They can call because they are not selling anything. They get your information from companies you purchased from,  voting rolls or random number generators. I believe if you actually speak with someone from the company and ask to have your number removed from their list they have to honor that but it would only apply to their company

I'm on the National Do Not Call Registry. Doesn't that mean anything?

The products you purchase, the services available to you, and even the propositions and candidates that you choose during an election all depend upon market research. Recognizing the importance of this, the government exempted the market research industry from the National Do Not Call Registry. However, we do maintain our own internal "Do Not Call" list for those who choose to not have their opinions counted.

Why do I get multiple calls from you?

We believe the best decisions can be made only when we've gathered the opinions of the most diverse group possible. Sometimes this means that we need to work harder to reach certain participants whose opinions might otherwise not be included. We can even put your number on our internal "Do Not Call" list. If you'd rather not be contacted, just let us know when we call.

How did you get my number?

It depends on the type of research we?re doing. For example:If you opted in to our Research Community in the past, we may be using the contact information you provided.If a company you?ve done business with wants to conduct research about their products or services, that business may provide us with a list of their customers.If we're doing a political survey in which we're trying to reach likely voters, we may use information from public voter rolls.For a community issues study, we may use telephone directories.For some surveys with rigorous methodological protocols for governmental or academic institutions, we may even use lists of randomly-generated phone numbers.

Why do you sometimes ask for a particular gender or age group when you call?

Our research requires us to find a representative sampling of various demographic attributes. When we are finishing up a study, it's not uncommon for us to ask up front for a particular demographic. It's really just a method to help us respect your valuable time

Received the same call as everyone else and added them to my Black List on my Call Control app now when they call they get hung-up on call never comes to me. Love the Call Control App!

This number has called my house at least 2 times a day many times 3 times /day every day now foe over a week and i am getting very angry about it.

Because they are allegedly calling regarding Market Research, they are exempt from the National Do Not Call registry.  

They will ask you very personal questions in order to ?qualify? you for their research study.  Questions such as race, age, location, occupation, education, and many more depending on what their current study is.

Here is a specific statement made by the company: ?MDC Research has been in business since 1979.  The company conducts market research and is not involved in any sales activities.  One type of work involves identifying and inviting people to focus groups to solicit in-person opinions on products and/or messages on behalf of organizations?
    In order to get a representative market sample it is necessary to screen potential participants by gender, age, marital status, line of work, income, etc.  In cases of age and income, MDC asks for ranges; e.g., respectively 18 - 24, 25 - 34, etc., $30,000 - $49,000, $50,000 - $74,000, etc.  On employment, our client asked to exclude certain professions, such as financial services, advertising and a few other categories.  As an example of sampling, we do not want to end up inviting only single males between the ages of 55 - 64 who make $30,000 - $49,999.  ?

The company has however a long history of abusive phone practices.  Based on all the complaints listed on here, when I also received an abusive phone call from the company where their representative called me an ?a***ole? for not answering their questions, I filed a Better Business Bureau complaint against them.  (Complaint #22425011)

I would encourage other people to take the time to also file a complaint if you witness abusive practices by this company.  Unless complaints are filed, the company will continue engaging in the same wrong behavior.

Received a call. Rude. Called number on Caller ID. No answer.  Tracked to Market Decision.  Comes across like a scam.

It says this number belongs to Market Decision in Portland, Oregon. And yes, it's a landline.  I am also on the do not call list, but they call 2 or 3 times everyday and say nothing.  Isn't this harassment and can't we do anything about this??

they basicly asked if I was an employee of a telephone co.  or something..then asked my date of birth...nothing else.. I felt icky afterward...like they are pieceing together info on me...  I will never give out info..like that again... didn't feel right.. they really didn't survey anything..

This number has been calling my number repeatedly. I don't know who they are or how they got my number.

These clowns have been calling from several different phone numbers.  I am on the Federal and Idaho State No-Call lists, so RDD is violating the law.  I filed a report with the FTC and FCC.

Have had at least a dozen calls from this number in the past week, Screen shows "Marketing Decisions" as the caller and I never pick up such calls. As soon as it connects with the answering machine, they hang up. I am on the Do Not Call list, but they ignore it and the calls continue.

Caller ID says MARKET DECISION. Called twice in three days. I don't DO surveys. Get a real job.

Been getting 3 or 4 calls a day from this number.  Never leaves a message.  Very annoying.  The number displays as Market Decision.  I will block it.

This phone number  has been calling my phone number for a few days now. But when they hear my answering machine, the number disconnects.  I too am on the Do Not Call list and still get crap calls. Frustrating to hear the phone ring when you are doing something that requires your utmost attention .

i got a call from this line - i answered because i have family in Oregon (which does have an 503 area code) i answered.  Clearly this was a scam or telemarketer... why would a "PGE sensus" call me at 8p to ask if my listed address with them was Residence or Busines - say what?  Then when i stated, "it's where i get my bill" they put me on hold & finally when i asked them if they wanted anything else... they said no & hung up.
Calling back was no answer - i'll try them again over the next few days, around 2 in the morning from an alternate number to see what happens...

Same thing, but on my home phone. No message.

I see posts from 2008 but I just got a call today!!!  Rang twice and then hung up. I didn't answer, they left no message.
