i received a call from these people and they had hacked all of my information.  A lawsuit was threatened and a phoney address to wire money to was given.  I contacted the creditor who said they had no idea who these people are and to send them nothing.   as expected it is an elaborate scam.  I have given the company the number 424-258-1984 for future avoidance.

I, like everyone else, get calls from this number (as well as 714-459-5878) on an almost weekly basis at around 6:45 am.  The person on the other end has a super thick Middle Eastern accent and leaves a message that the person they are looking for needs to call the "424" phone number. When I got this call this morning, I pointed out to the person on the other end that they were calling at a very very unprofessional hour of the morning (6:45) and that most reputable businesses to my knowledge weren't open at this time.  His response..."so?".  I called the number again on my way into work, same person answered.  I asked to speak to a supervisor.  He states that he is the supervisor.  I can hardly hear him on the phone so I ask him to speak up.  He does..slightly.  I tell him again that I can still hardly hear him and if he could speak up a bit more.  This man SCREAMS into the phone asking me if I can hear him now.  I tell him there's no need to scream at me on the phone. He continues to do so.  And then he hangs up.

I call back a few minutes later.  Ask to speak w a supervisor again.  He proceeds to say that he already told my stupid *ss that he was a supervisor.  I tell him that rudeness isn't going to get him far in terms of talking with me.  He starts yelling again.  I just start talking over him.  I ask where he's calling from.  He tells me it's none of my business.  I tell him it is my business considering he's the one that's been calling me.   He then scream "F^cK you!" and hangs up.

I have been receiving calls from this man for the past 4 months. He would give me his name and ask me to hold while he connected me with his "manager". After I waited for about 5 seconds, he would get back on the phone and say that he was the manager with a different name, but the same voice LOL. I finally got annoyed by him and started talking back. He got really frustrated and started yelling at me. I told him that he sounds stupid yelling at me while pretending he was a business man. Someone trying to talk about something supposedly serious, would not yell at you. After I laughed at him and hung up, he called back and asked for a different name. I'm guessing he thinks everyone is as stupid as he is. If you keep getting calls from these people, just talk back and hang up, they hate that because they can't get a word in LOL. It's been 4 days and I have not received a call back yet.

The scary thing is that they know all your personal information(including your social). They keep saying it's for a loan, so I'm guessing it's from an online "loan" company, so watch out. I have requested online loans before, but never actually went through with getting one, so I know it's a scam.

Gat a call from Hue Foster who said he is with the Back Office of the Calif Court Fraud Division.  He said he was down loading a case against me tomorrow for several criminal acts i commited when I took out a payday loan in December of 2009.  When I asked him what the loan amount was he told me, "I don't know 3 or 4 humdred dollars.  Then he tells me I needed to pay him $1256.45 and the case would go away.  When I asked him the name of the company I took the loan out with he told me it was Cash Advance of America.  When I told him I checked my bank statement I did not have any Deposits from that company.  He satated naming other companies, none of which deposited money into my account.  When I asked him to sent me the documents for the loan he told me there was no documents because it is a payday loan.  After I argued with him for several minutes he got piss and started yelling and then hung up.  He called back and tried to talk to me real nice and when I told him to send me the documents and I would turn them over to my attorney and he got mad, told me he was going to notify my employer, file the case against me, have me arrested next week and hung up again.

these people call me also relentlessly!   They call me at work, and on my cell.   They have threatened me so many times......basically all of these calls have been like the others ones i have read here on this posting.    I have asked them many times what i owe, and to whom i owe..... they won't tell me.   As a matter of fact.... they have never said i owe any thing.   They just want me to repeat my SS# and threaten me by acting like a law firm.    I have researched this phone #, and this is a cell #.   No listing of a land line.     When i told him i was reporting him, and pressing charges and asked for his company name & address.........he yelled F@$% You to me and hung up!   I'm pretty sure any one from any legal counsil or law firm would ever behave like that.  He keeps telling me I'm in "Big Trouble".... but refuses to tell me why!    I want these people to stop.    How can we do that?

From Lamet's post:

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
1.    The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.
2.    Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.
3.    File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone.  Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.
4.    File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.wvago.gov
5.    File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)

By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

Consumer Alert: Attorney General warns Kansans of debt collection scam

January 29, 2010 -- Attorney General Steve Six is cautioning Kansas consumers about telephone calls from apparent fake debt collectors who are impersonating law enforcement officers in an effort to extort money from consumers.   Consumers are warned to not submit payments to these fraudulent debt collectors.

