Stop Collection Agency Harassment
25 Jul 2011This JDB is the trickiest scam debt collector. Asset Acceptance is very well known on most consumer forums about collection debt. They are NOTORIUS for buying very old portfolios of consumer debt. They raise the alleged balances due and send out dunning notices consistently. It is a fear factor with this junk debt collector.

A standard procedure for this collection agency is changing the date of last activity on your credit report. Also, they claim to have received a payment from you which you never sent to them. They swear up and down and drive you crazy when in actuality you NEVER sent any money. One of many other tactics is that Asset Acceptance creates and files phony documents. Beware of any mail you receive from collection agencies especially this debt collector. All JDB collection agencies are a scam!

August 2008 I have had the experience to deal with this company twice. I have beaten this company twice. Both times they contacted me, I challenged them. I told them I want proof that I owed them anything.

Neither time could they do so. However, they continued to report and update the amounts on my credit reports. I took my complaints to the BBB and the Michigan Attorney General.

Each time Asset denied any wrong doing, even though I had them on many many many violations of state and federal laws, but each time, they deleted their poison from my reports. They will lie and break the law, but if you stand your ground, they can be made to leave your life.

they keep calling but never say anything if I answer. very annoying.  Tried both methods: answering the call; or letting it go to voicemail... the caller doesn't speak in either case.

So, if you've already given them money thinking you were trying to do the right thing and pay a bill (which, was over 10 years old, already) then what the hell do you do to get them to quit calling you?!?! HELP!

Keep receiving calls daily from 443-550-7959 and caller id calls it, "debt settlement svc." When I answer, there is no one on the other end!!!!! I want to tell them "where to stick it," but I can't. Can anyone help stop these annoying calls?????? (I don't owe any outstanding debt for which they would be calling!!)

I agree...in my opinion these collectors are basically criminals, and to prove that is easy...their robocalls are illegal, and who knows what else that they are doing which is illegal.

These vampires need to be investigated and closed down. People shouild not have to be harrassed like this over debt past the Statute of Limitations, and called at their place of work over it, which no doubt affects the person's credibility on the job and their future earnings potential.

I would be in total agreement to a huge class action lawsuit against these blatant scammers, as well as pursuing criminal charges against them for at the very least, the illegal robocalls..

I have a deadbeat ex-stepson it seems from the late husband. They have called many times looking for him. I explain he doesn't live here, has never lived here, I don't know where he is, have not seen him in 15+years. They still call.  I I  should have changed back to my maiden name, damn it!

Calls every day...never leaves a message.   This is why voice mail was invented for slime like this.  

The solution is simple....NEVER answer the call.   Let voice mail talk to them....most companies now are not even calling you in person, some machine dials you and leaves some stupid robotic message expecting you to call them back.   F*** you, unlisted Maryland phone number.

They purchase the debt for pennies on the dollar and then try to strong arm people to claiming the debt and getting them to pay. Not only that, they tack on extra fees and try to get you to pay those too! Ignore these bottom feeders and do not accept their calls or make any payment arrangements with them! You will only get screwed in the long run!!!!

These guys can cause you real problems. Be very careful about what you say because it seems even answering the phone can mean that you assume the debt. Look at  the Clark Howard website about debt validation letters and cease and desist letters. Because someone else out there named "John Smith" owes money on a bunch of bills, Since my name is "John Smith", they seem to be mine now. They adapt to us becoming more informed, and find new ways to screw us over. Making false claims of payment, calling from India etc. They are supposed to send you a collection letter which you can respond to. This seems to be where all of the American jobs have gone. Just sad.

I got a phone call from this number when I anwsered they hung up then again this morning it says asset acceptance

they called asking if joe was home,i asked to state her name and  the reason of the call but they told me it was a personal matter that only concerned to joe,i told them there wasnt any joe in my household,they apologized and wish me a good day.but i never got a name not for the company or representative.im most convinced that it was a debt collector.
