The Do Not Call list makes no difference in the case of these scam artists. If you acknowledge them in any way by calling them back or pressing a number, then they know they have a valid phone number and they will hound you to death. Don't respond to them in any way!

This number was from Renton just now and I have had him call my home number before with the same line.

Get on the phone with a live agent and ask lots of questions. Pretend to be hard of hearing and misunderstand what they are saying/asking you. Keep trying to find out who "paid" for the system and shipping. Tell them to contact the person who ordered they system for you for the shipping address. Anything you can think if to waste their time. Give them a fake name and address in the next county. Go here: http://www.getcreditcardnumbers.com/ to get a credit card number to give them. Do it each time they call.

So, how do we get rid of this irritating Medical Alert call?
I've received the call at least half a dozen times in the last few weeks.

I'm sick to death of getting this call!

John from Medical Alert Shipping department calls me 2 to 4 times a day and has done this for the past 3 or 4 weeks. He says my order is all paid for and ready to ship. I'm busy and I need it to stop A.S.A.P.
My phone lists Renton, WA, as the source of the call.
Mike-in-MD 2013-07-26 02:33:19 Unknown
You were actually talking to a recording made to sound like a real person. Later in the message you would have been told to press "1" to confirm delivery or press "5" to decline. If you press "1" you actually get a real person but as soon as they figure out you are not interested they hang up but the calls will continue. They continue because the agent you get talk to has no reason to take any action to remove your number and every reason to move on to the next potential victim as fast as possible. You will also find that it is impossible to get a verifiable name and address of the calling company.

Yep, just got the same call. I answered and it was "John" trying to ship me the medical alert system that was ordered for me that has already been paid for. I told him to take me off his call list. He kept repeating himself that it had been ordered for me and it had already been paid for. I kept saying "No thank you", "no thank you", "no thank you". And he wouldn't shut up, so I finally just hung up. I'm sure I'll hear back from him since I was an idiot and engaged in conversation with him. Sigh.
BTW, his call came in at 7:15pm on a Thursday evening.

File a Complaint with Washington state Attorney General
https://fortress.wa.gov/atg/formhandler/ago/ComplaintForm.aspx#.UfHT_ZU0Pww
It is a total scam on the seniors in our community

Someone from this number has called my mother twice. She, too, read the AARP article, so she knows it is a scam, but we were hoping to find more information as to the name of the company actually doing the calling. I'll take a peek on the FTC website today to see about filing a complaint. If it's as easy as filling out a web form, I'll probably do it...and buy Mom and airhorn for the next time they call.

Same crap everyone else has got from this number. I'm in Spokane so its not just a Seattle area thing.

"Hi..This is John. Im trying to send you the medical alert equipment you ordered"
Twice I have gotten this call and hung up after that.
Its a scam.
why try to suck up old people who would think they did order this.
This number was from Renton just now and I have had him call my home number before with the same line.

sign up for the DONOT CALL. I signed up about a year ago and no more calls from these beings...I still get calls and if I do not recognize name or number, do not answer. Usually it takes 1 o2 times of not answering and they go away.

Robocaller is shilling some sort of crappy senior citizen monitoring service. They masked their actual company name and location by making callerid show the name of a nearby large town. I think this is a sleazy underhanded trick to lure people into picking up. Number 425-873-2847.

We receive a call from this number every afternoon with no answer when we pick up the phone no answer when we try to call back. We wish to have this stopped.

I need them to stop calling me - I am elderly and I think they are trying to scam me. I feel threatened by their calls.

Why are we being inundated by many unwanted, unsolicited calls from a variety of different phone numbers 425 873 2847 is just one of many. I have very painful arthritis and to get up and answer these calls causes many problems. I'm sure I'm not the only senior person with the same problem. Does anyone care anymore. When I find out who these people are and I do sometimes, I will not/have not patronized them.

My mom got one of these from the dirtbag at this number
Marcy 2013-07-20 03:39:20 Unknown
Sheesh, this is terrible....I also received a call from this number. The message was something about me ordering a life alert item and it will be shipped. NO I didn't order one (however, I do think they are wonderful for seniors....my mom fell a few years ago and she had one and the ambulance came for her) BUT I feel bad for seniors who get this call and press the numbers they ask you to ......it is a scam....
CR 2013-07-20 00:31:37 Telemarketer
Similar calls re: Medical Alert, but they did leave a message. Checked here as I didn't recognize it.
Message said that "your order for a Medical Alert system is waiting to be delivered and is already paid for. (rattling papers) Oh, I see here that the shipping was paid as well. All at no cost to you! If you ordered it for yourself or someone else who needs it, just hit 1; hit 5 to decline the order. If you already have one, just hang up!"
I guess people fall for these, as they keep on comin' into our homes!
I'll check AARP Bulletin (Thanks, Billie) & like the idea of setting up sting #'s or a forward # to a police or other #.. (thanks, EyeWillCatchU)

make a complaint to the FTC. what these scumsuckers are doing is illegal.
Billie 2013-07-19 04:19:10 Unknown
The problem lies in the fact that the medic alert for seniors scammers use all spoofed (false) numbers that are difficult to track. If legislation pending were to pass, that would outlaw this practice, we would see a sharp decline in these calls, as these criminals could be located and prosecuted.

Fed Up! 2013-07-17 02:59:37 Telemarketer
We've received several phone calls from this number even though we 've told them not to call. Definitely needs to be dealt with through legal channels. Not much faith in the govt. dealing with this!
EyewillcatchU 2013-07-17 02:17:59 Unknown
Several calls come in without msg. I immediately search the number just to know who, where the call origination. The Feds should set up sting numbers and track these calls. That's what we all need to Vote for and/or push our congressional leaders for this type of crimes. Maybe a 'forward' key to send those calls to The Authorities immediately, maybe they would act then.
DNel 2013-07-16 23:49:59 Unknown

Billie 2013-07-16 20:30:46 Unknown

I've received several calls from a recorded message telling me they are ready to shipped the emergency response item I've ordered. It's a total SCAM, not to mention illegal. I don't know if it's the same number each time.
