I gave them my phone number from an ad they ran. They do paid consumer studies. They're legit. My son did several while he was unemployed and had time for it.

So,  I just got a job with Fieldwork. There are two ways we get numbers to call. The first is you signing up.  Most people that don't know of us signed up years and years ago. The other is from the aforementioned medical databases,  provided by us by a company that you must have signed up for to be on their database.

Don't want calls? Politely tell us to take you off our list. You'll be out of our database in 72 hours.

I got a call a couple of days ago.  They said they're contacting customers of Puget Sound Energy for a focus group.  I had to run, so didn't learn any more.  I called PSE and they did hire Field Work to make phone calls for a focus group.  For once, it's not a sales call :)

I am a PSE customer, but I don't remember ever giving my name and number for paid surveys or anything like that.  They must have another way of choosing who to call. I wonder if it has to do with a petition I signed a couple of months ago regarding private ownership of the power company (can't remember details).

I also received a call when I had never signed up. I asked how they got my information, and it turns out sometimes client lists are provided to them by customers. That is probably why they called you.

Just wanted to comment that this place does paid studies. Not the medical kind, but typically for companies that plan on offering new products. Basically you just sit around a big table and talk about a certain product, what you expect, what could improve, etc. etc.

I've done two myself for products that microsoft and bank of america planned to offer.

I'm 90 percent sure that they don't call you unless you have given them your number to participate in their paid research.  And the research is usually targeted towards the everyday consumer, nothing sketchy.

I suggest picking this call up. I have done multiple focus groups with these folks and it has always been a good experience.

200$ for an hour and a half of my time? Yes pleas!

They pay you in cash as you walk out the door and the studies are always pretty fun in my experience.

caller ID said "out of area" and the recording wasn't clear, so the other encouraging comments here are appreciated.

Fieldwork is a company that hires people to do consumer research on products. Ive done it a couple times. You go to thier office, they ask questions about your lawncare or a food products packaging, and you get paid for it.
There is nothing to be afraid of...really, your paranoid

From Fieldwork Seattle - they are in a very expensive part of Kirkland (near Seattle). Below is a quote from their Web site at http://www.fieldwork.com/Facility/Home.aspx?FacilityID=28.

"Fieldwork Seattle boasts a new consumer database rich in high income, high education and highly technical respondents and an unprecedented medical database."

That last bit about "unprecedented medical database" really bothers me.