When calling, the scammers most often state they are attempting to collect a debt related to an internet payday loan obtained by the consumer, but which the consumer never repaid.  Consumers state they have never obtained such a loan or paid off the loan years ago.  The scam artists have most recently identified themselves as ACS, National Affidavit Processing Department and United Financial Crime Division, but may use additional phony names.  It appears the phone numbers used by the scammers are ?spoofed? numbers, so that the number appearing on a consumer?s caller ID is not the actual number of where the call originated. It appears the calls in question may be originating from outside the United States.

When questioned, the individual calling refuses to disclose the full name or address of the collection agency they claim to represent.  These scammers have been able to provide consumers with identifying information, such as the consumer?s social security number, home address, e-mail address, names of family members and the consumer?s computer IP address.  Since the callers are able to provide valid personal information, consumers may become confused and believe they are being contacted in regard to a legitimate debt.

If the initial debt collection scam is unsuccessful, consumers have been re-contacted months later with the scammers posing as law enforcement officers or officers of the court.  Typically, the consumer is threatened with arrest for fraud or some other fictitious crime unless the consumer agrees to immediately wire money via Western Union.  The fictitious officers strive to frighten and confuse consumers into compliance by using legal sounding terms such as ?We?re filing an affidavit against you? or by stating a lawsuit has been or is in the process of being filed against the consumer.

A hallmark of each scam has been calling consumers repeatedly at their place of employment.  This scam hit home when an employee of the Kansas Attorney General?s Office was repeatedly called both on her cell phone and at work.  Despite the employee?s repeated verbal disputes, the caller refused to provide any identifying information to allow her to send a written dispute. The scammer also continued to call her numerous times a day regarding a payday loan she denied obtaining. Two months later, she was again contacted by telephone by an individual identifying himself as an ?officer?.

?I denied owing the debt and refused to pay without being provided validation of the debt. I was then told, ?If that?s the case, I will have local law enforcement come to your place of business and drag you out kicking and screaming?,? stated the employee.

?It is important for consumers to know their rights under the law,? Attorney General Six said. ?If a consumer is receiving calls from a debt collection company and believe it is a scam, I encourage them to contact our office immediately.?

Under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), collectors are required to send consumers a written notice within five days of the initial contact.  The notification should contain  information such as the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed and a statement informing the consumer they have thirty days to contact the debtor in writing to dispute the debt or request validation of the debt. In addition, legitimate debt collectors are prohibited by the FDCPA from making false or misleading representations, such as the consumer has committed a crime, implying nonpayment will result in the consumer?s arrest, or using the threat of violence.

More information is available on the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act at http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf.

To register a complaint with the Kansas Attorney General?s Consumer Protection Division, call 1(800) 432-2310 or visit www.ksag.org.

I recieve calls almost daily from 424-258-1984 saying I owe money for a payday loan I have taken out. I have never recieved money for any loan.  When I ask details about the loan (amount, company, how I recieved) I just get threatened and hung up on.  They call my work, and my cell.  Its really starting to get annoying.  I on a couple occasions have called back in which they threaten to put more "charges" on me if I didnt quit calling.  So then me and my roommate started calling them together for hours.  They finally said the cops would be at my job on Monday to arrest me.  Instead I recieved another phone call and when I refused to give my SS# he hung up on me.  I havent gotten a name because I cant really understand what he is saying until I piss him off and he starts yelling.  My best advice is to keep calling them back, over and over again.  They get annoyed really quick.

I have received a call from these people as well.  They have called my home, my cell, and my work.  It's getting to the point where I don't even answer my phones anymore and my job is getting irritated.  I work for the government so them constantly calling my office is now affecting my job.  This is ridiculous.  On the payday loans, they actually state that your information would not be given out to others so obviously they lied and that is against the law as well.  Something needs to be done about these people!!

This is for anyone who has used a payday loan or used as a referral.

The person that calls is usually a man with a Middle Eastern accent. This is the message "he' normally leaves- This message is intended for (your first and last name). From there 'he" refers to you by your first name. He tells you that he needs to hear from you or your attorney in reference to a case that will be filed against you. He warns that if you or your attorney do not respond, he cannot do anything "as the case unfolds upon you". They are obviously reading it.
The first time I received this call I returned it. It went to some dude's cell phone. I normally let the call go to voicemail but I have answered a couple of times. I told them that I had my attorney on the line and on a different occassion I had an officer answer the phone. Both times they have hung up. They call from so many different numbers and give some many different names that is nearly impossible to block the numbers. However, the message remains the same.
