have been getting these calls for almost 2 years, same message (final notice to lower your interest on credit cards). HOW many final notices can you get??  And it is a different phone number every time. Calling them back is a waste of time, they change their number again and again. I have a list of hundreds of phone numbers these crooks have used to give me a final notice. They are above any laws and no one can touch them and their crappy scams. If you don't reconize the area code, DON"T ANSWER, as easy as that. They rarely leave a message.

These people are nothing more than common criminals with with a complete disregard for the law and they have no reason to be civil. They ask for up front fees and charge your credit card without performing any services.

I have now received more than 200 (I have them documented) calls from these scum sucking criminals. I have filed more than 50 complaints with the FTC, however I doubt that they will ever be able to stop any of them.

Civil action by the FTC against such criminals is totally ineffective. These criminals need to be charged with Federal Felonies and subjected to significant jail time. All of those involved know that they are violating FTC regulations. The FTC prohibits unsolicited calls for any kind of debt / interest rate reductions which require up front fees. The FTC levies huge fines, then rescinds them based on inability to pay. The FTC settles for the minimal cash on hand, and enjoins them from future "telemarketing". The criminals sign off, then go right back to business. The entire operations are clearly criminal, intent to defraud, etc, and should be dealt with in criminal court and not by civil actions.

Did more digging, and for those who missed the first two posts I made, here's a quick recap with the new info:

This number is hosted by Level 3, but not owned. Due to laws, Level 3 could not release who owns that number. However, since the number is hosted by Level 3, they are still bound to the acceptable use policy (link below for those who care). I called Level 3, and spoke with their voice department, who provided me with the wholesale info and Level 3's fraud department.

So, here is what you should do to get these numbers to stop: call Level 3's fraud department at 800.348.5457, say that this number is doing a telemarketing scam, answer their questions, and wait 48 hours. If it's not solved, call them back, report it again.

Hopefully this stops the phone calls not only for myself, but for others.

"Credit Card Services."  Called me on my cell phone with an offer to lower my credit card rate.  I pressed 1 and asked them to call me on a land line so I wouldn't have to pay cell time to find out the details.  The guy got EXTREMELY obnoxious, swore at me for about 30 seconds, and then hung up.  Must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed this morning.

I still do not know how to lower my credit card interest rate.  Oh, yeah.  I don't have a credit card.  Never mind.

Same number and scam. Guy asked for my credit card numbers and I said you read y numbers to me since you should already have that information he said no I have to verify you are TJ. I tried to politely tell him I have tried to opt out and that didn't work and also tried to explain if he is an honest person to call local authorities wherever they are at and report the scam company they work for. Obviously he knew it was a scam, became defensive and hung up.

Here is the FTC site so maybe if there are enough complaints about this number they will investigate!

Oh, also, following my last post (should have posted this the first time around..) Level 3 has an acceptable use policy (like any telco) and this number does violate it. Below is a link to the AUP for those interested.

When I hit 'submit' at the 2nd page, I got a message that said my complaint was not accepted because the complaint number & my registered phone number were the same. (??????????)

Did it three times. Same result.

That is the best answer I have seen.  I also am starting to think that the Do-No- Call list is being used as a DO call list.  I am so very close to tossing the phones in the trash along with the bill.  Sick of it I tell you.

You're f****ng disgusting. Trying to rally people together to say lude things on the telephone is f****ng idiotic.

DNC is for sales calls, they are doing what is called "qualifying calls" which means if you agree to a call back they can legally call and try to sell you something. They can't just call first off and try to sell.

So the DNC doesn't apply to this. You need to do some research on the DNC before you sound like an idiot.

I know its annoying but its legal so do what you have to do I guess.

Alright folks, I have been getting calls from these a***oles for quite some time now, despite being on the National Do Not Call registry.  They are all the same....trying to gain your confidence, but when you ask a  simple question of who they are or what company they represent, they hang-up on you.

Here is what we ALL need to do:

1. Contact the FTC and give them your name and information and open a file/report with them.  They will give you a  reference number and you can use give that tot hem and then just give them every new number that you see on your phone...even daily if you have to. Here is the contact info:
1-877-FTC-HELP  (1-877-382-4357), Press 1, Press 3
9-8 Eastern Time M-F;    http://www.ftc.gov/ftc/contact.shtm

I keep a notepad file on my computer with all the numbers that I get on my caller ID, and enter them into the computer with the dates I have gotten the calls, just to see if the same numbers are calling me again.

2.  I have decided to fight back directly as well, so now, I immediately press 1 and go to a live agent.  When they ask me if I want to lower my interest rate, I respond by making totally obscene sexual comments.  I just got one and asked the young gal on the phone if she shaved her juicy little p**sy for me this morning.  She said she did yesterday, and then turned around and asked if I wanted to lower my interest rate.  I then told her I wanted to lick her p**sy instead, and she said, okay, and then hung up.  She was a feisty one...nice.  I have decided to ramp it up and get real pornographic with them....and I have even heard a couple of gasps on the phone just before they hang up.  Today's gal was the exception, but at least she will be remembering my call for the rest of the day.  If everyone joins in and gets totally filthy with them, it may start to curb the number of people willing to do this sort of stuff....plus it's sort of fun and empowering than just simply swearing at them. The best thing is not to yell at them, but sound really creepy and serious, in a passive-aggressive sort of way.  To be honest, I find that the number of calls have significantly gone down ever since I have become an even bigger a***ole towards them.  I think they are making sure to remove my number from their lists......hahaha, f****rs!  The majority of the people are usually women, so it can be entertaining to hear their shock and ruin their day, especially if you use the C-word in addressing them.  HAHAHA!!!!  Fight back the scum of telemarketing!!

I looked up the phone number on www.mycallbot.com (I highly recommend this web site to anyone wanting to see if you can attach a name/company to a "blocked" phone number).  This is what came up...

Central Office: PHOENIX, AZ - QWEST CORPORATION

I got a call with a recording telling me that my credit account was up to date, but it was important that I stay on the line to talk with someone about "reducing my rate to 7.1 percent."  I already knew this was a crock, so I held on to ask that my number be put on their "do not call" list.  When a representative came on the phone and I made my request, I was immediately disconnected.  I tried to call back to ask that my number be put on their "do not call" list, but all I got was a recording insisting that I press "1" to get a bunch of spam on some kind of junk--its system somehow knew that I was calling from a cell phone.  When I didn't press "1", I got disconnected.  I put the number in my contacts list with the name "DO NOT ANSWER" so that I know not to waste my cell phone minutes on them.

It's nice to hear the venting, but I don't believe the Do Not Call list is functioning to eradicate these slippery b*****ds. I made the mistake the first time of pressing 1 to ask to be taken off.  Now I turn on the TV or radio so it's nice and loud, and hold the receiver up to it.  Sometimes the idiots say, hello, hello over and over again (thinking you've put the phone down), and sometimes they just hold on for a few minutes while they buff their nails, drink their energy drink, or have a smoke.  That's my only fun with these people.
