, they would authorize a pick up.
What a s*** show they are. They dont even have a mailing address on their web site and they use a "hotmail" address.REAL PROFESSIONAL.
Anyway, anyone being approachecd by them should dodge them like the plague. Just asking for trouble. They probably work out of their basement and they charge $189 for a 5000 yield, but only get about 2000 yield. Their cartridges dont last and the whole thing is a scam.
ALL THE BEST TO THE ONES THAT WANT TO RISK IT.

Awesome! Unfortunately the sad truth is companies like this will always exist. One might get shutdown, but another one pops up. And it's usually the same people, but under a different name. Best thing we can do is educate people to not deal with these types of companies and avoid getting scammed.

Yes, I was ripped off also.  They sent me a cartridge with the Tim Horton's gift card.  Then a few months later they claimed that they forgot to send me the second cartride.  I told them I did not order a second cartride.  They claimed it was part of the promotional deal I got, which I did not agree to.  They said they could not take back the cartridges after I told them I was very unimpress with this product, very poor quality, and terrible service................now, reading the complaints I am finding out that I think I was scammed.

UPDATE

Thanks to Wendy who replied to my earlier post, I called 41 Division about my experience with Pinecone Brown.  They advised me to call the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.

After accepting and following their advice, I received a courteous call from Pinecone Brown saying that they would pick up the cartridge that had been sent to me within one day.

Surprise!

The courier arrived and picked it up.

I have not heard from Pinecone Brown since.

I recommend that anybody who is having difficulty with this type of situation call the Canadian Anti Fraud Centre immediately.

I've also had the wonderful experience of dealing with Geordanna from Pine Cone Brown. This morning to be exact. She claimed to be making a follow up call to calls that took place in the summer by summer students. As I'm chief buyer on toners here at our office I found it strange. We have strict policies on who we deal with for Toners and I only go to market with known suppliers. These companies work under different names but the style is always the same....pressure tactics and always trying to find out what kind of printer you have (they want model numbers etc). We got caught in this scam once..over 12 years ago (believe they were called Office Supplies Depot) and it is since then that we've become EXTRA vigilant when it comes to companies cold calling on Office Supplies and Toners. To stay safe,  I never ever tell a caller what printers we use. If legit, the company will totally understand. If not, then they will start to skate or others, like PineCorn will become RUDE. The minute I asked the wonderful Geordanna who was the person who called us originally, she started accusing me of being rude and threw out some other words before hanging up on me. She called from 416-750-8356 as Name Blocked.
For that scam we were victim to, we sent them a registered letter to come pick up the unordered toner and that we owed them nothing. We also cc'd the consumer protection agency here in QC...and that got rid of them.
Yes please do file complaints as while we laugh at them, there are innocent people who are getting caught in these scams. First thing I did after that phone call was check the company online. I saw the BBB complaints before I saw this forum and that alone confimed to me that the unprofessionalism of their caller goes hand in hand with the kind of company it is. So if someone falls victim, file a complaint. These companies not only sell toners that may damage your printers but they also charge you more than double what a legit company would sell for.
So beware and stay away from them. Deal with reputable companies and never do business or order by phone from a company you don't know. Better to take the extra time, get all their info and research them before committing to any business dealings.

Debt Collector
I received a telephone call from a salesperson from Pinecone Brown who indicated that they would like to have me try a printer cartridge.  She explained that they put much more toner in their cartridges than other suppliers and that she would be sending along a Tim Horton's gift certificate along with the cartridge.  She was a very pleasant sales person, with good sales skills.  I accepted the offer and received the cartridge, along with the gift card several days later.  Within a few days, I sent the cheque for the order.

A couple of weeks later, I received another call saying that I should have received two toner cartridges when I made my order.  I told her that I did not need another one at this time, but she assured me that the second one was free and that it would be accompanied by another Tim Horton's gift certificate.  She assured me that this was their way of showing appreciation for my business.  She indicated that the owner of the business was an 80 year old lady, who was quite interested in showing appreciation to customers.

The second cartridge arrived a couple of days later, along with the gift certificate.  Enclosed was an invoice with $0.0 at the bottom.

Within a few days, I received a second invoice for $225.44.

I called immediately to speak with them about the matter and spoke with a person who said her name was Julie.  I explained the situation to her and told her that I would send back the second cartridge, since I did not need it.  She explained that this was not possible because they were a wholesale operation and were required to send two cartridges because they did not sell one cartridge at a time.  She then offered to provide a 10% reduction and suggested that I deduct that amount from my payment.

I asked for her e-mail address and she assured me that they did not have one.

I told her that I was not happy and that I would be looking into the matter.

I went to the net and found their website,  I then sent a complaint, but heard nothing back from them until I received another call on December 17, 2012.

The collections lady asked when she could expect to receive my cheque.  I went over my story again, but she explained that she could not deal with the matter since her area was collections.

She put me onto Julie again.  What a change in personality.  She was abrasive and rude.  She shouted that I should get on with paying my bills or she would deal with me in court.

She then hung up on me.

Like the other people who have had bad dealings with this company, I feel that there has to be a way of dealing with getting this company closed.

Called private name from 416-750-8356, (this is my 1st experience too) saying the exact same things as the threads on top. I clued in when she was rude at start, then when I inquired more and said I wasn't interested (i didn't need toner), she hung up.  While she was talking, luckily I googled this, and was reading this thread while she was talking.

