If you check with Utah Consumer Protection you will find out that 0% of the money goes back to the charity. It should NOT be legal to call this organization a charity. If you want to help donate directly to the burn camp and not through this sleezy, scam operation.

Thank you for the information. I called and hope it works. The telemarketer made my 8 year old son cry. He felt very threatened when he said his parents weren't home - he and his older brothers were just from school. The caller called him a liar and used 'lots of bad words' when he hung up. I got a call at work from a very upset little boy. If he is brazen enough to call back when I'm home, he'll be sorry!!
Firefighters are great, I completely support them, but they need to hire another group to fund raise for them.

Thanks for this info! We are supporters of the fire and police departments in our home as we have family in those professions. We kept getting calls from 238-7787 PFFU and didn't really pay much attention until tonight when I wasn't home and Beau ( the "gentleman") that called scared my daughter so bad she thought someone was coming to get her... He asked her if her mom was home and saying he was sick and going crazy trying to reach me then asked for her dad and when she said he was busy he got nasty and asking if he really was or if she was lying... Sheesh I realize they've got a job but that certainly isn't the way to get money from me.... EVER!

I tell them that I will make a donation directy to the U of U burn unit, and not thru them. As is stated in several of these responses, KSL did a report on them once, and concluded that they keep 80% of the money for themseves. I watched this myself. They should be in jail.

I get these calls often as well. On one call I told the caller that KSL had exposed their scam and I was aware that they keep 80% for themselves. I told him that I will send a donation directly to the burn unit and not thru them. I donated once to them prior to watching the KSL report on them.

I didn't answer the phone but in the past have had fire fighters call for money and be very nasty when we said we couldn't afford to and litterally tells us we could and how much to give.

He called here tonight actually a minute ago and asked for Lois, when I said she doesn't live here, he asked for the lady of the house. I told him she was just going to bed and put the phone down on him.

From 435-294-1220: caller ID showed PFFU. In an arrogant an rude manner the caller said he was calling from The Professional Fire Fighters of Utah (I know that's not the case). When I started asking him politely to remove my name and number from his calling list, I heard him say "F... you" while he hung up!!

Keep getting a call even after Ive told them three times that I cound'nt do it.

News story on KSL.com about PFFU
Our investigation found 80 cents of every dollar you give goes to the telemarketing firm making the phone calls. Twenty cents goes to the firefighters. And from that 20 cents, the burn victims get 7 pennies.

I called the number back and received a recorded message. I listened to the whole message and it gave a 800 number to call. I called that number and listened to another recorded message only this time it gave me a number to select to be taken off of the list to call. I selected this and the message stated that I would no longer be contacted....The number to call is 800-253-3550. Hope this helps

got a call from 435-294-1220. No answer from anyone after I said hello, then I hung up and found this site. I did not hear anything on the line, so I just hung up.

They have called a few evenings in a row. I say hello, they don't answer. I hang up. They call again. Someone please make them stop. They are wasting minutes!

Called and asked for someones last name then hung up.

This number called me tonight around 8:30 PM. They asked if this was Mr. so and so...my last name but totally butchered. I said "Can I help you with something" in a nasty tone, and they hung up. It literally sounded like a 15 year old boy calling, and there was noise and voices in the background. I'm located in the Salt Lake Valley...Sandy to be specific.

Recieved call from 435-294-1220, PFFU, said hello once, waited, male voice was laughing and then said "I'd like to see that, [ha ha ha] put your finger in your a** and then suck your thumb"
These are the persons selected to collect money in the name of firefighters that put their all on the line for persons in need that they've never met? This isn't over.

We get these calls multiple times a day. I wish it would stop, it is so annoying. Sometimes they don't even answer when you say hello.

I called the # from the post copied below and it gave me option # 9 to be removed from their list.

Whatsherface 2011-06-06 20:49:15 Unknown
Never answered... this time. They call frequently... smells like a scam from the previous posts.

Thank you so much for this info. They call a few times a day and today I answered and there was nothing and then hang up. I guess they get credit for the call going through even if they don't talk. I did call this number you gave and had my number removed from their call list. I hope it helps.

Scam
sam3915 2011-01-26 22:39:56 Non-profit Organization
Caller ID said PFFU. I didn't answer. No message was left. I know from previous calls from PFFU calling from another Utah number that they just keep calling back. I put that first phone number on "call rejection". I just put this number on "call rejection", too.
InfoMan 2011-01-21 00:42:06 Telemarketer
Just got call from PFFU. As usual, no answer.
Interested in actually donating to the U of U Burn Camp?
Link to online donation form below. Specify Burn Camp in "Other":
https://webapps.utah.edu/uHospitalFoundation/newDonation.tpl
Much more efficient than dealing with PFFU. And immensely more satisfying.
Bee Sue 2010-09-15 22:29:35 Telemarketer
The PFF of Utah call me all the time, so finally I called our local fire department (south davis) and they told me I could just bring a check directly to them (written out to the South Davis Firefighters Assoc.). So that's what I did. Now I know that 100% of my donation went directly to the firefighters and not some telemarketing group. I would suggest if you want to donate to the police or the fire department, you call your local department and ask them who to write the check out to and mail it or take it directly to them.

they just sit on the phone and say nothing...how are they to get any funds if they just sit there and wait 45 seconds and then hang up!
