I agree...in my opinion these collectors are basically criminals, and to prove that is easy...their robocalls are illegal, and who knows what else that they are doing which is illegal.

These vampires need to be investigated and closed down. People shouild not have to be harrassed like this over debt past the Statute of Limitations, and called at their place of work over it, which no doubt affects the person's credibility on the job and their future earnings potential.

I would be in total agreement to a huge class action lawsuit against these blatant scammers, as well as pursuing criminal charges against them for at the very least, the illegal robocalls..

They used to call my home phone about 3 times a day... now they call EVERY weekday morning at about 8:30! It's ridiculous! The ID comes up as "AssetAcceptance"... I don't have any assets that need to be given to me so leave me alone people!

This is a debt collector (Asset Acceptance) a bottom feeding operation. If you respond, they'll use you information in order to try and collect a debt they purchased for pennies on the dollar. They are the worst of the worst, and have been sued countless times for illegal collection activities. My phone system automatically blocks calls from all their numbers, so they're wasting their time, not mine.Don't believe a word they say, they will lie about everything.

I got a call from 434-878-9956 today.  It shows as being from 'assetacceptance'.  For some reason I answered this time and they asked me if I was 'my name' and after I told her that this was a business number but I'd take a message and asked who she was; she said "that would be against federal law" and "I'll look him up and get his number some other way"

This number is Asset Acceptance, a scumbag debt collector. They purchase stale debt for pennies on the dollar and try to get you to pay it off. Don't believe ANYTHING they say. They're lying B*****ds on their best days, worse most of the time. Ignore them!

Our phone number has registered with the DO NOT CALL LIST for years.  I register it every year but it dosen´t seem to matter.  Either they don´t care or our government dosent  care.  I don´t answer it.  What is a lot of fun is to just put the  phone on speaker and let them listen to the radio, or better yet, have the TV on a court station and just let them listen to it!!!!!!  They hang up real fast and I get a good laugh!!!

Why are they not being prosecuted for an illegal activity, in which them trying to collect money past the statute of limitations is a scam anyway, preying on the naive and ignorant...usually the elderly who don't know any better.

Reason I did this is because even though I've had my phone # for 6 years, I think the previous ppl who had my # still gives it out and frankly it's a crock. I hate it. But turns out that they were indeed looking
for the person who no longer has my number.

So, for those of you out there who still get calls for other people or you just got your phone number. Call the 800 # I just posted from the phone they call you on so they can se your number and tell them! Then they will remove your number associated with the person they are looking for!

I got calls from "General Warranty" with that # (434-878-9956) on my machine nearly daily after I got my new phone number.  I do not have any debts and have never had a car warranty.  I live alone. They are not calling for me but I don't trust them to stop calling after reading about them.

I called them back, but couldn't get a person.  Finally, I made up a 4 digit # when the recording asked for one.  Guess what?  I got through.  Only it was called "Asset Acceptance."  According to the other website, it's the same company.

I pushed 0102, then # sign.  I got through.  Got some time on your hands?  Call them.  Fifty times a day.  Try other extensions.  Use this ruse with the other phone #s they use (there are several.)  Let's give them a taste of their own medicine.

They insist on knowing if they're talking to Janet L. Dyer, but won't tell me who they are or what they're calling about.  I don't know anything about this #, and I sure don't know why they're calling me, or how they got my #, but it's harrassment, plain and simple.  I get calls all hrs. of the day, and night.   I told them to stop calling, but they persist.  Can't anything be done?

I never got any calls like this on my cell until I bought a computer from Dell and had to give them the number for shipping.  So much for "your personal information is very important to us".  Verizon is just as bad for giving out your phone number to a bunch of people you don't want to have it.

Have gotten a call from this number a couple of times on my cell asking for Christine (her name was given as a reference) I asked what kind of company was calling and the young woman said it was a financial company.  I asked if it was a collection company - she said No, but I think it is.  Lots of stuff going on out there after reading the other comments!!