Dear Customer Service:

Apparently, a sales rep of yours who has since died persuaded an ex-employee of mine to agree to purchase a series of printer cartridges from us in exchange for a bribe of Tim Horton's gift cards.

As far as I can determine, we have purchased three cartridges from you and paid for these.  When a new cartridge arrived that we had no order on the records for, my staff challenged this and instructed your firm to collect the unordered merchandise.  It appears as though you have no purchase order from us, and I certainly do not have a purchase order in my system for more cartridges from you.  When nobody collected this, one of my staff called again and this degenerated into a yelling match between one of my staff and your "customer service" rep who accused us of stealing C$40.00 of your "product."

In order to put an end to this nonsense, I instructed my staff to prepare a check for C$40.00 to cover the cost of your Tim's cards (of which they claim they received two worth a total of C$20.00) and send this cartridge back to you.  I do not approve of firms bribing my staff and sending products I have not authorized.  Today, the cartridge came back to us by Canada Post, and I had to pay to get this back.

So here we are.  You have a customer who never wants to hear from you again and you continue to play games.  I cannot figure out why you bother to do this.  It certainly is not in your self interest and will get you nowhere.

Please issue a call tag to pick up your cartridge and check for C$40.00.  If we do not hear from you within 30 days, this cartridge will be disposed of, the check cancelled, and the matter closed.  We have not ordered an unending stream of cartridges, do not want these sent, and will not pay for them.

Feel free to have the president of your company call me to discuss this at 416.232.0376 if you wish. I have no desire to speak with your abusive customer service staff.

Sincerely,

Paul Crosby

Watch our for this company. We got sales call from them and ordered two toners to try.

Then few months later we got a new toner in the mail that we did not order, we called and Karen said that we cannot return it. She said that we have to pay for them saying that my colleague ordered 4 toners on her first order, when she only ordered 2. They are rude and harass you on the phone.

Too bad that we have already paid for the previous orders, otherwise we would have sent everything back!

DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM!

Beware of this company. A Geordanna (sp?) called me incessantly last week and I was always in a meeting. She never left her number but always wanted me to get the message. Phone rang this morning at my desk and noticed it say Private Number. Once I picked up and realized it was Geordanna I immediately asked her why she kept calling last week. She went on to talk about the toner and I interrupted her and said I was not interested. She replied "You're not interested in saving money?" and I said "I don't have time for this" and she yelled "Thanks for wasting my time!!!!!" and hung up in my ear. I immediately googled the company and found their number. I called and "customer service" would not let me speak to Geordanna nor a manager. She said she would have someone call me back. While waiting for a manager to call me back I sent an email as well. Needless to say no one has contacted me. DO NOT talk nor purchase from these people. They are scammers through and through. Hang up if you get the call.

Received a phone call today from a woman claiming to represent a company called Pinecone Brown.  In my 30-year professional career as an office administrator in several high-profile institutions in the GTA, I've never heard of this so-called company.  I also know that any "business" masking its identity with the ubiquitous "Private Number" in call display is most likely not on the up-and-up.

The caller asked to speak to the person in charge of ordering or replacing toner supplies, or printers or something.  This woman was vague about the purpose of her call, denied (with a verbal sneer) that she was selling anything, spoke to me v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y as if I were stupid, and became instantly rude and defensive when I asked her politely for more information in order to best direct the call.  Within seconds, she had become downright abusive.

Now, personally or professionally, I don't take abuse from anyone, and I've heard just about every scam in the book, and so she never got anywhere close to picking my pocket with her toner/Tim Horton's story.  Whatever her real purpose was, her own misguided behaviour precluded any success in that venture in about 10 seconds flat.

When I ended the "conversation" with a polite reminder that she was behaving inappropriately, she cut me off in mid-sentence, said that she didn't like MY attitude, and called me a b*tch before slamming the phone down in my ear.

One wonders whether the people behind this scam are more than just Artful Dodger wannabes.  Perhaps they are mentally ill and seek a sadistic kick by making abusive, threatening, offensive calls to honest, unsuspecting folks who are actually trying to do their jobs.  No doubt Ms. Pinecone-Brown and her cronies sit down with their coffees each day and read these posts for entertainment value, much like the rest of us do crosswords or watch TV.

Sadly for Ms. P-B, rather than get a rise out of me with her shock tactics, all she did was make me laugh.

However, I do feel for those whose bank accounts have been lightened by Pinecone Brown et al, and those who will have the misfortune of answering one of these phone calls in future.  No worries.  Rather than lodge a complaint with the Better Business Bureau about this incident, I'll be contacting someone with far more clout:  the National Head Office of my employer, who takes matters of ethics and social justice extremely seriously.  With hundreds of offices and branches in the GTA and Canada-wide, it will take only minutes to get the message across the entire country about these pathetic little people.

Then I'll be heading out to Tim Horton's for a well-deserved break.  Coffee, anyone?

Wow all my company can do is laugh at you, you must be a very sad ,and angry person. I actually feel bad for you. As for free products everyone keeps going on about, why don't you call H.P, Brother, Lexmark let's see if they will give you a free toner. It is people like you and these other companies that feel just , because we are a smaller company that no other consumer rules apply , that you don't have to pay for products, can just return stuff whenever they feel. We have been in business for 35 YEARS I' am sure a scam company can stay around that long!! I am glad though you felt the need to make fun of people who are trying to make a living and feed their families, I hope you sleep well at night.
