I completely agree with all of the above! They tried to "buy" my wedding dress off craigslist and when I realized it was a scam and didn't text back they started sending things like "you need to respond NOW!" "Respond now!!"
I blocked their number and two days later they started doing it again with a new (458) number. Beware!!

I posted an add on Craig's list today to sell my wedding dress.  I received a text message several hours later stating that they were very interested in my dress and that this transaction needed to happen quickly because they were getting married the beginning of March.  She said she would send a money order ASAP so I would have the money in hand before her seamstress picked up the dress.  I thought this was a bit odd so I googled the number, thank God.  There were many instances similar to mine that were all scams

They tried it recently with a piano.

Either the version you stated or they send you extra to pay the shipper and want you to wire the money within 48 hrs, too short a time for your bank to find out their check was a fake.

Very likely these scammers have a computerized search set up to scan Craigslist and for sale sites and automatically send a text to the numbers in the ads.  I doubt a real human is reading the ads and sending the texts.  The inquiry long texts come in fast but once in actual communication the texts are slow. A sure sign the initial contact is automated.

They don't want your goats at all.  What they want do is scam you out of money.  It is commonly run nowadays by Nigerian 419 scammers.

They will send you a counterfeit check for your goats that happens to be more that your asking price.  They will immediate contact you and apologize for the error.  They will ask you to send back the balance (minus a few dollars for the trouble) and send it back to them via Western Union.  However, it will take a few days for the bank to discover the check you deposited on was bad.  The bank will then hold you accountable for all of the funds.

Yeh same thing happen to me this person was interested in my goats lol lol   And some people were suppose to come and pick up the goats in few days.  When I search the number this came up.  Thank u all

I was selling my bike via craigslist. The guy gave me some kind of story about moving from one military base to another and wanted me to give the bike to his professional movers after he'd send me a money order for much more than what the bike was worth. I'd have to cash the money order, and give the rest of the money to the moving people. The moment he tried pulling that on me, I knew for sure he was a scammer. Never accept a money order from anyone for an amount that is more than what you ask for!

claimed he was being deployed for training to a base in Hawaii, except it's not a training base, then the standard scam, on a craigslist ad that stated cash only  that he would send a check... (I know these people are scammers because I say in the ad no email or text messages.. every text message has been an attempted scam)

scammer wanted to try to use a fake check to by a pool table & coevr his moving expenses, pretty common scam his check bounces after a week and you have to cover the moving expenses or refund to him

This person gave me some story about wanting to buy an item i had on Craigslist.  In the coast guard, I'm not gonna rip you off, etc etc. I'll send a money order, once you cash it ill send my people to pick up the item, etc. run run run!

I have been dealing with a guy for 2 days now wanting to buy my pool table that I listed on Craigslist. Told me he would send me a bank check and would wait for it to clear my bank then send movers to pick it up. Said he was sending me the movers money as well and to pay them when they showed up. His story never did quiet jive with me. I kept asking questions and he always had an answer. Said his name was DR. Ryan Lochte and gave me a fake address as I looked it up on the USPS website. Promised he would pay the money and that he was not a scammer and I needed to trust him.

I have kept all his messages and would love for them to be investigated. I contacted the authorities. I hope he does not send anyone to my house as he has my name and address which totally make me uncomfortable now!!! Good thing we have our house alarmed.


Anyone else try to have them investigated?

What type of people were these that showed up to your home? Did they originally tell you they lived out of town? Were they foreigners? The reason I'm asking is because I've recently had 2 scammers on same ad trying to get me to do the same thing. They want me to ship a prom dress and take my ad off of Craigslist. After the 1st scam I asked way more questions on the second inquiry and they simply vanished. Who are these people victimizing honest people just trying to honestly sell an item online. There needs to be reprocussions for what these people are doing

These people are just welfare recipients who are on fixed incomes and are just trying any way to make a quick buck. They aren't out earning an honest dollar paying taxes. They are victimizing innocent people. I'm trying to get the media in on this and do surprise visits to their homes like in NBC's Predator. Wouldn't we all love to see who sits behind their computers and scams the public get theirs. I had a guy for 1 week text from Utah saying he was buying for his daughter in my town and I needed to ship my daughters prom dress to him that he would pay 30 extra for me to take listing off craigslist

They are seriously trying to talk me into cashing a $1700 check for a $100 dress

This person offered to purchase something from me. Then sent a large check for a great deal more than the price of the item. This really didnt make sense.

This person or persons is also using the number 832-582-0844 to scam. They sent the identical text message to me 20 minutes after the original text both with a name of T.White.

I just received a text message from this phone number regarding a pool table for sale on craigslist. Apparently, they are trying to scam again.
